Hi all

My 10 year old wants to watch 'Wednesday' on Netflix. It's age rated '12' but she reckons all her friends watch it.

Any thoughts appreciated!

My 9 & 10 Yr olds loved it, we watched it together and didn't cause any nightmares! My 9 yo nephew found it "terrifying" but still loved it, just needed to cuddle in on the scary parts!

I’ve just finished watching and it does get darker as the series goes on. It’s quite a weird mix between quirky with the odd thing that’s really dark especially in the last couple of episodes.

Is there swearing please? I don’t want her to watch it if there is anything like s@@t etc. thank you

There really aren't many episodes, watch it first then watch it together if you are happy to.

SPOILERS
Without giving away too much, and it's a whole since I watched it, parts I thought were gory from the trailer weren't (dance scene) but other parts were so its handy to know what's happening. There is a monster, a 'witch' hunt with a large group of people killed although you don't see it, and a fire scene off the top of my head.

It was an enjoyable watch for myself and my DDwhen she was 13, at 10 lots of her friends were watching Stranger Things which I didn't want her to. There is value in making them wait as they'll enjoy it more if they are closer to the actual intended age range as they'll 'get' more of it and have more in common with the characters

As far as we recall, only 'minor' swearing

My 9 year old watched it last year and loved it

Thanks. What do you classify as minor though!!? Everyone is different. I don’t mind cr6p but I don’t want sh7t or pi77 or anything like that! Sorry to be pernickety!

@Kates1405 why not just watch it yourself first there are only a handful of episodes.

I would say if you are concerned about swearing then even if there isn't any in it it's not the show for the DC (maybe try the older films and Munsters for similar shows) - I get you I was the same until DD started at secondary and I knew she was hearing worse in the playground. DD still wouldn't dream of swearing at home now (and neither do I) but now she's older she watches plenty of things with swear words in she just knows I wouldn't tolerate her using that language

I would say if she’s ok with the later Harry Potter movies, she’ll be fine with Wednesday
