EVRI put parcel in blue bin while we were away and it's been emptied by bin men

We have never requested that they put any of our parcels in the bins but quite a few times they have done this now. We often take parcels in for the other neighbors and they're always do the same so don't know why they put it in the blue bin. Last week I ordered a £50 sweatshirt for DP for Christmas. We've been away since Tuesday, just got back today and neighbor must of pulled out blue bin while we were away as it's been emptied with the parcel inside. Parcel said it was delivered yesterday, the same day the bins get emptied. I guess there's nothing really we can do is there?

Your legally entitled to a refund but it really grates me as a delivery driver when people order stuff but then aren't in to receive it. I never order to home unless I am going to be in. Of course people complain if it goes back to depot that only opens during core hours and they moan if you leave it with someone else or in a safe place.

Seriously, I have had 2 parcels sat with evri at the delivery depot for over a week. One is coming today, (in theory) the other god knows when. Am I supposed to sit in every day between when they are supposed to deliver and when they actually bother to do it!

I got home yesterday from picking up DC1 and found Amazon parcels in the hall; they'd been on the doorstep when DS2 came in having been delivered in the 18 minute window when no one was in the house. I'd been in the majority of the day and it's just sod's law they arrived in a short window when no one was around. They were also a couple of days earlier than I expected. No harm done, but it's a more than a tad unrealistic to expect people not to order things on an off chance they might be getting on with life at that moment.

I was deeply unimpressed several years ago when Royal Mail put the DCs' delivery of school uniform into the rather unpleasant household waste bin. Plenty of other sensible places were avaliable without resorting to putting deliveries into receptacles for waste disposal.

OP, I'd complain to the retailer.

I know how shite evri are and how difficult it is to get in touch with them. It was through asos but it just keeps re-directing me to evri and it's an automated chat.

I saw a thing on tik tok about how to actually speak to someone at Evri and it had a phone number etc. let me see if I can find it for you

thisismylittlebrotherGeorge · 02/12/2022 16:27

Found it

Also ordered a jumper once. Parcel driver thought it was a good idea to throw it over a farm gate with pictures of ddogs and a Beware ddogs roam loose sign on it.
Ddogs throughly enjoyed playing tug of war with it.

Ilikewinter · 02/12/2022 16:33

I actively avoid ordering from any company that use Evri yet I still find myself a victim. I ordered some skincare from a company who ALWAYS use royal mail, ordered over black friday and guess who they've despatched it with...yep EVRI.
Its currently sat "delayed" , fair to say I wont be ordering from the company again.

Considering I've had about 2 parcels out of 20 turn up on the day they specified when I ordered, that would be a fruitless task.

TheTeddyBears · 02/12/2022 16:43

You can't act company you bought it from and tell them it hasn't been delivered. Let them know you've been away and apparently been left in a bin but wasn't there when you got back. They'll either refund u or send another. It isn't ur fault it's the delivery company.

kindlyensure · 02/12/2022 16:46

I mean I'm jealous they actually made it to your house, tbh.

I have three parcels (all different companies) sat in their 'delivery centre' for nearly two weeks now. Something's up. Maybe they've all gone on hols.

I'm going to be more savvy when I'm ordering online now and actively avoid any company using them.

kindlyensure · 02/12/2022 16:47

^^ (And one of them's an Oodie! And it's cold!!!!)

hollyjolls · 02/12/2022 17:50

Thanks all, I managed to speak to someone on the live chat on asos and they said they've opened an investigation and I will hear in 2 working days, I requested a replacement so fingers crossed.

You do know most people have to work right? 🙄
No excuses for delivery drivers putting parcels in bins, throwing them in gardens etc. leave them outside the front door or if you can't do that take them back to the office. It's not rocket science!

Irridescantshimmmer · 02/12/2022 17:59

Yeah, you are entitled to a full refund and the seller will have to make a claim from EVRI.

Its not to your fault and its not the sellers' fault.

Next time the courier needs to post themselves in the blue bin and get hauled away in it.

wishuponastar1988 · 02/12/2022 18:03

Similar happened to me with evri. I contacted the company who I bought the item off, they basically told me evri had marked it as delivered so in their eyes it was (even though it was left on the door step and not there when I got home!). I then recalled the payment via my bank, they're investigating at the moment

How are you supposed to guarantee you're home for every delivery? I've got several parcels due this week but they only say they'll arrive between (for example) 9 to 12th Dec. Am I supposed to stay home every day until they arrive?

Not every company does next day or specified delivery & even if they do you're often at the mercy of the courier as to whether it comes on time

crussont · 02/12/2022 18:14

What bin is the blue bin?

Maybe stick a sign on the top saying DONT CHUCK PARCELS IN THIS BIN

Even when I tell Royal Mail I won't be in so deliver on x y z day instead they ignore it

AliMonkey · 02/12/2022 18:21

My Evri driver is great - always cheery and pleasant, things come on time, if not in he puts them in our "safe place"; plus I always get an email saying "arriving between x and y and possibility of rearranging". And never yet had a problem with an Evri parcel being delivered to the recipient, so can't just be my driver who is good. So please don't say they're all useless!

My bugbear is the drivers (mostly Amazon) who leave parcels on the doorstep in full view of the road - I'm amazed they've never been stolen.

ThisMammaCat · 02/12/2022 18:24

As somebody who has some very nice boots en route with Evri, this has me paranoid- as they were due today and today is bin day. I can only hope the bins were done early enough to have not contained my boots! They won't be easy to replace if lost...size 42 fancy blue Irregular Choice meows! Ack! Not to mention the New Rocks due next week. Wish I'd not opened this thread 😅

Peckhampalace · 02/12/2022 18:37

Evri delivered to me this week and told me at 12.10 the slot was 12-2.,. someone would have been here if we had any notice (was found hidden behind bin but nothing through door to give us a clue).

justasking111 · 02/12/2022 18:45

Our evri driver is fab. If you have a bin problem. Print out note saying DO NOT LEAVE PARCELS IN THE BLUE BIN PLEASE. print put in a plastic bag and tape to the blue bin

Zodiacsigns · 02/12/2022 18:45

What is going on with the bin men? How are they seeing an unopened parcel in a recycling bin and thinking it's recycling? Unless it's very small it would be really obvious. Are they keeping it? They're quick enough to dump anything else they think shouldn't be in the recycling on the floor/leave it in the bin and not take it/refuse to empty the bin full stop. Our blue bin is for paper and dead electronics, a sealed parcel is very obviously not these.

Hope you can sort it out with ASOS OP. I stopped shopping with them when I realised there's no phone number to contact them in case of a problem and all online reviews I saw said trying to get hold of them is impossible.

Yes this is exactly what I thought, they always open the lid and check before emptying them so pretty sure they would of seen an unopened package lying on the top.

EBearhug · 02/12/2022 19:20

Our bin men (and they are all men) just hang a pair of bins on the back of the lorry, press a button to upend them, then swap them for the next ones. If your bin's on the pavement, it'll be emptied. If it's not, it won't be.

What I particularly love is Amazon packages of books being left on the front door step when it's bucketing down.

I order stuff all the time delivery drivers turn up somewhere between 8am and 10pm. You can’t expect people to wait in. I have a parcel box on doorstep so they leave it in there. No need to shove it in the bin.
