How cold is it by you?

-9 here. Big old draughty house, 4 out of 5 of us ill with colds/cough/sore throat, including a 2yo and 3mo. Heating is going to have to be in constant today to avoid further illness and frozen pipes.

Yep same here in Cheshire, so not out in the wilds. DH sent photo of his car showing -9 as he went to work an hour ago.

I am gearing myself up to go and do a food shop whilst it’s quiet, just wondering how long to defrost the car 🤣.

We’re forecast 10/12 on Sunday into Monday, it will feel like a heatwave, 20degrees up on this morning!

We have a wood burner which is on morning till night, then heating just morning and evening.

Just managing with a multi fuel stove in lounge. Ds has a paraffin tilley lamp in his bedroom to heat it. Don't put central heating on as we've spent money on smokeless fuel/paraffin instead (it's half the cost of heating).

Friend has thermometer in garden just round the corner from us. She's just messaged to say it's reading - 9.

DS has just recovered from being ill so really hoping he stays that way!

It's -7° and bloody freezing. Got loads of rain due next week apparently but it won't be so cold. It's been really cold for days now.

Just driven into town. Warmest temperature on the journey -5, coldest -12. On my drive it was -11 and the car started first time. On days like this I love my modern(ish) car and Michelin CrossClimate tyres.

-3 (now warmed up to 0) in Cornwall. It doesn't feel that cold though, I was surprised to see ice on the car and the temperature it said it was! Am I just firmly conditioned to being cold now perhaps. I spent the day WFH yesterday in a 12 degree office. Oh joys.

-9°, feeling like -11° here in northwest Wiltshire. I’m not looking forward to defrosting the car in a few minutes; I haven’t driven it for a week! The lanes are treacherous around here.

-9 this morning. Last weekend we stripped out the loft insulation in preparation for new stuff being installed today. They cancelled at 7am. I'm LIVID (and cold).

-9c here. It was -5c in car at 4.30pm yesterday so was expecting a cold one. Not forecast to get above freezing and more of the same tonight.

Funnily enough, car didn't need defrosting. Have had heating set around 17.5-18c the last couple of days when someone is here, but turning down to 16.5c - our bills are going to be extortionate this month.
