Is it yours?

That’s not that exceptional for some parts/pockets of the world.
I hope they are enjoying themselves!

TheSproutOfWrath · 05/11/2022 10:54

Blimey. If only it was mine. Lucky sods.

howaboutchocolate · 05/11/2022 10:55

Maybe they're about to pay a deposit on a house. That's the only time my current account has seen that much money!
Otherwise that amount of money would be much better off in a savings account.

Nice. We could have a lovely Christmas with that.

Cuddlywuddlies · 05/11/2022 11:20

I think having money like this (somewhere, not necessarily in a current account) is more common than ppl think.

katseyes7 · 05/11/2022 11:26

I once found one of these receipts a few years ago when l went to a cash machine. The balance was almost £50k.

Palmface · 05/11/2022 11:28

Isn't it recommended to have enough for a few months living expenses in the bank? Not an easy thing for a lot of people obviously, but we have about this much in our current account just in case. I wouldn't say it's excessive.

PollyAmour · 05/11/2022 11:31

I would love to have that kind of cash on my current account, but I'd probably go wild and spend it all in a week, on lovely food, drink, clothes and nights out.

Shallow as a puddle, who me?

mrsjimhopper · 05/11/2022 11:31

Would you keep that amount in a current account! I wouldn't!

Alighttouchonthetiller · 05/11/2022 11:32

I hope they enjoy it, and are warm and comfortable after earning it.

Wheretheskyisblue · 05/11/2022 11:34

I like to keep £20k in my santander current account as the interest rate is pretty good and I don't have to worry month to month about having enough money to clear mortgage, credit cards etc

Yarrawonga · 05/11/2022 11:34

I would unless your current account is paying generous interest. Better to stick it in an instant access savings account.

Allicando · 05/11/2022 11:35

One of the GPs that I used to work with left a copy of her bank statement in the photocopier, my rather gobby loud team leader found it and told us how much she had in her current account. I was very very jealous!

Cuddlywuddlies · 05/11/2022 12:03

@Palmface yes it is recommended @Yarrawonga i have mine in a savings account which is attached to my current. I can switch between them on my app it’s great.

Not long term, no, but I've just paid my mortgage off with some savings and for about 9 days the money was sitting in my current account - a similar amount to that.

Doesn't mean I'm rich in that I just have that much in my account to play with. Just sorting my finances out.

Realistnotpessimist · 05/11/2022 12:17

Disgusting to post this on the internet. They aren't stealth boasting ffs. You don't know them and have no idea about their lives and what they did to earn their money.

I was just about to say this. Open to online theft and not earning any interest.

Might just be about to pay a deposit on a house or pay cash on a car. Might not be intending to keep it there long. Certainly not intending it to be splashed on the internet I'm sure.

RoachTheHorse · 05/11/2022 12:25

Mine looks like that as we've just borrowed to pay for building work. It's in no way our usual state 😭

fleurdelee · 05/11/2022 12:29

I was
Laughing at something on twitter that was talking about a 4 digit pin to protect my 3 figure bank balance which rang very true

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 05/11/2022 12:32

We once had stupid money on our current account thanks to selling our house. I kept the ATM slip as a souvenir. Grin

mrsjimhopper · 05/11/2022 11:31

Why not? Santander has been one of the best places to keep 20k for a few years.

RishisProudMum · 05/11/2022 12:44

I’m sorry if this sounds stupid, but if you wouldn’t keep it in your current account, where would you keep it? Let’s say you were planning to buy in six months and had circa £100K in a few current accounts. What would you do with it?

FayeGovan · 05/11/2022 12:48

Lucky buggers. All these posters saying they hope the enjoy it and are happy etc etc. Bollocks to that. I hope they are as miserable as fucking sin 😂
