I can’t believe it’s closing!! It was a standing ovation all three times I’ve been and I’ve seen a lot of theatre productions and that hasn’t happened before!! Totally recommend it to anyone.

'Oprah called me. Oprah.....'

🤣🤣🤣

Some of the lines were hilarious

I've found one cat, do you think it was Lyle who was barking!! 😂

gogohmm · 26/10/2022 19:37

Amazing show so the opening cast, hoping it comes on tour as I've moved further from London

The Lyle line had me in hysterics. Grin

Dark theaters are fabulous places to shed a few tears. Me and the sky had me silently sobbing and hits all the more following the jovial bar scenes.

mondaytosunday · 26/10/2022 19:37

I thought it very good, but not the best. Mind you I didn't think (relatively recent) American in Paris or Phantom or Wicked all that either. And I hated Cats. I do rate Lion King.

akissbeforebed · 26/10/2022 19:42

I had no idea this was closing - we had tickets then - Covid. It was rescheduled and cancelled a couple of times and then I just gave up and got a refund. DD is now at uni and I thought we had time...

Thanks to this thread I have now booked tickets for us when she's home for Christmas (not many tickets left) so thank you for posting :)

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/10/2022 19:43

Oh, the Lyle line 😅. And the gay guy who goes around collecting barbecues who's pretty sure he's going to get shot but instead gets offered cups of tea.

It's very moving as well. I'm thinking of the Jewish man who escaped the holocaust and never told anyone he was Jewish until he confided in a rabbi who was also stranded - and the way the community pulled together to respect and cater for all the different religions of people on the planes.

FartOutLoudDay · 26/10/2022 19:48

Saw it Christmas 2019 and loved it - I’m really hoping it will tour as wanted to see it again but won’t make it before January. Ditto Evan Hansen which kids are desperate to see but we missed out on.

Delighted that you've managed to book tickets! I think one downfall of the play is how poorly advertised it is. Even people who regularly go to the theatre or live in Central London have never heard of it or seen it. For example I've just come back and there were tons of signs on lamp posts advertising that the life of pi is ending in January but absolutely nothing for come from away.

I watched the Broadway version and didn't like it at all. I was genuinely really disappointed as I had high hopes.

Has anyone seen Six? Is it any good as was thinking of going to see that too.

I really enjoyed Six, it was very well done but easily forgettable.

Fuckallthetories · 26/10/2022 21:24

I also loved the songs, particularly me and the sky and 28 hours

i’ll have to watch it on Apple TV!!

DD and I loved it. We wear our badges now and then but always quote the Lyle line when someone is being a bit of a numpty 😁

I need one that badge, it's blooming awesome!

We went a few weeks ago and they were giving them away as we left. Makes me smile every time I see it 😁

I'll have to look if I can find one, sadly no free awesome badges when I went. It would make me smile if I saw you wearing it too.

H1Drangea · 26/10/2022 21:40

It was my first time in theatre since covid too , how excited I was to have my bag searched ( just like the old days !)
I loved it , I wasn’t sure what to expect , felt every emotion laughed and cried , felt the heart gripping fear we all felt on September 11th , then cried even more when they sang Make me a channel of your peace
I hope it does the rounds of the provincial theatres , so I can see it again

Les Miserables though , wept through all my tissues and needed my scarf to mop my tears

Something’s Missing is the one that always gets me because it really was such a life shattering event for us all, no matter how remote we were from it. The world really did change in an instant.

The world really did change that day. The show makes you laugh, makes you smile and then suddenly hits you with the situation and makes you cry. And repeat.

I think it’s a very special piece of theatre and wish it were more widely known.

Unicorn2022 · 28/10/2022 10:59

Just had notification that Today Tix is offering tickets from £15 if anyone wants to see if.

50but17inside · 02/11/2022 19:14

God I just saw this, what an amazing show. A wonderful, wonderful piece of theatre. Loved everything about it.

countbackfromten · 02/11/2022 19:29

I am seeing it twice before it closes and cannot wait. Such a wonderful uplifting musical!

ButterflyBiscuit · 02/11/2022 19:33

We're going after Christmas and before New Year. Tickets were a lot more than £15 though!!!!! And that wasn't even for the stalls...

I am so hoping we enjoy it as its a big xmas present for the whole family really. (And my kids want to go to the new Theatre cafe diner...)

Houseplantmad · 02/11/2022 19:34

Worst show ever - I can't believe it has lasted this long!

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 02/11/2022 19:36

Oh I’m gutted!

I had tickets for the first week of lockdown, obviously cancelled, rearranged but theatres still didn’t open then rearranged a 3rd time and it was cancelled and now I don’t live in the U.K. anymore!

Im constantly playing it on Spotify and have been continuously saying I need to see it!

balalake · 02/11/2022 19:40

Not been to see it. An aunt was one of the people on one of the 38 planes that were diverted. Died a few years ago, never got to meet the people she was travelling to see. Would be too distressing for me to see as I miss my aunt a lot.
