When the lady announced the Queen has died, felt quite emotional. I think that’s the official announcement.

it was lovely to see William guide Camilla as she entered the room.

Funny seeing all the politicians standing about uncertainly behind the rope.

SpinCityBlues · 10/09/2022 10:14

I always like seeing the former Prime Ministers chatting away at these ceremonial events, all emnities aside for a while.

It was Penny Mordant MP chairing proceedings. She struggled with a couple of pronunciations which surprised me. Jacob Rees-Mogg must be kicking himself he didn't get this archaic gig.

squashyhat · 10/09/2022 10:16

I'm finding this part really interesting, finding out about all the traditions and their purpose. Good to see David Olusoga in the studio.

I thought Penny Mordaunt did a good job. That probably was very emotional to say, to be the one to make the official declaration.

Boris and Gordon are having a good natter!

MomwasCasual · 10/09/2022 10:20

It's fascinating seeing all those people rubbing shoulders in that one room.

BJ and JRM will be absolutely seething inwardly that they were so close to the big parts in this gig

SpinCityBlues · 10/09/2022 10:24

I've spotted all the living former Prime Ministers, I think.

MinglingFlamingo · 10/09/2022 10:24

This is fascinating

loobylou10 · 10/09/2022 10:25

It really is. History in the making.

Snozzlemaid · 10/09/2022 10:31

Definitely. A real moment in history.

Recycledblonde · 10/09/2022 10:31

I never knew that Prince William was left-handed. I must tell my left-handed son that he's in good company.

Recycledblonde · 10/09/2022 10:37

I never thought about the problem of seals etc being the Queens and that they need to be authorised to use them until new ones are made.
I'm finding the history fascinating.

Riverlee · 10/09/2022 10:37

I noticed Boris and Gordon having a good natter as well.

Also noticed Prince William as a left handed.

Who knew there were so many seals

Riverlee · 10/09/2022 10:37

I’m loving the tradition of it all.

Bit of a mess up with the positioning of the ink pot and pens! They needed a bigger table

loobylou10 · 10/09/2022 10:38

Yes just looked a bit awkward didn't it.

Snowdropsarelovely · 10/09/2022 10:39

Found it fascinating. Did they just say bank holiday for the funeral?

Riverlee · 10/09/2022 10:40

Was wondering what Nicola Sturgeon was thinking - the proclamation of the new king she wants to become independent from!

Yes they did.

basilmint · 10/09/2022 10:40

Fascinating. Don't like Penny Mordaunt but think she is doing a good job and sounds appropriately formal. Boris was stood rather awkwardly at the front for a moment with no-one to talk to then Gordon Brown turned round and realised everyone else was already engaged in conversation so he had to talk to Boris. They seemed to have a good old chat though!

loobylou10 · 10/09/2022 10:40

Poignant moment seeing William watching what will one day happen to him.
So hard having to do all these things when you've just lost your mum.

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 10:41

Absolutely fascinating. I think everybody is doing so well and it makes me really proud of our country after things have seemed pretty bleak recently. I expect that the funeral is going to be an incredible event.

Yes, bank holiday for the funeral but no final confirmation of date yet.

Riverlee · 10/09/2022 10:41

Yes, bank holiday.

OP posts:
Snozzlemaid · 10/09/2022 10:41

Yes, ink wells and pens where badly set up.
Yes, I think they've confirmed a bank holiday for the funeral.
I do enjoy watching all this pomp and ceremony.
