I'm under a blanket on the sofa waiting for the chippy to open.

Feel like I might puke. Celebrated the sloe gin being ready last night by drinking many sloe gin cocktails, incl putting it in champagne.

DH is fine, the rotten bastard.

Who else is dying?

@thewayround What would you have done in those situations if, like many single parents, you didn't have a car?

No idea.

But I do.

That’s my approach. No judgement at all for those who do things differently

JorisBonson · 11/12/2022 16:19

My DH sends solidarity OP. I had to put him to bed last night and he can't even face pizza today.

Oh there's plenty of judgement, it's positively dripping from your posts.

There's always a self righteous arse on any threads re alcohol. At least one.

No I don’t mean hospital in a emergency.

I mean, like last weekend, she’d gone for a sleepover and then began to feel ill and so at 10pm, called me to collect.

last month when my teen son was out, lost his wallet and called me because last bus had left and 4 mile walk home.

or back in the summer, when my eldest daughter had been dumped by her boyfriend in a pub and was crying her eyes out in the toilet and couldn’t face finding a bus and on a Friday night… would have been traipsing around looking for a taxi

I could go on

oh and this time last year when my son called me becuae his friend had taken something and they didn’t know what and he had passed out and they were too anxious about calling his parents

Blimey. I have 3 now adult dses dses and there wasn’t a time we had to pick them up unexpectedly. If there may have been a risk one of us would be sober. It never happened. Bad luck with your offspring causing a few issues for you.

Oooohhh that must be a bad one. Pizza is usually a good shout.

Fucking bastard chippy is closed! So I've splashed out and ordered a curry.

Lucozade and cheese and onion crisps.
Job done.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 11/12/2022 16:30

Ooh OP I feel you.
This was me yesterday. It was my Xmas party on Friday night and I definitely wasn't drinking. 🙄😂
Dd (13) came upstairs at about 8.30am took one look at me and brought me a glass of water and some paracetamol. I said I think I'm still drunk you will have to get the bus to work. I slept on and off until 13.30 then went downstairs and slept on the sofa until 15.00. Went for a walk and I was fine.
Stay strong OP.

Pelo22 · 11/12/2022 16:41

Me
Work do, drinks all paid for. I had two bottles of wine and 6 tequilas plus Prosecco, Malibu and cocktails
Got home about 4.30am. Woke up at 10am and the room was spinning Envy

Itwasntevenblackpudding · 11/12/2022 17:09

@Pelo22

Good effort!

Hope you feel better soon!

Hair of the dog? 😎

RJnomore1 · 11/12/2022 17:13

Aw op

i e not had a drink in a fortnight but I’m recovering from covid so I have all the joys of feeling like I have a hang over with none of the fun. At least you got the good bit.

i couldn’t even face a curry <eyes bowl of mash sadly>

So true. This is clearly not the thread for them. Why post?!

panko · 11/12/2022 17:18

Sip water. Feel better soon.

NancyJoan · 11/12/2022 17:33

OP, why is no one bringing you a McDonalds, with a full sugar Coke? This is terrible.

DetoxedAlcoholic · 11/12/2022 17:39

My username says it all... But I was going to suggest curry, the salt and grease will help! Water and paracetamol too.

curiousbanana · 11/12/2022 18:02

I've just had a curry, saag aloo and bhajis.

Not 100% recovered but I feel I might survive the night now.

Back to my blanket nest on the sofa. DH still being a dick saying he fancies a beer. He'd better keep it away from me, j don't want to smell it.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 11/12/2022 18:11

You have my sympathies OP, I’ve had a couple of awful hangovers in my life and they are not fun! My worst ones are combined with the hangxiety of remembering the utter shite I talked combined with the dance moves I’d rather forget (full routine to spice girls or bananarama anyone?) 🙈 nice cup of tea for you now and stay safely in your nest.

isthismylifenow · 11/12/2022 18:20

My last major hangover was in October. Went to a Portuguese festival and we were all convinced the drinks were watered down. They were not. 🙈

I don't drink in excess very often, and my last previous hangover of note was in 2018.

Sorry to say OP but this last little stint took me 2 fkn weeks to get over. I felt like I was never going to feel right again.

Anyway, needless to say I've not had one drink since. But I have a Christmas party next weekend so I'm NOT going near any Portuguese drinks. Ever.

Drink rehydration drinks, and don't be too proud to take a couple of paracetamol. And sleep.

Oh lawd, the hangxiety....

I had to break the news to my dd that I ran into her ex, and boy did I give him a mouthful.

The reply was 'oh Mum, you didn't really did you....'. I did. But he had been stalking her and so I let him have it. Alls been quiet on thst front since, so I'm of the thinking he got the message.

But, the shame..... 🙈

If I have two glasses of wine
and my daughter calls me needing me to urgently pick her up
I am not going to be able to “snap into” and drink drive

would you?

I wouldn’t. So i don’t.

What a way to live.

Loafbeginsat60 · 11/12/2022 18:49

I'm dying on the sofa under a blanket and it's nearly 7pm.

I feel so sick, my head is banging

Went out for lunch with mum earlier and now I feel worse. Waaaah

I'm 42 and I know I can't drink a bottle of wine to myself and get away with it.

JustAnotherHappyFatty · 11/12/2022 18:51

@thewayround your judgement is obvious.
Myself and my husband are currently enjoying a glass of wine each, guess what though.....he doesn't drive and I do! So by your reckoning I should have spent the last 16 years since the birth of my first child completely sober?
Fortunately (or maybe just relatively normally) I have never had to do as many emergency pick ups as you. Perhaps you should be teaching your (presumably older) children not to depend on mum to pick them up and learn some independence.
Hope your hangover passes soon OP!!!!
