I can’t believe it’s closing!! It was a standing ovation all three times I’ve been and I’ve seen a lot of theatre productions and that hasn’t happened before!! Totally recommend it to anyone.

Oww what a super apt thread. I went to see it this week after hearing it was closing and it's honestly the best musical I've seen!

Unicorn2022 · 26/10/2022 09:32

My DD was desperate to see this and we saw it in April. I go to the theatre at least once a month and it was honestly the worst show I have ever seen. I thought it would never end! Sorry you will miss it but I'm looking forward to a new show at the Phoenix.

Whinge · 26/10/2022 09:59

I'm another who is sad it's closing. For me it was the best show i've seen at the theatre, even better than Hamilton. I know it doesn't have as strong a following as other shows, but the way it's performed with such a minimal set and cast is simply outstanding.

MargaretThursday · 26/10/2022 10:13

I don't think you can go by standing ovations.
We go a lot to the theatre in London and it's more common to have one than not on the ones I've been to.

It's an okay show, but not one I'd go back to.

Zarzuela · 26/10/2022 14:30

Totally loved it and would have gone again if had the money.
We had a few months free of Apple TV and watched the recording several times.

thisnthat · 26/10/2022 14:34

Fabulous show! Have seen it twice and would happily see it again. Very sad it’s closing, many shows seem to be struggling 😢

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/10/2022 14:45

I am going to see the last performance, third time I've been. Fabulous show, very moving in parts and the impromptu music at the end had everyone on their feet last time I went.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/10/2022 14:47

had everyone on their feet clapping along last time I went.

Sadly I'd never heard of it before so have missed my chance. What other musicals do you all consider underrated?

Chatterboxy · 26/10/2022 16:19

I saw Dear Evan Hansen, didn’t enjoy it all, couldn’t understand what all the hype was about from others who said it was amazing! 🤷‍♀️

Skelligsfeathers · 26/10/2022 16:22

I absolutely LOVED this show. It was brilliant

NOt closing until January

Onlyhereforchaletschool · 26/10/2022 16:26

We saw it just before the 2020 lockdown. The message of everyone coming together in adversity helped me through the pandemic. Honestly it’s one of the very best things I’ve seen. Possibly my favourite musical ever. I really had hoped to see it again before it closes in January but I’m not sure I’ll get there. If anyone reading this has a chance to see it .. do! And it’s on Apple TV if you can’t get to the theatre.

Chewbecca · 26/10/2022 16:49

I loved it. It was the first show I saw after covid and I cried. Not sure if it was the show itself or my joy at being in a theatre again. Very high emotion!

Rollingdownland · 26/10/2022 16:50

It was my first show after covid too, and I also cried with happiness.

Fantastic show - everyone who hasn't been should go.

Whinge · 26/10/2022 19:08

I agree. If you have an opportunity to go and see it before it closes then you should definitely do so.

Trumpton · 26/10/2022 19:11

This is lovely to hear. I have a ticket for November ( I had to cancel last year as I was not well). My first trip to London since 2018. Chemo, Covid and caring for mil got in the way. I am vair vair excited!

You'll have a truly awesome evening it's insane how underrated it is compared to other shows! Take some tissues though.

For anyone else who hasn't got tickets if you can try to get them before January do so, it's well worth it.

kikisparks · 26/10/2022 19:25

I really enjoyed this show but it wasn’t my favourite. I think it was to do with the ensemble cast when I quite like a show with a protagonist. I adore the song Me and the Sky though and the story behind it.

sourcreampringle · 26/10/2022 19:28

I’m going to see it for a 3rd (and final) time in a few weeks. Have always managed to get really good seats quite cheap and constantly saw the tickets on offer so had a feeling it would close :( It’s a shame as it’s such a beautiful show but so many I know have never heard of it!

@Beees Ah thank you. I always go prepared with tissues! The poor man sitting next to me at War Horse!

I was very glad of a dark theatre at War Horse. Cried my eyes out.

Same! Weirdly I really like the soundtrack but watching the performance did nothing for me.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/10/2022 19:33

I thought it was ok. DP loathed it.

I wish they had sung the words more clearly. I found it hard to follow in places as I couldn’t always make out what they were saying.
