How do people do it?

Bathtubbathing · 21/10/2022 20:25

I've just got back from Harvester.

I had a main, 1 bowl at the salad bar and a drink. As did my daughter.

We both rolled out of there stuffed.

How do people do 2, or even 3, courses at a Harvester? 🤷

Agree salad bar has gone downhill, if I felt I'll after leaving a restaurant I'd never return. Have you tried Toby Carvery OP?

LadyVictoriaSponge · 21/10/2022 22:46

I would see a doctor if you are in pain from eating a salad.

Dalaidramailama · 21/10/2022 22:47

Well done you.

Slow claps…. 👏 👏 👏 🥗.

PeloFondo · 21/10/2022 22:48

I think everyone varies and it's the type of food as well
I couldn't eat say a full portion of curry and rice from a takeaway. But I can eat a large pizza Confused
Rice fills me up really quickly, so I struggle with Indian/chinese takeaway
Plus what else you've eaten and drink that day and exercise etc etc

Penguinsaregreat · 21/10/2022 22:55

I haven’t set foot in a Harvester in years. Are they any good?

luckyRhino · 21/10/2022 22:57

I can always make room for a desert.

I am familiar with the pain you are describing though.

EvAlSa · 21/10/2022 22:59

What is Harvester? 😐

BitOutOfPractice · 21/10/2022 22:59

MN, the home of puritanical eating and drinking.

“Oh no, half a fish finger is far too much for little me. I’m happy sucking the wish bone from last Sunday’s roast instead. And only fill that glass half full of tepid tap water, a whole glass is just too much for my constitution.”

come on op.

cravattwat · 21/10/2022 23:02

What possesses someone to even think of starting a thread about how much fucking chicken they can eat? Yawn.

I can't believe you ate so much @Bathtubbathing !

I eat half a slice of garlic bread, and half a tomato and I'm full to the brim. Can't eat for a week.

Not really.

Iammatrix · 21/10/2022 23:26

OMG, I feel for you.

We had M&S Fish and Chips for 2 with mussy peas and a couple of
glasses of wine at home, It's quite light but feel stuffed.

It was really nice.

It's Friday night. I will calorie count tomorrow. Promise to myself!

PremsDhaba · 21/10/2022 23:36

Because I'm a big, greedy fat cow with no restraint, just shovelling food into my mouth out of a trough. Is that what you want to hear?

ClaudineClare · 21/10/2022 23:43

A salad and a main is two courses, fatty dressings/dips are as calorific as a dessert so not surprised you are full. Next time have one or the other and you won't be in pain driving home. Better yet, eat somewhere that serves decent food.

CandyLeBonBon · 21/10/2022 23:46

How do people do what? Eat food when they're hungry? Quite easily. If you can't manage your enormous salad maybe you should pay it forward so someone else can?

80sMum · 21/10/2022 23:48

Bathtubbathing · 21/10/2022 20:33

Oh come on now, what? I struggled to drive home, I was in so much pain.

Gosh, why didn't you just stop eating once you'd had enough, OP? Eating to excess, to the point where it causes you pain, seems a bit reckless.

Maybe next time just have a starter? I sometimes do that, have a starter and a side.

gogohmm · 21/10/2022 23:51

How has it gone downhill? I haven't been for years

BamBamBilla · 21/10/2022 23:52

Harvester still exists? I haven't seen one in at least a decade and it's not as if I don't go places.

PetuniaPumpernickle · 21/10/2022 23:53

Oh dear nevermind, you'll feel better once you've had a dump
With that HUGE amount of food I hope you've got a poo knife handy...

It's always been downhill hasn't it?

MegGriffinshat · 21/10/2022 23:55

warofthemonstertrucks · 21/10/2022 21:10

That would be as nothing to me. I never feel full. I've got great will power and I can stop myself eating like Henry the eighth at a feast at every meal, or else I would be the size of a house. What you had at Harvester there wouldn't really touch the sides tbh.

i am your long lost twin.

ClaudineClare · 21/10/2022 23:57

All those microbes hanging out at the salad bar that were subsequently consumed by you probably constituted another course OP.

I assume that you shared it amongst 500 close friends who were also equally stuffed.

80sMum · 22/10/2022 00:00

I've never been to a Harvester, so just looked it up and saw the menu. It looks very similar to Hungry Horse, with which I am familiar.

Most of the meals look very heavy going, to me, just like the Hungry Horse, e.g. burgers served in buns, with chips (double carbs); a vegetarian meal that includes rice and chips (double carbs again), a chicken burger that has not one but two chicken breasts in it..

If I had to eat there, I think I would choose one of the "balanced bowls", probably the grilled haloumi or the grilled salmon.

MarieKlepto · 22/10/2022 00:27

I'd be overly stuffed after that too but unfortunately, that's just my digestive system and I'm pretty jealous of the camp that can go out to dinner and easily do three courses and the cheese board. Much more fun.
