The press and Harry and Meg

I have just seen a video of Harry and Meg at some awards thing and press are asking them questions about latest going’s on.

I wish journalists/news papers etc would make a stand against them. Stop asking questions, stop putting them front page, turn their backs and put down the cameras as they pass on the red carpet. Literally go silent.

in the latest trailer they have lied and implied they don’t want to be harassed by press (even using footage that is unrelated.

so why don’t the British press make a point and stop the photos and front pages?

Personally I think they are no more relevant to the British public than Kerry Katona! I literally don’t see the point in their “work“.

@Beezone i think the interesting thing here is why you don’t feel that anger towards the other royals who are equally pointless. “Charles has the environment” - does he? I’d love to know what his carbon footprint is because he’s a massive fucking hypocrite on the environment (as is William). And Kate has early years? Really?! What does she know about early years education and the poverty of opportunities that so many kids endure?

I’m no fan of H&M but I’m dumbfounded by the hate they attract from people who at the same time seem to forgive the rest of the royals all their hypocrisy and double standards.

I think the difference is we kind of understand and are used to the hypocrisy of the Royal Family. We know they’re incredibly privileged, and they also profess to talk about the welfare of ordinary people. But we accept the balance of privilege and duty.

What bugs many (I think) about Harry and Meghan is the desire for privilege, celebrity, and admiration without the service. Harry and Meghan seem to want to pick and choose the bits from the accepted bargain.

look at the threads about Catherine Middleton. Most people are clear they don’t envy her because of her gilded cage. I think more people are envious of Meghan

Takes guts to stand up to an institution and the media. I hope that Meghan and Harry are as ruthless to the tabloid media as they have been to them. Looking forward to watching this and glad they refuse to be silenced.

This is why H&M got these deals, you're asking the press to do what you yourself can't do! they have more incentive to talk about H&M because it makes them money, what's your excuse?

You can't help but not notice them at the moment because they are everywhere due to the Netflix show.
It really is the most curious situation. I feel that Meghan is acting constantly, a classic insecure narcissist. Having worked in the acting profession I recognise her qualities. She cannot believe her luck in marrying Harry, having tried to get a date with xfactor stars etc when she first moved to the UK (Google Matt Cardle messages).

She is creating her own movie, her own narrative. The Royal Family could do or say anything and she will stick to her own script because that's all she wants to believe. She is acting.

Also I'd like to know why the palace allows so called 'palace sources' to take over the narrative against Harry and Meghan in the tabloid press. I saw particularly during in lockdown, so many nasty stories about them - everyday. I want to see names - where did these twisted stories come from. I want accountability, receipts and the truth!

They were in NYC and it was the US press, not the British Press?
If the British Press do not print the pictures, then they would be accused of ignoring the news?

@HappinessAlley i don’t think the “duty” outweighs the privilege in any way. And I think many people forget Kate actively chose this life. She cannot possibly have been under any illusions as to what she was getting herself into given what happened to Diana.

Meghan had a much more successful career in her own right than other Royals did who we've only heard of because they're Royals.
If Kate's thing is early years education she's not doing a very good job. Like the NHS, state education is in a terrible state with a severe teacher shortage due to 12 years of tory underfunding. Not that she needs to worry about that at Lambrook.

If Kate really cared about education she'd be speaking up about the teacher shortage affecting GCSE and A level students. I don't remember her mentioning that...

Going off piste here but I don’t believe Meghan was the victim of racism within the family. Nothing malicious or abusive anyway, more likely it came from a place of ignorance. She chose to be offended.

None of us know these people, we have no idea what any of them are like when the public masks come off behind closed doors. M&H could well be lying their arses off, I don't know (and neither do you!) but they could well be telling the truth - you have nothing to base your belief on other than the tittle tattle of people paid to discredit them.

What a nasty piece of work Meghan is! This video speaks volumes. She’s 41 years of age not 14 - it’s about time she grew up and acted her age instead of behaving like a playground bully. Harry is no better than her - look at his silly smirk in the video. He is so besotted by Markle and clearly not man enough to stick up for his ‘beloved grandmother’. Disgusting individual. He dressed up like a nazi and wore a swastika armband to a party and now he bangs on about racism like he is some sort of Puritan. They’re an embarrassment and just need to disappear.

Hang on - you say nobody is invading their privacy...they are, because the press still try to get pictures and interviews from them. They aren't sending those each day to the press. They're just controlling the narrative because, if they don't, it will get controlled for them. The media realise that people don't like them - therefore what sells papers is stories that reinforce that idea. People only want to read stories about how awful they are...if they run a story about how lovely they are, that's not going to sell anything now.

I'm torn on H&M...on the one hand they make some good points and I can see things from their point of view. On the other hand, I find them hideously self indulgent..she is smart but he is as thick as two sort planks and totally infatuated. All the ridiculous drama over the curtsey...

Seem to be constantly hiding them. I don't open them if they are in the above topic before someone tells me I don't have to open them. I am, however allowed to have a view.

They don't mention anything that may rock the boat or turn any of the public against them. That's the whole point.

I’ve said on another thread I’m agnostic to either side and won’t get into debates on who allegedly did or didn’t say X and their intentions, but am intrigued enough to watch the Netflix series as am interested in misinformation and content safeguarding.

What is very clear and really an undisputed fact, Meghan was on the receiving end of more than anyone’s ‘fair share’ of online hate and negative coverage.

When you analyse it she’d not actually ‘done’ anything bad (?) and has probably had 10000 X more coverage than PA or people doing actual dodgy shit. Her ‘crimes’ have been being bossy, tight-gate, shoulder dress protocol and a load of other nonsense. It’s absurd even if you don’t like the pair of them and does point to a lot of underhandness.

Online hate is totally unacceptable and regardless of where the stories came from (RF plant, vindicating trolling or tabloids paid for dirt) there really should be laws around it. Free speech should not be you can make up any old shit and publish it.
