How do people do it?

I've just got back from Harvester.

I had a main, 1 bowl at the salad bar and a drink. As did my daughter.

We both rolled out of there stuffed.

How do people do 2, or even 3, courses at a Harvester? 🤷

Same as anything. Practice.

XenoBitch · 21/10/2022 20:27

Years ago, Harvester portions used to be massive. They have shrunk a lot over the years.

Saying that, I went a couple of weeks ago and also only managed one bowl of salad, one cup of tea, and the main meal. I felt sick thinking about food after that.

RunningFromInsanity · 21/10/2022 20:28

Easy.
2 bowls of salad, half rack of ribs main and chocolate sundae for dessert.
Leave feeling sick and happy

vodkaredbullgirl · 21/10/2022 20:29

Easily lol

Skinnermarink · 21/10/2022 20:31

Oh come on now.

Rutland2022 · 21/10/2022 20:33

Oh good a competitive under eating thread.

I can eat 3 full courses absolutely anywhere, including the US. My appetite knows no bounds, unless it’s fruit. You can keep that.

Oh come on now.

Oh come on now, what? I struggled to drive home, I was in so much pain.

Was it a Mumsnet sized massive salad?

MeridasMum · 21/10/2022 20:34

This OP reminds me of something my DM would say. She's far superior to (and much more dainty and ladylike than) the likes of me because she eats so much less! She loves to body-shame me too. It's incredibly damaging.

People are different, have different bodies and different appetites. Who knew?!

RunningFromInsanity · 21/10/2022 20:34

Stick a couple of bread rolls on the salad bowl too

MegGriffinshat · 21/10/2022 20:34

Please God, not another competitive under eating thread.

Waiting for someone to say “I Just get one bowl and take enough home for a week of lunches.”

We can only afford to eat out once a year. It’s usually harvester on a deal. I eat everything I can. I am sure people would judge without realising it’s a very rare treat for my family.

The bowl was full. Dressing to the nines. The salad bar has seriously gone downhill over the years 😞

I had a plate with 2 dollops of salad dressing on and 3 squirts of 3 different sauces to dip my chips and chicken in. Probably helped the full feeling along.

Btw, don't waste your time with their kicking garlic sauce. It just tastes of fat with a mild hint of garlic 🤮

In pain?! Why? You went out for dinner and left in pain? Have you seen a medical professional to check for digestive issues?

achangeisafoot · 21/10/2022 20:43

Are you just posting to say you had a lot to eat and it was filling or do you genuinely not realised that other people might have bigger appetites than you?

I'm pretty sure I could eat an oak tree covered in cheese and bacon and still not be in physical pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

Doesn't happen anywhere else. It's a experience unique to Harvester.

You're not a disgusting glutton like everyone else op. Well done you!!

vodkaredbullgirl · 21/10/2022 21:00

Don't go to Harvester if you can't hack it.

warofthemonstertrucks · 21/10/2022 21:10

That would be as nothing to me. I never feel full. I've got great will power and I can stop myself eating like Henry the eighth at a feast at every meal, or else I would be the size of a house. What you had at Harvester there wouldn't really touch the sides tbh.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/10/2022 21:12

I guess it depends what you ordered and picked from the salad bar, a bowl of lettuce, carrot and onion is going to be less filling than a bowl of pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw with raisins, mayo and croutons! And what you have already eaten in the day. And your build. And all those claiming competitive under eating, why? Surely it's just individual differences.

That said I've often thought that Harvester Restaurants must have a lower number of customers ordering starters because many would see the salad as the starter.

RebeccaRose92 · 21/10/2022 21:13

Most likely to do with carbs. Someone having tomato soup for starter won't be the same as someone eating mozzarella sticks

If you are in so much pain from eating a salad and a main meal I would probably see a doctor.
