Anyone else felt awful after the Moderna Spikevax booser

Myotherdogsaballboy · 30/09/2022 16:01

The other jabs I had were the Pfizer ones. I had a bit of a raised temp the same night and was a bit achey but it went off by next day.

yesterday mid afternoon I had the Moderna and feel dreadful. My arm is so stiff and sore I can hardly use it. Apart from when I’ve had cocodamol I’m freezing cold and shivering and my legs, arms and hips ache. My head aches and I feel dizzy. The weirdest thing is the tips of both thumbs going numb. I’m retired so have been lucky enough to be able to stay in bed today. Has anyone else felt worse after this new Moderna ? I’m glad I’ve had it done but flipping heck.

I haven’t t had mine yet. It’s booked for next week.

I hope you get some answers, though, and feel better soon. It sounds grim. 💐

Bloodybridget · 30/09/2022 16:06

I felt terrible on Wednesday morning after having it Tuesday lunchtime. It was my 6th Covid jab and I'd never had a bad reaction before. I slept a lot and didn't eat much, but yesterday I was better, and today back to normal I think (I'm very anaemic atm so not feeling great at any time).
I don't regret having it tho. I've never had Covid.

Bloodybridget · 30/09/2022 16:07

My DP had it at the same time and only had the predictable sore arm.

bloodybridget I’m glad you’re over the worst of it. I’ve not felt anything like this after the others. I’m really glad to have had it too . I had covid in March and at no stage felt as bad as I did in the night and today.

Dps both had this injection. Dm was pretty much as you describe for 24 hours (no numb thumbs but everything else). Df had nothing not even a sore arm just totally normal.
I've booked mine in 2 weeks and not looking forward to it as I felt prettty rough after the last 2 Pfizers and had the shivering, dizziness etc.

bluestarthread · 30/09/2022 16:19

i had it yesterday. Really sore arm and have felt achey and tired all day. Managed to work though but much more reaction than any of the others jabs.
Still not had Covid and in a household of vulnerables so happy to do my bit to keep it that way.

Myotherdogsaballboy · 30/09/2022 16:20

I hope you are ok after yours vanillaradio. The numb thumb tips was the bizarrest thing. It seems to have stopped now

The new bivalent one?

Just a sore arm (which I get with just about every jab I've ever had)

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/09/2022 16:21

We had ours last Saturday and felt fine until midnight, then was necking paracetamol. On Sunday I stayed in bed, felt shivery, hot and cold and achy. All in all, it took about four days to get over and feel normal again.

Still glad to have had it, but probably best to have as quiet a time as possible for a couple of days afterwards.

Myotherdogsaballboy · 30/09/2022 16:24

Bluevelvetsofa. Four days to feel back to normal is a lot. I was ok till midnight too and then started feeling rough. nether yes it was the new one. It said spikevax on the info sheet and it’s Moderna. I’m glad you were ok. I wasn t expecting to feel this rotten.

Yes with bells on!

Just like you, OP. Arm was really sore for 3 days and started immediately after having the jab. Then the day after I felt as if I had flu.☹️
Good news is I was absolutely fine by day 4.

Beamur · 30/09/2022 16:36

I felt a bit grotty for 24 hours and arm was a bit sore for maybe 3 days.

hamstersarse · 30/09/2022 16:38

That seems a rather mad reasoning process happening there.

I had the Pfizer booster yesterday. Feel very tired indeed today. Arm a bit sore. Achey. Not the end of the world. With case numbers rising, I'm glad to have this extra protection. Makes me feel a lot more confident about travelling to visit my very elderly parents, who are already boosted and got their flu jabs at the same time. I have that to come.

Briandouglas · 30/09/2022 16:46

Yes I had Pfizer for my first ones and then the Moderna spike vax for the booster. Felt fine for the first few hours (had jab at 9am) by evening felt like shit (headache, flu-like etc.) kept waking up in the night feeling like it. Then next morning woke up and felt horrendous, fainted in the shower…. Took some paracetamol and ate breakfast then about 1-2 later headache faded and was right as rain again by midday (aside from slightly sore arm)

ProseccoStorm · 30/09/2022 16:48

Yes, passed out after the Moderna. Felt truly dreadful

Tornado70 · 30/09/2022 16:53

Yes, I was not good after the bi-valant Moderna.
it was like combined flu and migraine. Nausea, vomiting, pounding head, neck pain, muscles and joint pain, dizziness.
it started 8 hours after vaccination and lasted 36 hours, although the headache was 3 days.
I always have some solicited illness but nothing as bad as this before.
I previously had x3 Pfizer.

Was just thinking the same 😂

Crunchymum · 30/09/2022 17:01

Moderna made me feel so awful and (I believe) caused a relapse of my autoimmune condition which lasted months.

I want to insist on Pfizer when I have my booster. I'd be really unhappy to have another Moderna.

My goodness, how awful.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 30/09/2022 17:31

Yes, I had terrible side effects with it. Was fine after Astra Zeneca and Pfizer.

Nandocushion · 30/09/2022 17:33

All 4 of my shots have been Moderna. No side effects at all for first 2, a bit achy after 3, then yesterday felt fluey after #4. It was the one that was slightly different for Omicron I think so maybe that was it.

DreadingWinter · 30/09/2022 17:35

I've had two Astra Zeneca, one Pfizer and now one Moderna. No difference except my arm was more painful this time, but she jabbed me so hard that I bruised.

It's probably another bug causing your symptoms. There's a good, old fashioned flu bug doing the rounds. I've had it. It's awful.
