What's something you're looking forward to?

I'm going to Uluru/Ayers Rock for the second time in my life next month. I went before and absolutely fell in love with the landscape. It felt so magical. After the hike, I had a wonderful dinner and glass of wine. I just felt so alive and happy.

I can't wait to go again and have a different experience.

What's something you're looking forward to however big or small? 🌼

Christmas 🤶 the kids are older now but the youngest is still massively excited! It's a nice break from work for the grown ups too.

A one-day coach trip to a famous old city - too far to feel comfortable driving there for a day - I couldn't care less about the Christmas market, but will have a lovely mooch around the town - will be able to nap on the way home - comfort of familiar bed and bathroom at the end of the day.

Seeing Book of Mormon this week! 😁

Twospaniels · 13/11/2022 20:40

Birthday weekend away in Norfolk in our caravan (touring not static) - so cosy in there at this time of year and we will get plenty of lovely walking done.

Hillrunning · 13/11/2022 20:42

I'm looking forward to hearing how last weeks job interview went, my birthday, Christmas, February exams, my best friend coming to stay and visiting my parents.

In thw more short term, I'm looking forward to bed!

This has reminded me I don't really have anything right now. I was looking forward to seeing Biffy Clyro but that was on Friday. No holidays booked. Xmas I guess. Seeing next payday Grin

We have two tasting menus coming up at Michelin starred restaurants 🤩. One with the kids and one with friends. So looking forward to them both!

rainydays365 · 14/11/2022 11:07

Going to Ireland this weekend very excited

Nineteen60s · 14/11/2022 11:24

I’m going away on a writing holiday soon…..I don’t know anyone else going at all, it will just be me and about 6 others. Very indulgent! Leaving husband and teenager at home - I don’t think they will miss me in the slightest.
I feel so excited about it, but am trying not to be! (In the past, I have found that if I REALLY look forward to something, it can be a disappointment - and sometimes other things that I’m not fussed about can be surprisingly good. Does anyone else find this?)

Anyway, I just want to get away, meet new people, have a bit of time to myself, eat and drink and enjoy pleasant scenery whilst trying to do some good writing!!

KangarooKenny · 14/11/2022 11:34

I’ve nothing to look forward too. I feel left out now !

weebarra · 14/11/2022 11:39

QueefofSheena · 14/11/2022 11:51

The annual big gathering of friends for a pre-Christmas meal. Its been off for the last couple of years so it will be lovely to reinstate the tradition. Also several gigs and a hopefully quiet Christmas with DH & teen/adult DC

Giggorata · 14/11/2022 11:53

Another family get together in Centreparc next year and the World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow in 2024.
Also, on a smaller scale, the Snooker, and the arrival of a retro design music player thingy today.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 14/11/2022 12:37

Haircut and colour then dinner with friends in the week

DH birthday soon so we're having a night away at the seaside and seeing friends/ going to a gig.

Meeting two lovely friends who I haven't seen for a couple of months for a catch up.

A few days away between Christmas and New Year in Norwich and Colchester

Museum visits.

ABBA Voyage in the New Year

Booking a holiday for next summer!!

I realise I'm very very lucky, now it's written down.

Yes I get you. I tend not to feel excited until things happen as disappointment can definitely happen. But then I also think why rob yourself of the excitement - it can be a lovely wave to ride.

Lovely thread!

I'm very much looking forward to picking my DC up from school/preschool. Nobody has any activities on a Monday so we can just come home and have a lovely afternoon and evening together.

Longer term - I'm looking forward to... the kids' Christmas holidays, a big winter climb that DH and I have planned when his parents are staying, the possibility of skiing (come on snow!), Thanksgiving at our American friends' house, the youngest DC's birthday, and all the December stuff - carols, getting the tree, how excited the kids get about the advent candle and calendars... gosh, so much.

We had a really awful bereavement last autumn so this time last year I was going through the motions with a lot of this stuff. It feels so good this year to be really relishing it all.
