A Kremlin insider said that Putin- was helped to a sofa by bodyguards as his personal doctors rushed to assist him.
Putin is also alleged to have soiled himself during the fall.

I thought I'd seen it all on here but empathising with Putin is a first.

Whether it happened or not, the man is a contemptible shitstain and deserves every bad fortune that befalls him.

It's ok to laugh at the misfortune of evil dictators guys.

BooksAreSaferThanPeople · 03/12/2022 08:51

The sole source of this is a post on telegram by someone claiming to be a Kremlin insider.

As much as I love the idea of Putin being gravely ill, I'll take this with a massive barrel of salt.

I think we also need to be careful about wishing Putin away. He is a truly awful human being, but at least we know him. We have no idea what is waiting in the wings.

MagicFox · 03/12/2022 08:05

Surprised to see so much empathy directed at somebody who is responsible for the brutal deaths of civilians, including children - indiscriminate killings that continue to happen as we speak. Oh, and somebody who has directly threatened us with nuclear obliteration.

Exactly!
Some here actually feel sorry for him, I can’t believe it!
The man doesn’t deserve sympathy, he is hellbent on destruction. He sends young men to war to die while he lives in luxury. What a fucker..

PatriciaPattersonGimlin · 03/12/2022 08:53

If this happened, the chance of it reaching the British newspapers is nil.

Janieread · 03/12/2022 08:57

He's a heavy drinker so this isn't surprising in the slightest.

FootfallFootball · 03/12/2022 04:37

Is that a reliable news source?

It isn't, no.

It's from the General SVR Telegram channel which is one of several ukraine-war channels I follow.

The SVR channel claims to have a closer presence with Putin than the man's own shirt. Most of it reads like a wish fulfilment fantasy. Unfortunately. It would be great if he really did know that much.

If it actually turns out eventually to be one his bodyguards or something it'll be very impressive but really the reports over the months read as nonsense.

shard5 · 03/12/2022 08:59

Allegedly

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 03/12/2022 09:02

The gutter press have picked up a few stories from it, one of which miiiight have had grain of truth (one of his body double's got rammed in an official car) but I doubt we'll find out if it really happened, and certainly not for a long time.

The rest of the stories seem like made up shite though

BobbyBobbyBobby · 03/12/2022 09:08

I support Putin and Russia as I have Russian relatives. It is extremely unlikely that this happened and is just propaganda.

MrsFinkelstein · 03/12/2022 09:09

Meh. It's likely not true.
But I hope it is.
I'm appalled by the "be kind" mantra being dragged out here.
It's OK to be happy at the thought of a cruel dictator dying. There is zero need to empathise.
The man kills anyone he deems a personal or political threat to him with zero compunction.
He has sanctioned the use of chemical weapons. He has sanctioned the use of torture, castration and rape as weapons of war in Ukraine.
He deserves to die utterly humiliated.

Changechangychange · 03/12/2022 09:10

It’s almost certainly all made up.

It isn’t a nice thing to mock, not because I care what Putin thinks, but because I care about the impact on the people, in the UK, who fall and/or soil themselves. It’s common, and people often feel terribly ashamed.

We spend quite a lot of time in hospital reassuring people that it is a bodily function, nothing to be ashamed of, and national headlines mocking somebody else for soiling themselves are really cruel, IMO, because of the message it sends.

It’s hitting the wrong target. Putin won’t care what the Sun says about a fake story. An elderly person who has fallen and soiled themselves WILL feel worse about themselves reading those mocking articles.

Well we will never know, will we? So we'll all have fun presuming that it did happen and that Putin's days are numbered.

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 03/12/2022 09:14

You support Putin? Jesus, someone who supports mass rape, bombing of women and children, 600 + dead in the Mariupol theatre that Russian scum now dance on, starvation and mass forced adoptions, castrations. You really should go and live there.

Besides given Putin's record on truth telling, and his supporters', whatever you say is worthless.

Plenty of people have Russia relatives without turning into walking human refuse.

