Can I see under your stairs?

Following on from the fabulous bedroom thread which gave me so much inspiration!

we have a slanted space under our stairs that is very badly used to chuck shoes/bags etc in and it looks a mess. We have some of those shoe holders but they seem to be stuffed full of shoes that are not in regular use. I feel like we could do so much with the space but I’m not sure how!! Anyone want to share how you organise this space?

We put a downstairs loo in under ours and then the rest of the smaller triangle space holds a shoe rack and space for wellies and school bags etc. it’s quite tidy but we Are going to put doors at the front just so that we don’t have to see it every time we walk past. We did consider the space tidy drawers but actually what we’ve got is perfect for us storage wise.

We have some Kallax units under ours. I bought boxes for the bottom for things like shoes, crisps, etc., then have kept the shelves on top either full size or used the shelf dividers for storage on the other shelves.

They're much fuller now. This was the weekend I did it. I like to bake so I store things like big bags of flour and sugar on the shelves and other things we bulk buy from Costco as our kitchen is pretty small.

We have the electricity meter,vacuum cleaner,steam mop,a shelf which houses spare light bulbs and a torch,a foot spa,tennis racquets,picnic basket,weighted hula hoop,a volleyball,couple of snorkel and masks,beach umbrella and 3 huge plastic storage boxes with Christmas decorations.Basically a random selection of things ,some more useful than others.

The inside of our understairs cupboard doesn't bear thinking about, let alone taking a photo of.

Ours is a shit tip. I have to lean over all the crap to reach something. I keep saying to DH, we must sort it out. Then we don’t.

I have two custom made cupboards. The doors are flush with magnetic catches so no handles - you wouldn't know they are there unless you know they are there! It's where I've hidden all the Xmas presents!

Five thousand hooks, a shoe rack and the hoover. I love it.

We don't have a space under our stairs, as such. We have kitchen on one side, lounge on the other.

I've just had this fitted by a local carpenter and I LOVE it.

Ours originally had stairs leading down to an undercroft but these had been blocked off at the top during a previous owner's time. The understairs space is in our kitchen and as we don't yet have a utility we made it into a small laundry area.
