I struggle to sleep , my mind races .

googling for ideas, I came upon ASMR .

Not ASMR but I would highly recommend stillness meditation to help with what you’re describing. Don’t be put off by the word “meditation” - no “ohmms” or special breathing required

Gentle Whispering is amazing.

Livinginanotherworld · 17/09/2022 23:41

Yes, it works for me. Try Moonlight Cottage Asmr. Goodnight Moon. Whispers red.

Binaural Beats is amazing!

Love it. I used to just pick random yt videos I like the cranial nerve exam ones or eye tests.

fredsvoice is a fanatic channel has lots of different types of ASMR triggers

I find snails ASMR really good for calming DS down when he has had a nightmare. 🐌

vinoandbrie · 17/09/2022 23:49

I don’t know much about ASMR, but I can recommend yoga nidra. Sends me to sleep every time, and my mind races at night too, so I know how horrid it can be.

I’m not saying don’t go in for ASMR, I am saying yoga nidra is something to literally try tonight if you fancy it, and see whether it works for you,

All the best.

Yes, hardly ever seen a full video because I'm asleep in the first few minutes. I find it great if my mind just won't switch off. Sometimes I just listen to thunder & rain sounds :)

Asmr Jonie is really good. Also cosy hospital. Gibi is popular but I don't find she helps me.

MomwasCasual · 18/09/2022 00:02

Only for the last 11 years or so Grin

And that's as long as it's been available to watch on YT. I've experienced ASMR since I was about 4 (and I'm 47 now)

Yes, search them on YouTube.

Definitely try Gentle Whispering, Be Brave Be You ASMR, Water Whispers and The ASMR Couple. Watch a few videos and find your trigger, everyone is different. There's so much to explore, there'll be something you like out there. You could try SAS ASMR if you're into that kinda thing? Happy exploring.

vinoandbrie · 18/09/2022 00:09

Yoga nidra is not yoga as such, you just listen to it! You lie in your bed and listen to it and do what it says, and it sends you to sleep. Just try it, if it doesn’t work you’ve lost nothing.

Really good luck in your quest for sleep!

EthicalNonMahogany · 18/09/2022 00:12

Michael Sealey sleep hypnosis v good too.

All those people are on YouTube op, and Spotify, just search!

Me 🙋 WhispersRed is my go to. Or Nanou Philips and her makeup artist Gran.

Im quite picky though so only certain sounds. All that tapping is like fingernails on a blackboard for me

What about just listening to familiar TV shows? Playing Friends or something you've seen lots, headphones in, phone flipped screen down and just listen.
