How do people do it?

Bathtubbathing · 21/10/2022 20:25

I've just got back from Harvester.

I had a main, 1 bowl at the salad bar and a drink. As did my daughter.

We both rolled out of there stuffed.

How do people do 2, or even 3, courses at a Harvester? 🤷

Ha, I thought Harvester restaurants were a 90s thing.

ouch321 · 22/10/2022 00:43

You can really tell it's half term underway with so many silly threads started this evening.

PremsDhaba · 21/10/2022 23:36

Because I'm a big, greedy fat cow with no restraint, just shovelling food into my mouth out of a trough. Is that what you want to hear?

You could have embellished further for top marks but yes, I think you met the brief. How about casually dropping in, “and I have a specially-adapted mini digger to put pie into my face”? It’s all in the details.

AnApparitionQuipped · 22/10/2022 00:51

Just looked at the menu - there are some amazing puddings! OP, I would sack off the salad next time, and have a pudding instead. Sadly there isn't a Harvester near me. They used to have the 'make it a night to remember' advert in the 1990s. Nostalgia. Sigh.

DogsAkimbo · 22/10/2022 01:44

If I was your daughter I’d probably have sneaked out later for a KFC 😆

thaegumathteth · 22/10/2022 01:47

I don't know, I mean tbh OP how could you eat as much? I usually go and have a sniff of the salad bar and the bubbles from a Diet Coke and I have to be carried home I'm so full.

DancingInHisShirt · 22/10/2022 01:55

Are you teeny tiny OP?

Bathtubbathing · 22/10/2022 07:55

Sheesh, some of you are a pleasant bunch, aren't you? Do you have nothing better to do than be horrible to other people? Take a look at yourselves, seriously. Some of you are vile and need to get a grip on life rather than live it behind a keyboard.

It was a genuine question. We love Harvester food but can't ever face pud. It never feels like too much until it settles post eating, and then it's the overfull pain. We can happily trough our faces at home/other places. Just Harvester seems to have a different effect.

Thank you to those with polite responses.

I have an eating disorder and boing between stuffing myself and starving myself. I am currently feeling suicidal about this but finally receiving help and support after 32 years.
HTH OP.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 22/10/2022 08:17

But... what did you want people to say?! What genuine answer is there apart from 'some people can eat more than others?'

You must be able to see that there is an intimation there... that's why people have reacted. Obviously.

Sorebackandibs · 22/10/2022 08:17

I can still happily eat a starter, main course, second main course, dessert and a bottle of wine in one sitting. But my body will punish me for it afterwards! In my 20s I could eat all that and then skip off to a nightclub in my skintight dress to dance the night away.

Maireas · 22/10/2022 08:19

Bathtubbathing · 21/10/2022 20:33

Oh come on now, what? I struggled to drive home, I was in so much pain.

If you're in pain after eating what I assume to be a normal meal, you should get yourself checked out.

Maireas · 22/10/2022 08:20

achangeisafoot · 21/10/2022 20:43

Are you just posting to say you had a lot to eat and it was filling or do you genuinely not realised that other people might have bigger appetites than you?

I'm pretty sure I could eat an oak tree covered in cheese and bacon and still not be in physical pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

😂😂😂

....and turn up for work at 8am the next day. Sigh. Those were the days...

FlounderingFruitcake · 22/10/2022 08:33

I’ve never been to a harvester but if you were seriously in so much pain that you struggled to drive after a main course and salad then you should see a doctor.

VladmirsPoutine · 22/10/2022 08:34

I love these threads Grin How could you possibly have eaten a standard meal?! Everyone I know is stuffed after two carrots and a piece of broccoli never mind the dressing!

LuciferRising · 22/10/2022 08:38

How on earth is it under eating?

CaronPoivre · 22/10/2022 08:49

Unless things have changed dramatically, salad bar is a misnomer. Spittle laden, Pooh-fingered child mauled, lumps of dried bread, grim two day old pasta and a tin of cold sweetcorn.
indeed, how can anyone eat one bowl, let alone two.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 22/10/2022 08:49

How on earth does anyone even notice what everyone else is eating? I suggest a nice bottle of wine will help you eat less and make you more chilled about what others are ordering at their own tables.

TheOrigRights · 22/10/2022 08:54

To answer your
question - people eat 2 or 3 courses because they have different appetites.
But you must know this, so is if that you're wondering why or how people have different appetites?

I personally think it's quite unpleasant that you were so full you were in pain. Why didn't you stop when you were full?

Maybe choose somewhere else to eat then. Going out for dinner should be enjoyable.

How on earth is it under eating?

If you have salad starter and normal main course and you are stuffed to a point of being in pain so go out with "omg how do people eat standard amount of food or more, I am in physical pain after normal dinner" it is undereating thread.

KatherineJaneway · 22/10/2022 10:54

How do people do 2, or even 3, courses at a Harvester? 🤷

Easily. Maybe they haven't eaten much that day, maybe they have big appetites, maybe they went to the gym before coming out etc.

OldReliable · 22/10/2022 11:05

Id skip the salad which numerous people have had their fingers in, coughed over, etc and have a main and a dessert. Probably something like a burger, or chicken breast thing. Not a mixed grill or whole rack of ribs. And I'm very fat and greedy.
