Strictly on the 31st October?

a day before?

a week before?

My toddler is very excited about Halloween this year, it’s the first year where she remembers the last, so she knows what’s going to be going on - and we’ve moved from a village that’s mostly elders that didn’t participate in Halloween to a village that mostly family’s so I feel like it’s going to be a good year!😄

but when do we put the pumpkins out ect?!

You've definitely reached the celebration limit. Sad You need to drop some to remain compliant.

Never! I would rather take the consequences of noncompliance 😂😂😂

Imagine forgetting that Paganism is a huge part of UK history and culture. Halloween Shock

October is my absolute favourite time of year, or Samhain as we call it. My black cat was born on Halloween a year ago so its her birthday too.

My autumn decor is up just now.
Will add some pumpkins etc the week of Halloween.

We just do some window decorations. Usually the kids make them. And some pumpkins outside.

BeautifulWar · 20/09/2022 11:28

I'm falling to see where having some fun on Halloween translates into not teaching kids about Guy Faukes? Are the two mutually exclusive?

I can only speak for myself, but I indulge my child in all this Americanised shite because it's fun. I don't think it really needs any more justification than that!

Well put our decorations up sometime over half term, whenever my DD wants to. Lots of the houses in our area put them up around same time - the kids all love it.

Real pumpkins are bought and carved as close to Halloween as possible.

Oldraver · 20/09/2022 12:30

I don't really do Halloween though I bought a coat earlier this year that I realised had pumpkins on

I wore it for the first time today

I think we’ll settle for the week before 🤭

some great idea here; definitely going to take the kids to pick some things to use as decor, plenty of pine cones!

throughout my childhood we would always stop by one of the older ladies on our street where she would gives the kids their sweets, the adults got a polystyrene cup of mulled wine to take around with them to keep their hands warm, and always either pumpkin soup in a polystyrene cup or pumpkin pie. It really did make it special! I’d love to do that for others in our village but I feel like times 😂

DD wants to be a ghost, but last week it was a vampire.. then a pumpkin. I have a feeling she going to change her mind again.. after we’ve brought her costume 😂 this is the reason I had children though, to keep the magic alive on special occasions 😍

We also go to the church yard on Halloween and clean up the gravestones of my grandparents/older family. It’s something that my dads (French) family do. So we do it too. We give the headstones a scrub and a clean. Tidy the area around them. Lay new flowers.

for Me it’s about remembering.

I don’t like trick or treating. But have no issues going to parties. I love a dress up.

Suzi888 · 20/09/2022 13:13

Never used to bother, but we start the weekend before now as the decs have slowly grown. I taken them down 1st Nov.
We will do some halloweeny activities on the weekends- parties, disco’s.

The weather has generally changed and DD loves it.

"My kids know about guy Fawkes and we decorate for Halloween... crazy!"

So advanced these days aren't they 😂

DifficultBloodyWoman · 20/09/2022 13:38

1st October.

And everything comes down on 1st November.

I’m sure the song ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ was meant for Halloween and not for Christmas. It is a fun, kid friendly holiday with little in the way of expectations and obligations from and to extended family.

Check out the Halloween food on Pinterest! So much more fun than roast turkey, Christmas cake and mince pies!

PaperTyger · 20/09/2022 13:38

Primative Halloween eg gentle
Cats, bat's, witches broom's, pumpkins... love it.. usually go up around half term for two weeks. Owl's.... spiders
.. absolute hate slasher gore.

Meant to upload these yesterday, I have my ‘nicer’ Halloween decorations up now but my tacky ones go up in the October holidays 😅😅

We began putting ours up about 10 days ago though some stay up all year. We will be making more though probably right up until after Samhain because my DC love this time of year (almost as much as I do Blush)
