Secondary in Herts. Yes. Kids VERY happy as am I. I'm still in bed with a coffee. No school run I work
Part time and not today.
Hurrah.

Open here (SW London). More snow than I've seen in years (pic from last night and we got a bit more)! But no need to close at least primary schools as everyone is within walking down stance.
Glad my daughter is already on Christmas break as she tubes it into town and there's severe delays on many lines.

I'm shocked when I heard the news about closures on the M25 and there was only a yellow warning. There's never any real snow here when it's yellow. I remember the only time we have road closure it was amber.

Anyway, no school closures in south Hampshire. And we have almost no snow.

North London here and school is open. However, they sent a text about a late start 20 minutes after DD had left

AriettyHomily · 12/12/2022 09:51

SE London, secondary is closed as is the secondary DH teaches at.

TwoRockSalmonAndAHaporthOfChips · 12/12/2022 09:53

Market town in the south of Gloucestershire - both our primary and secondary are closed today. We still have inches of lying snow and the untreated roads which were lightly used yesterday are now frozen solid and treacherous. All the school buses (catchment area has lots of villages) come from very hilly areas so it’s a no go for them.

Rainbowsandbutterflies1990 · 12/12/2022 09:53

I'm in Hertfordshire and both my girls schools is closed special and little village school so snow day 🙄

echt · 12/12/2022 09:55

So that's seven.

HideTheCroissants · 12/12/2022 09:57

SE London. The school I work in is closed “due to road conditions”. My road is totally driveable but the school is a few miles away. Nearest school to me seems to be open but I’ve seen on social media that a local secondary is closed as their power is off….

MarshaBradyo · 12/12/2022 09:58

SE London all three open

HideTheCroissants · 12/12/2022 09:59

Have to admit, the snow caught us totally by surprise it wasn’t mentioned on any of our weather apps but when it started it was very heavy and was still going when we went to bed.

Not everywhere has snow. We're NE Scotland and we don't really have any (a light dusting in areas not touched by the sun) although the pavements are like ice rinks in places, so even the rural schools near us which always seem to close as soon as there's snow are all open as normal.

We are in the Midlands and not one flake here either, so all schools are open. Had the smallest amount yesterday which was gone within 30 minutes. Just very cold and a bit of mist!

blametheparents · 12/12/2022 10:06

North Kent - quite a few schools are closed

MermaidEyes · 12/12/2022 10:08

Midlands here too and no snow whatsoever, wasn't even icy this morning.

miserablecat · 12/12/2022 10:08

All schools in our hertfordshire town are closed. I guess around 8, maybe 10 of them including primaries and secondaries

Frazzled2207 · 12/12/2022 10:11

North west and none that I know of

however each time it has closed (on average one day a year) it’s always simply been because not enough teachers could get in. Many live many miles away up in the snowy hills.

ichundich · 12/12/2022 10:12

Ours in Cambs are open (secondary and primary). There is about 1 inch of snow, but all the main roads are clear.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 12/12/2022 10:14

East Sussex. Loads of snow, chaos schools closed. 4 miles down the road in Hastings, barely a flake

SkylightSkylight · 12/12/2022 10:14

No, to the kids dismay!! North Hampshire, few inches of fluffy snow.

bibbiddybobbidyboo · 12/12/2022 10:19

It's quite ridiculous how much the snow affects the UK compared to other countries!

Ciri · 12/12/2022 10:20

Nothing here in the East Midlands. My car didn't even have frost on this morning.

MsFogi · 12/12/2022 10:22

SE London dcs senior schools - 2 closed and 1 open (but opened at 9.30)

toomuchlaundry · 12/12/2022 10:27

Schools are open, but the majority of school buses are not operating. Ice not snow is the issue here. Many pupils are doing remote learning

toomuchlaundry · 12/12/2022 10:29

@bibbiddybobbidyboo because many areas of this country don't often have snowy conditions. Countries that have regular snowy winters will have the infrastructure in place.

I assume everyone complaining about how everything is shut etc have snow tyres and snow grips,
