Is 'Wednesday' suitable for a 10 year old

Hi all

My 10 year old wants to watch 'Wednesday' on Netflix. It's age rated '12' but she reckons all her friends watch it.

Any thoughts appreciated!

My 10 year old has watched it with me and her dad . We watched heh first episodes first and there's 3 gory bits ( that I would count as gory) so we could tell her when to look away but they were only really in the first episode . There's a scene further in with body parts in jars but she new they were not real so wasn't fazed by them .

My 10yo DS watched the first episode and decided it was too scary for him. He is sensitive though.

I've watched a couple more but not given it my full attention. I don't think there's any more monsters?

Cheesymonster · 10/12/2022 13:22

My DD is 10, watched the whole series with me and loved it. There are some scary monster parts. If you check on IMDB website under parental advice it will tell you more about the content.

My 10 yr old watched it with us and loved it , she was fine. She is reasonably mature for her age though , we have another 10 yr old that's quite sensitive and might have been a bit scared in parts but tbh I still would have let her watch it too if she had wanted to. Have you seen it ?

GrasstrackGirl · 10/12/2022 13:22

I'm not sure, it's not overly gory but there are a few bloody attack scenes.

I don't think I'd be comfortable with a ten year old watching it.

My 10 year old has watched it and loved it. I checked parental guidance online carefully. He doesn’t mind monsters, is a little squeamish with gore but was totally fine. I won’t allow anything with sexual content, there was one comment that insinuated sex but would go over a child’s head.
We binged it over 3 nights. Love it when an exciting show we can watch together comes out

ChocHotolate · 10/12/2022 13:53

My 10yr old loved it

Oh so glad I have found this as my 9 year old has been asking so might let him based on answers above.

unpocamasporfavor · 10/12/2022 15:01

My just-turned 11yo absolutely loved it. He expected it to be scarier.
I loved it too Wink

TimeToFlyNow · 10/12/2022 15:26

My 11 year old was fine with it but didn't find it as interesting as he thought he would. I loved it 🤣

RememberedForAllTheWrongReasons · 10/12/2022 15:29

I hid behind my hands at some parts. DH had to tell me when it was safe to watch.
I was watching Freddie Krueger at 13 but am now a wuss.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 10/12/2022 15:43

My DS is 10 and loved it. And he Men in Black as too scary the previous week!

KindergartenKop · 10/12/2022 15:46

Yes it's fine. A bit 'teen' and creepy but no sexy times.

dicdicnurse · 10/12/2022 15:48

My 10yr old loved it! But she's pretty hardcore when it comes to tv which I put down to her Jurassic park obsession that started at age 3!

BeyondTheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 10/12/2022 15:52

My 10 yo loved it, but he's always been a gory kid. Big fan of shark films...

Strokethefurrywall · 10/12/2022 16:00

My 8 & 11 year old love it. DH and I loved it more!!

I was really hoping to watch this with my 8 and 11 year old boys but the little one was scared off by the piranha scene! Think the older one would like it but the 8-year-old is the rate limiting factor unfortunately

I watch a bit more and there were severed body parts and a snapped neck which i think would have just about finished him off haha

Falalalalaaah · 10/12/2022 17:05

The monster isn't especially scary tbh. It has big, cartoony eyes. I've only seen the first two episodes btw, so can't say how bad it gets.

There's a few drug references I think and mild swearing.

There is one bit in the first episode which I found a teensy bit gory. But some 10yos would be fine with it probably
