The press and Harry and Meg

I have just seen a video of Harry and Meg at some awards thing and press are asking them questions about latest going’s on.

I wish journalists/news papers etc would make a stand against them. Stop asking questions, stop putting them front page, turn their backs and put down the cameras as they pass on the red carpet. Literally go silent.

in the latest trailer they have lied and implied they don’t want to be harassed by press (even using footage that is unrelated.

so why don’t the British press make a point and stop the photos and front pages?

Personally I think they are no more relevant to the British public than Kerry Katona! I literally don’t see the point in their “work“.

Everything I see is counting on how crass they are. Embarrassing pair. Car crash viewing.

WeWereInParis · 07/12/2022 12:04

why don’t the British press make a point and stop the photos and front pages?

Because they want to sell papers/get people to read their website, and stories about H&M do that?

Beezone · 07/12/2022 12:17

But these are non stories. I’m not exactly sure what she has done exactly? Everytime she opens her mouth I’m left confused. It’s just odd meaningful words strung together in such a way that I come away thinking “what was the point again?” And from a nobody… it may as well be me up there. I find it tasteless when they sit there with their Hermes blanket and somehow their stuff comes across as a lecture to me… the other royals don’t make me feel like that.

Harry has done some good in the past and i have enjoyed his work on the military for example.

I'm just not sure what the point is in this “work” they do and if It’s so important why do they overshadow it by constant moaning

They sell column inches, that's why.
Just bear in mind that nobody is invading their privacy, something g which they've complained about in the past, they are putting themselves out there.
They are relevant to this country since they seem to want to smear Harry's (ex) loved ones at every turn.
The Royal Family on the other hand ( yes im well aware they are not perfect by a long way) have so far maintained a dignified silence. Which is probably winding H&M up even more.
I think dignified silence is the best approach although I'm pretty sure that "sources close to the Palace " etc etc will give their opinions to the media

BeautifulDragon · 07/12/2022 12:31

Harry is the son of the King, on what planet is he not relevant? Meghan is the King's DIL.

Calling people 'nobody' doesn't make it true. Also I'm pretty sure H&M know more about what it's like to be a member of the royal family than you do!

Pandor · 07/12/2022 12:41

Op - you are literally on here talking about them! They are occupying your brain enough for you to start a thread about them - showing the same interest the press are catering for. You could have gone your entire day ignoring their existence, not saying a word about them, but you chose not to.

lots of other people seem to be just like you, can’t get them out of your heads!

Ostryga · 07/12/2022 12:43

I find people who hate H&M so much very strange. Why do you give them so much space in your head?

The only time I ever think about them is when I’m on here and see yet another thread complaining about them. Surely there’s something far more interesting to do?

Maireas · 07/12/2022 12:48

That was quite a media frenzy last night at those awards. They both seemed quite happy though, so I'm glad Harry has got over his dislike of cameras clicking away in close proximity.

TellMeWhere · 07/12/2022 12:52

If they sell papers then the press will talk to them, of course.

You aren't interested in them yet still feel the need to start posts and watch videos and trailers about them. If people stop being interested then the press will stop being interested.

Beezone · 07/12/2022 13:00

I think it’s human nature to discuss other people. And who doesn’t love a good debate.

it’s human nature to praise people that are awesome and it’s human nature to question one’s that cause trouble.

I don’t seek information on them but they are everywhere at the moment. I go on the news… there they are.

and why? To plug a show where as far as I can see they slag off their family, life and way of life in the uk.

there’s a cost of living crisis and ongoing Issues with the NHS and Strep A. And here they are banging on about how sad they are. It’s rather distasteful.

Maireas · 07/12/2022 13:04

They need it, though. Harry has never been such a huge celebrity and so much in the news. It's their bread and butter as a couple, events, awards shows, speaking engagements, podcasts, Netflix series. They're big news because of their revelations/claims - it's not going to stop, whatever your view on them as a couple.
They've got to hustle and get out there.

Beezone · 07/12/2022 13:12

I guess I just don’t see the point. I feel the same about celebs that have babies and do magazine deals and set up insta accounts to advertise nappies etc. Chuck in a story about PND and boast about breastfeeding and bingo… you’ve got every z list celeb “career path”.

the other royals all have their things. Charles = environment, Kate = early years education, etc. I don’t get what Meg in particular brings to the table.

OP posts:
Maireas · 07/12/2022 13:16

Aren't they about to sweep away "a wall of oppression"?
It's a very curious situation. Meghan clearly had the most atrocious time, and Harry seems very angry and upset, but I can't see contentment and closure coming from all this.

miceonabranch · 07/12/2022 13:17

How have they won an award? They don't do anything (apart from complain about everything).

I'm worried about the toll on the health of members of the Royal Family.

I've grown up with the Royal Family, and I like what they have done to celebrate the work of volunteers. I'm aghast at how far things have gone with Netflix and Meghan and Harry's broadcasts. I think it amounts, to what is, in my own considered opinion, bullying of individuals. I'm no expert on exact thresholds for the term 'bullying' to be used, but it seems that way to me.

I also feel angry that the JFK Foundation, or whatever is their name, is dissing our Royal Family. How can they say the word racism with no empirical evidence that anyone in the Royal Family is racist. It feels scandalous to me.

What is happening now with these broadcasts is unprecedented and of great constitutional significance. From an historical point what is happening deserves the attention of any public-spirited, publicly- aware person.

Maireas · 07/12/2022 13:18

It was an award for challenging the institutional racism in the royal family, according to Kerry Kennedy.

This. As much as it bothers quite a lot of people it would seem. Harry and Meghan are not nobodies, far from it! Not many people can say that their children's Grandfather is the King of England, can they?🙄

SammySawdust · 07/12/2022 13:25

I think they've become fascinating to many people, inasmuch as wondering how low they can go.

I wish I wasn't but I am fascinated. Here you have a couple who have everything yet they choose to trash their family for money and the pursuit of relevance.

It will all come crashing down at some point. Meanwhile we all gawp and wonder at their stupidity and arrogance.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/12/2022 13:27

Great idea OP! I would love it if the press just ignored them, sadly it will never happen.

I'm not sure I go along with the mantra "you get the news you ask for" - it's much more of a chicken and egg situation than that.

Which conveniently coincided with the release of their Netflix show

defi · 07/12/2022 13:28

People just love to hate them

Riapia · 07/12/2022 13:32

Harry was “the spare “ in his single days, he’s simply continuing in the role in his marriage.
Stick to what you do best.

LadyKenya · 07/12/2022 13:35

Even just some of you ahem "lovely" people on here discussing them, will keep them relevant. If you are so bothered by them, you all know what to do, don't you?Xmas Hmm

Omg this. Why do people spend so much time thinking about and talking about people they claim to hate?

It says so much more about their characters than it does about Meghan’s and Harry’s.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/12/2022 13:43

No, I am interested in talking about them and their relationship with the media. Not them as a people, or the royal family. I'm not interested in the minutiae of their complaints, or who said what, but much more in the bigger picture of what they represent in terms of public interest and their relationship with the media.

That, and of course the stupendous hypocrisy when Harry's major complaint, all his life, has been about press intrusion Grin.

I'd love the press to ignore it all! And then they would quietly disappear.
