Hate when authors do this

Don't get characters ages correct. In the book I'm reading a female character has been to university, worked as a teacher for a bit, met married and bought a house with someone and then had a child.

Eventually her son moves abroad for a job and she's an empty nester at 38! So ridiculous should be at least 45.

I know it's a silly thing but it's ruined the book for me

@Fancylike - aw, that's very nice of you! And YY, I really appreciated such a nice response to my initial shamefully snappy reply.

Yes I hate inconsistencies in books like this. It’s enough to ruin the book for me and stop me reading the rest of it. I also hate when authors give all their characters really unusual exotic sounding names. It just isn’t realistic and I can’t take the book seriously as I’m reading it. I wish authors just picked normal names for their characters lol sometimes character names remind me of the bizarre baby names that celebrities choose for their children 🤣

Horse chestnut is native to the Balkan Peninsula. It was first introduced to the UK from Turkey in the late 16th century and widely planted (source: woodland trust)

Well. That's my flabber well and truly gasted.

So you're right. Not late medieval then.