Georgeskitchen · 03/12/2022 09:14

Pancreatic cancer is the rumour, although looking at recent pictures it looks like it's true .
Hopefully he's not long for this world 😁

Floogal · 03/12/2022 09:18

There were similar rumours about Donald Trump being incontinent and having to wear a nappy. Apparently he would poo himself when he was in a rage and would have to be escorted away by aides to prevent further embarrassment. Doubt that's true tbh

SerendipityJane · 03/12/2022 09:18

I'm appalled by the "be kind" mantra being dragged out here.

It's arguably the logical destination of inclusivity. And if it isn't, what is the line and who gets to draw it ?

There's a famous saying about arguing over the price ...

KettrickenSmiled · 03/12/2022 09:20

daretodenim · 03/12/2022 04:17

I heard this too but I don't like it. Honestly, so what if he did. There are hundreds of thousands of elderly people who fall over and soil themselves and feel ashamed. Worse if they're then stick for hours waiting for an ambulance. I know of it happening to younger people with traumatic injuries too.

There's one hundred million things that Putin can be shamed for. An involuntary bodily reaction that may or may not have happened is ridiculously minor and not worth mentioning.

Why are you being so ludicrously po-faced @daretodenim?

No reporting about Putin, especially regarding his health, is "ridiculously minor".
It is reported he has cancer, this fall may be related, & the entire world is on tenterhooks waiting for the despotic bastard to die so that maybe, just maybe, somebody sane might take over & end this bloody war.

I can't see how your sanctimonious little homily about the health of thousands of unrelated elderly people has any bearing on this - if true - HUGE piece of news.

KettrickenSmiled · 03/12/2022 09:23

Itsabitnotcold · 03/12/2022 06:18

I don't know if I like this. I know the war is horrible and he's made awful things happen to so many people but it seems a bit icky to be talking about someone soiling themselves after a fall. It's not a reflection on his character and its actually more likely to garner sympathy for him anyway.

What a very British reaction.

I doubt anybody in Ukraine shares your lace-hanky-edged sentiments @Itsabitnotcold

Did you not find the invasion of their country & slaughter of civilians a bit icky?

lljkk · 03/12/2022 09:26

I doubt the average Russian does "support" the war.
They want to be patriotic.
They also want a nice prosperous easy life like rest of world.
The case for invading Ukraine has always looked like ideology not a real threat, and Russians know their govt lies.
You have to be so brave in Russia to oppose the govt from left, suppressed not absent.

I have a work meeting soon with a Russian colleague (long time resident of UK) who defended 2014 invasion of Crimea. That left me speechless. I fervently hope I don't have to sit next to her.

KettrickenSmiled · 03/12/2022 09:26

Aishah231 · 03/12/2022 07:56

I'm no fan of Putin but this sounds like obvious propaganda and in very poor taste.

Poopaganda, surely?

CPL593H · 03/12/2022 09:28

My DH is in hospital and has been very unwell and bed bound, with all that entails. His reaction to the Putin story was "Good, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke". I think most people are able to see the difference between something unpleasant happening to a vile dictator or dear old Mr Jones down the road and empathise accordingly (or not, given some comments here)

I think Putin is very ill but this may be propaganda. Don't care, if it diminishes him by just a fraction.

KettrickenSmiled · 03/12/2022 09:29

dudsville · 03/12/2022 08:04

There was a thread earlier in the week started by a poster who had fallen and was embarrassed. Everyone encouraged her to not feel embarrassed saying it was a normal human experience. I agree the the pp's who say this is not the thing Putin should be ashamed of.

Try not to fret @dudsville - the OP who fell was checked out by the supersleuth MN mods, & hasn't invaded Ukraine, killed civilians, bombed hospitals & homes, or let mass rapists loose.

HTH

user1484056932 · 03/12/2022 09:30

He's not the only "leader" to have done this, Biden has also soiled himself a few times as well.

I’m not sure if it’s a plea for sympathy, or if it’s an attempt to retain discipline of mind and cling to some values, of rationality and respect, that are supposed to make the difference between us and murdering psychopathic dictators.

I also wouldn’t get too excited about Putin’s mortality without knowing who else is out there.
