Central London restaurant that’s not super expensive

Central London restaurant . On a Saturday night. Ideally fish and steak. Looked at loch fine but didn’t realise it had shut. Hawksmoor looks mega expensive as it’ll be for 5….and DH paying.

Brasserie Zedel

ghislaine · 01/10/2022 14:11

Rowley’s?

BadGranny · 01/10/2022 14:15

Côte Brasserie, London Bridge?

ThreeB · 01/10/2022 14:17

If you liked the look of Hawksmoor, take a look at Blacklock https://theblacklock.com/restaurants/blacklock-soho/?utmsource=SOHOOGMB&utmmedium=GMB&utmmcampaign=SOHORES&utmmid=SOHOGMB

I would second Zédel. It’s a great room and the food is consistent.

Third Zedel. Great food, fabulous surroundings. Super reasonable but feels fancy.

Agreed.
Love that place!

Blacklock has always been great when I’ve been. There’s something to be said for restaurants that just do one thing well.

BorgQueen · 01/10/2022 15:55

Just to jump on to a thread with people who know London.

Would it be bonkers to attempt the Museum of London during the Lord Mayor’s show? We are there Fri-Mon for the remembrance parade and I planned for us to do the museum on Saturday the 12th, which I’ve just found out is the LM show 🙄
We are staying at The Mad hatter near Blackfriars bridge, which is closed that day, we can walk across millenium bridge but presumably it will be heaving around St Pauls?

Is it a really bad idea?
We could go on the Friday I suppose but don’t get in to Euston till 11.50, add on another hour to get to the hotel etc. and not sure if it’s worth it?

BarrelOfOtters · 01/10/2022 16:46

zedel is fully booked in the evening it’s next Saturday. Everywhere is booked….

Le Garrick near Covent Garden

ReachedTheEndofCake · 01/10/2022 16:51

Tattons, also Covent Garden

canonlyhopexo · 01/10/2022 16:56

Black and Blue! Few of them in central. Nice on in borough market.

Le Garrick near Covent Garden

  • 1 for Le Garrick.

I also like Joe Allen in Covent Garden which I think of as reasonably priced.

It really depends what you mean by 'mega expensive'. it's all relative!

BarrelOfOtters · 01/10/2022 17:03

Don’t want to pay £55 for steak and chips….

but realise may end up paying £35…or £40.

Savoire faire 42 new Oxford street

Devo1818 · 01/10/2022 17:07

Savoir Faire just past centre point.

Whatthetrolley · 01/10/2022 17:09

We had a bad experience with Tuttons 2 weeks ago. Missing food, issues with drinks and over charging and that was a Sunday!

CrushedPistachios · 01/10/2022 17:10

Flat iron?

bruffin · 01/10/2022 17:11

Did Blacklock for Sunday lunch and would definitely recommend but you need to book in advance

QueSyrahSyrah · 01/10/2022 17:12
