EVRI put parcel in blue bin while we were away and it's been emptied by bin men

We have never requested that they put any of our parcels in the bins but quite a few times they have done this now. We often take parcels in for the other neighbors and they're always do the same so don't know why they put it in the blue bin. Last week I ordered a £50 sweatshirt for DP for Christmas. We've been away since Tuesday, just got back today and neighbor must of pulled out blue bin while we were away as it's been emptied with the parcel inside. Parcel said it was delivered yesterday, the same day the bins get emptied. I guess there's nothing really we can do is there?

I would definitely explain that the parcel had not reached you and expect a replacement.

Really don't see why this would be a 'nothing we can do' situation unless you actually asked them to deliver to the bin.

Who would do that ?

Showmethecardis · 02/12/2022 13:24

Of course there’s something you can do. Get the refund you’re legally allowed

MaggieFS · 02/12/2022 13:26

Go back to the retailer with whom your contract is and complain, get a refund or replacement. As long as you've never said it's ok to put items in the bin, it's not your fault.

Shgytfgtf111 · 02/12/2022 13:26

They did similar to me with a very expensive order from Next (wasnt planning on keeping it all but we bought a lot of different sizes of things), left it in a bin but it wasnt even on my estate, just my house number on a different estate. I contacted Next and they reissued the order, effectively writing off about £800 worth of stuff including two watches.

Outfor150 · 02/12/2022 13:27

Eh? Of course there’s something you can do! Contact them and get them to redeliver, of course.

Whatsthestorytomorrow · 02/12/2022 13:28

Why did you order something if you were going to be away for the delivery?

There are options to deliver elsewhere or to a delivery locker for example. Obviously the bin is a stupid place to leave an item though.

hollyjolls · 02/12/2022 13:29

I know how shite evri are and how difficult it is to get in touch with them. It was through asos but it just keeps re-directing me to evri and it's an automated chat.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 13:29

Just tell them - they will reissue it.

Emmelina · 02/12/2022 13:31

Contact the retailer, they should have a way of claiming from Evri and be able to reimburse you.

Saladd0dger · 02/12/2022 13:32

They did the same to me last week. Delivered my parcel nearly a week early with no note through the door. I only knew it had been delivered because I went online to tell Amazon I hadn’t received it. I looked through my doorbell footage and could see the driver put it in there. Was really lucky because the bin was on the street for collection and 10 mins later it got emptied

Oooooooooooooh · 02/12/2022 13:32

Your contract is with Asos. They contracted evri. Asos need to refund you or replace and sort it out with evri, nothing to do with you

It would of easily fit through the letter box, it wasn't signed for or anything. There's always a neighbour in either side of us aswell.

Evri are awful at responding to complaints. I’d try to pursue it through asos for a refund.

Itsbiasedhere · 02/12/2022 13:41

Your legally entitled to a refund but it really grates me as a delivery driver when people order stuff but then aren't in to receive it. I never order to home unless I am going to be in. Of course people complain if it goes back to depot that only opens during core hours and they moan if you leave it with someone else or in a safe place.

They won't have written it off, they will have put in a claim for the cost of the goods with the couriers. The company I work for sends stuff out by courier, and that's what my colleague does if things go missing. She claims against the courier for the cost of the contents of the lost parcel, and they refund us.

Jaybird43 · 02/12/2022 13:46

@hollyjolls this happened to me but with a £100 Entertainer order! I contacted The Entertainer and they re-sent the whole order to me - maybe speak to the company you ordered from?

Ohcrapp · 02/12/2022 13:48

Yes this!! There's a guy across the road who works Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and has multiple deliveries a week. I WFH so I get them all (and say yes because I feel sorry for the courier!)
(Not to mention that he never bothers to collect them ... including pet food in bulk Hmm)

pluckie · 02/12/2022 13:51

I was expecting a delivery from evri for the following day and I asked him if he could leave it in my recycling bin. He told me that they were not allowed to do this anymore due to bins being emptied along with the parcel. I've had many deliveries from prime found in my recycling.

uhOhOP · 02/12/2022 13:55

Evri drivers are the absolute worst.

GeraltsGirl · 02/12/2022 13:57

Similar happened to me, management checked to see if I'd left a 'leave in a safe space' request and because I hadn't, they were able to refund me the cost of the lost item. It took about 2 weeks though!

You can’t always guarantee what day something is going to be delivered so can’t expect someone to always be home. Hence why options for delivering to neighbour or leaving in a safe place are there.

I’m due a delivery from Evri today, paid extra for next day delivery. It’s a gift for a family member who I am seeing tonight and won’t see again before Christmas. Evri have emailed to say there’s a delay and it won’t be delivered today. They really are the worst delivery company I’ve ever encountered.

uhOhOP · 02/12/2022 13:55

Evri drivers are the absolute worst.

Fortunately ours is absolutely brilliant and goes above and beyond. I dread it when he takes holidays because the replacement couriers are awful. I found a parcel inside my gas meter box only because I went to take a reading. No card, nothing. Our regular chap would never have done that.

OP, you need to get past the chat bot on ASOS, once you do they are pretty good and will sort it out.

Showmethecardis · 02/12/2022 14:52

I never order to home unless I am going to be in

is this for real? How on earth do you know exactly when something will arrive. Should I stay in 24/7?

Alloftheboys · 02/12/2022 15:07

Had a delivery last week by Evri. I was checking the tracking while I was at work and it was supposed to arrive when I was at home.
Got home and they’d launched it over my back fence without bothering to leave it with a neighbour.
Online tracking didn’t confirm it was delivered till about 5 hours later. Good job it didn’t rain!
