Alcohol free drinks thread! What are your favourites?

Hello

I can’t find the really interesting thread of a few years ago where lots of people listed and reviewed their favourite AF drinks. So I wondered if there might be interest in doing the same sort of thing again.

Please tell me your favourite alcohol free drinks? Whether that’s drinks you have because you’re pregnant or are otherwise unable to drink, to save a bit of money, to have a break from alcohol or when you’re designated driver, or any other reason. Can be as basic as a really nice squash or concentrate with fizzy water, or as fancy as fermented kombucha type thingies and begins…

I would love to hear ideas :)

Sorry I don’t mean to be sanctimonious. This probably exists somewhere else. I wojld fine it really helpful even if no one else does.

Non alcoholic craft beers.
Brew Dog do nice ones.

Newbootstoday · 10/11/2022 06:40

Guiness zero is going pretty good

Corona Cero

Lagattolove · 10/11/2022 06:47

Ginger and lime cordial
White grape juice and soda water
Elderflower cordial soda water topped with a splash of ginger ale
fake pimms - balsamic vinegar in lemonade (this sounds weird but is lovely)

chocolateisavegetable · 10/11/2022 06:53

I love Shloer - the white grape version

GoodnightGentleBoris · 10/11/2022 06:55

non alcoholic beers are good - brewdog has a great one, becks blue and corona zero

the non alcoholic wines taste hideous though, like sour grape juice (which is what they are really)

HangryFeminist · 10/11/2022 06:59

MashGang do amazing nonalcoholic beers. I also love making non alcoholic mojitos. Lashings of lime and mint for extra flavour punch. Yummy.

halfthesun · 10/11/2022 07:09

Orange juice and ginger beer - surprisingly delicious Grin

ButteredJorts · 10/11/2022 07:10

Totally with the non alcoholic beers!
Brewdogs are amazing, especially Nanny State.
Guinness zero tastes exactly like Guinness should.
Ghost Ship is another great one.
Erdinger is alright as well and seems to be the most commonly sold one in a lot of pubs.

I really don't like the non alcoholic versions of Heineken, Becks etc. They have a weird taste to me, but then I was always more of an ale/stout woman anyway so that might be why?!

Have now added MashGang to my must try list, thanks PP!

Agree that non alcoholic wines are just horrible.

I don't mind the odd coke or lemonade but I resent paying pub prices and I much prefer the taste of beer. Ditto virgin cocktails, without the booze it's just very expensive fruit juice!

crumbsneverdid · 10/11/2022 07:23

The new J20 spritz are lovely. I have instead of a white wine spritzer.

SaltyLemons · 10/11/2022 07:24

I've found the best non alcoholic beer/lager to be Moretti Zero. Brew dog also good for something flatter.

For wine, it's expensive but I'd recommend Oddbird. Their sparkling rose is a great champagne substitute and the red isn't bad (the best of non alcoholic reds I've found, though I do find good non alcoholic red or white wine is very very hard to come by)

Coraline353 · 10/11/2022 07:32

I like the Seedlip 42 and tonic - some flavoured tonics like cucumber are lovely with it

Asher33 · 10/11/2022 07:33

San Miguel alcohol free

kopperberg do nice alcohol free ciders

Slimjimtobe · 10/11/2022 07:34

Just slimline tonic when I don’t want alcohol and I put sliced lemon or lime in - I like that

50but17inside · 10/11/2022 07:38

TRIP lemon and basil, love them.

BeagleMumma · 10/11/2022 07:40

Now I don't know how it compares to actual Gin and tonic (I've never had any sort of alcohol)

But I really like the little cans of fake G and T. Tesco do a nice one and I like the Gordon's too. Gordon's also do Big bottles of original and pink gin

IsletsOfLangerhans · 10/11/2022 07:48

I’ve tried quite a few non-alcoholic beers over the years and Free Damm is currently at the top of my list.

AltheaVestr1t · 10/11/2022 07:49

Lucky Saint is the best AF beer I have found. Personally I am very partial to an Appletise. I have never found a decent wine substitute though.

MagpiePi · 10/11/2022 07:53

I'm a Guinness 0% fan and I like Sharp's Doom Bar.

I find that AF lagers give me a slight headache the next day.

If I'm out in a pub I drink soda and lime, but i find it too sweet after a while.

Riverlee · 10/11/2022 07:56

Robinson Lime and mint squash - lovely chilled, (good alternative to pimms)

elderflower drinks

tesco apple and elderflower squash

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 10/11/2022 07:56

As PPs have said, Brewdog.
I also like Tanqueray alcohol free gin.

MKCH · 10/11/2022 07:58

Guinness 0% is great, as close to the real thing as you can get.

Erdinger grapefruit is delicious.

But this takes the medal - I found it in sainsburys and it actually tastes real
Obviously depends on whether you like blanc de blanc or champagne but I am stocking up on this for Christmas / NY!

Yes! I drank that whilst pregnant.

I also love the Nirvana Brewery Helles larger & the Beavertown Lazer Crush IPA and the Brooklyn Brewery Special Effects - all taste great to me!

Also a nice tonic water like the Fentiman's Mediterranean with a slice of orange in, or some lime & fresh mint.

CantSleepCountingSheep · 10/11/2022 08:56

(Drank the Sainsbury's fizz whilst PG I mean)
