I'm under a blanket on the sofa waiting for the chippy to open.

Feel like I might puke. Celebrated the sloe gin being ready last night by drinking many sloe gin cocktails, incl putting it in champagne.

DH is fine, the rotten bastard.

Who else is dying?

Have you just woken up? Or is it just kicking in now?!

Thankfully… no hangover here since I attended a fortieth 9 years ago. Never. Again!!

Sparklingbrook · 11/12/2022 15:41

Lucozade!

minipie · 11/12/2022 15:42

Somewhat hungover here. Not dying but can’t face what I’m supposed to be doing which is wrestling the lights onto the Christmas tree.

Gemzee · 11/12/2022 15:42

Mine is just lifting, I tried a fry up, full fat coke, tea, alka seltzer & cheesey pasta. Only thing thats worked is a shower just now 🤣

curiousbanana · 11/12/2022 15:43

I've been rough all day but it's escalated, because I'm hungry and the fucking chippy doesn't open til 5.

I'm 40. I should know better. Waaaaahhhhhh.

Single parent here. Drinking more than a glass is out the question. So forces me to be sensible. Any kids?

thewayround · 11/12/2022 15:46

If your DH ok, presumably he’s administering sympathy and nourishment (hopefully!)

Bobbybobbins · 11/12/2022 15:47

I'm hanging! Had to take DS ice skating this morning then Xmas party this afternoon which has almost killed me 😆

curiousbanana · 11/12/2022 15:47

No kids. Just a grumpy cat who is pacing the living room doing big meows because it's too cold to go out and apparently I'm in charge of the weather and should fix it right now.

I could eat him. I am very hungry.

Nope. He's far too cheerful for my liking today.

Chinese food.

I had hot and sour soup. It seems to have sorted me out.

So not doing anything for you?!

Helpwithdaughterpls · 11/12/2022 16:06

@thewayround

Why? Most ppl can snap into emergency mode after several drinks.

And drive? No thanks

thewayround · 11/12/2022 16:08

If I have two glasses of wine
and my daughter calls me needing me to urgently pick her up
I am not going to be able to “snap into” and drink drive

would you?

I wouldn’t. So i don’t.

Does she urgently call you to pick her up? Are there any taxis where you live ?

Helpwithdaughterpls · 11/12/2022 16:10

@thewayround

Do you mean to hospital in an emergency?

Obvs your choice but the chances of needing to do this are incredibly slim. Plus there are taxis, friends and family and ambulances.

I've lone patented for 8 years and it's never occurred to me I need to be ready to drive at all times, mainly because I only recently acquired a driving license!

Yes I am always amazed when people say they don't drink in case they need to drive in an emergency. Some people don't drive. Not everyone owns a car.

MadeForThis · 11/12/2022 16:14

Does this mean a couple can never both drink on the same night, in case there is an emergency and someone needs to drive?

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/12/2022 16:14

Same. I rarely drink and haven't been drunk since last year at my works Xmas party.

Last night was this years one. I've eaten so much crap and still I need more.

Going to order a takeaway soon as the Chinese opens.

Apparently I lost my bank card on the way home. It was posted on our local fb site and I've got it back now 😁

DirectionToPerfection · 11/12/2022 16:15

Too late now I know, but in future keep some dioralyte in and have one before bed whenever you've been drinking. It's a lifesaver, you'll just feel tired instead of sick as a dog.

No I don’t mean hospital in a emergency.

I mean, like last weekend, she’d gone for a sleepover and then began to feel ill and so at 10pm, called me to collect.

last month when my teen son was out, lost his wallet and called me because last bus had left and 4 mile walk home.

or back in the summer, when my eldest daughter had been dumped by her boyfriend in a pub and was crying her eyes out in the toilet and couldn’t face finding a bus and on a Friday night… would have been traipsing around looking for a taxi

I could go on

oh and this time last year when my son called me becuae his friend had taken something and they didn’t know what and he had passed out and they were too anxious about calling his parents

LER83 · 11/12/2022 16:17

I'm still recovering from Friday night! I'm not usually a massive drinker but hadn't been out for ages and it was a big swanky works do with free bar so got a bit carried away! Dragged myself out yesterday as I had a lash appointment and laid there the whole time willing myself not to be sick 😂 Never again!!
