Anyone else felt awful after the Moderna Spikevax booser

Myotherdogsaballboy · 30/09/2022 16:01

The other jabs I had were the Pfizer ones. I had a bit of a raised temp the same night and was a bit achey but it went off by next day.

yesterday mid afternoon I had the Moderna and feel dreadful. My arm is so stiff and sore I can hardly use it. Apart from when I’ve had cocodamol I’m freezing cold and shivering and my legs, arms and hips ache. My head aches and I feel dizzy. The weirdest thing is the tips of both thumbs going numb. I’m retired so have been lucky enough to be able to stay in bed today. Has anyone else felt worse after this new Moderna ? I’m glad I’ve had it done but flipping heck.

Felt rotten 8hrs after having Moderna - flu like symptoms etc. But it passed after another 12hrs and I was fine the next day. Pfizer knocked me out for 2 days both times. DH had Moderna and flu jab at the same time and was fine bar a sore arm.

So some people are clearly fine but if you need to work on Monday, I'd have it Friday or as early Saturday as possible.

Feel really rough today can hardly move my arm and in pain all down that side with bad head.

Londontown12 · 30/09/2022 17:56

Yes me I had it last Friday lunchtime!! 6th jab ! By 10pm aching hot cold pounding headache I was in bed all weekend! Also had flu shot same day ! Completely ok Monday morning thou !! Don’t even feel that rough when I had covid !
I an immune suppressed thou so I’d happily do it again

I had the Moderna bi whatever it is (my first booster) and woke up the next day nauseous, shivering and so tired I pretty much slept the entire day. Never had a reaction of any significance to any vaccination or flu jab before. Lasted 24 hours.

Lysianthus · 30/09/2022 17:59

I've just had flu jab and Pfizer booster. The nurse said that both Moderna and Pfizer have the omnicron strain in them. So different formulations compared with the earlier 3. I guess that might explain the differing reactions. I'm going to take preventative paracetamol !

DecentPleasant · 30/09/2022 18:01

Zero issues here. Slightly sore arm for the afternoon. Everything else fine. Moderna Bivalent. My second Moderna.

BasilParsley · 30/09/2022 18:02

3 x Pfizer and then Moderna Spikevax on Weds. Was a bit trepidatious because of things I had read and the leaflet itself about side effects. In the end it was fine. Sore arm that kept me awake that night. Slightly out of sorts yesterday but nothing that required drugs or a time off work. Abs fine today…

JoBrodie · 30/09/2022 20:13

Not awful, but not well. First 24 hours or so were fine after my morning Moderna jab then after that my resting pulse and temperature rose and arm felt a bit sore and warm. Felt fine the following day but same thing happened the following evening, though not as pronounced. I took a couple of paracetamol and that was pretty much it.

I didn't really feel very ill but felt a bit space-y, like when you put 'mousetrails' on a Windows mouse cursor ;)

Same thing happened with Pfizer last year.

catchthedog · 30/09/2022 20:15

yes utterly horrendous but thankfully it was a 24 hour thing. totally fine after that.

TrashPandas · 30/09/2022 20:17

I had a swollen arm and felt rough for a day, but it was MUCH better than having Omicron.

Chatterboxy · 30/09/2022 23:08

I’m mid 60’s, & had the Moderna last Thursday, had a rough nights sleep, woke up Friday feeling really bloody awful, ached from head to toe, very flu like, spent the day on the sofa with paracetamol!

msbevvy · 30/09/2022 23:14

Had the Moderna one yesterday lunchtime and no ill effects at all so far, not even a sore arm.

mummabubs · 30/09/2022 23:17

Similar to you OP, I've had pfizer up til now and apart from the inevitable sore arm I've been fine each time. This one, frick me. I was hot and cold, ached everywhere, nauseous to the point that I vomited. Only lasted 24 hours and I'm still glad I had it as I work with clinically vulnerable patients but it was a bit grueling! 🤦🏻‍♀️

AnyFucker · 30/09/2022 23:18

I had the Moderna 4th shot a couple of days ago

I felt pretty much the same as the last 3 (all Pfizer) which is off colour for 24 hours then right as rain

ginandbearit · 30/09/2022 23:23

Tup ..ok for 12 hours then wiped out with flu like symptoms for 24 ..

Cryingbutstilltrying · 30/09/2022 23:37

Me and both my parents have had the spikevax. Previously had AZ and Pfizer. No problems at all for any of us, with any of the jabs.
Judging by the length of the queue, people were keen to get it done!

TimandGinger · 30/09/2022 23:42

Failarmy · 30/09/2022 16:55

Was just thinking the same 😂

I know. 6 jabs. 😳😳 WTF.
passing out, feeling really ill for four days. Why are people doing this to themselves?!

PeloFondo · 30/09/2022 23:43

I had flu jab and the new moderna
V sore arms and felt sick all night but that was it
My dad had nothing, not even a sore arm Confused

JasonWaterfalls · 30/09/2022 23:44

Meh, 24 hrs of feeling a bit achey here - nothing special!

PeloFondo · 30/09/2022 23:46

@TimandGinger because I really, really don't want covid. I've had 5 vaccines
It's everyone's individual choice and my health issues mean for me it was important to have them

SparklingLime · 30/09/2022 23:53

hamstersarse · 30/09/2022 16:38

I’m really glad to have had it too . I had covid in March and at no stage felt as bad as I did in the night and today.

That seems a rather mad reasoning process happening there.

Really? This is pretty conclusive.

Had Moderna in my lunch hour Tuesday. Been fine but had some nausea. That could be down to my cooking

ChecoPerez · 01/10/2022 00:02

I had the Pfizer one earlier with my flu jag.... I feel awful.

Earlier I had my fleecy jammies and hot water bottle, now I'm lying in my undies melting away, my arms are so achy, I feel like I've done 204883 squats, but my temp is a nice 36.4!

AAT65 · 01/10/2022 00:13

Had AZ, AZ, Pfizer then 3 Moderna. No side effects until this bivalent Moderna given in same arm as flu vaccine last Thursday. Large bruise (never happened before) and felt like I had been hit by a truck for 24 hours. Was blaming the combination of two vaccines at same time.

ZandathePanda · 01/10/2022 00:26

I had a sore arm like the previous Pfizer’s. No other symptoms except sleeping like a log all week. Which is a bonus.
