Much better than usual I think!

I wish they’d keep it like this.Wink

Oh goodness no! The radio was on overhead at work so we can’t change it. It made us all depressed.

we’ve got another week or so of it.

Loachworks · 09/09/2022 18:24

I remember them doing it after 9/11 too so I expected it

PuppyMonkey · 09/09/2022 18:49

Much prefer it to listening to Steve Wright and Sara Cox being all “wacky”.Grin

Hell no. It got switched off very early. In my small team of 5 one is fairly recently bereaved, 2 have the anniversary of the death of a parent this week. It’s just about finished us off. Another week will be challenging enough.

samthebordercollie · 09/09/2022 19:12

It was so depressing today. I hope they don't keep it up for the next 2 weeks. Music to slit your wrists to. As if there isn't enough to be depressed about at the moment!

Samcro · 09/09/2022 19:15

NooNakedJacuzziness · 09/09/2022 19:15

Goingtogoinsane · 09/09/2022 19:16

alltoomuchrightnow · 09/09/2022 19:16

Serious 'mournin'!!!
I'm dying at that! Errrrr......

MrsMop1964 · 09/09/2022 19:18

we were struggling at work today- we use music to keep energy levels up (busy kitchen) and it just wasn't helping...

SausagePourHomme · 09/09/2022 19:20

i knew something was up yesterday at about 3:30 when steve wright played 'don't worry, be happy' followed by 'from a distance'. triggered memories of those post-diana-death playlists - wistful but reassuring.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2022 19:20

Radio 4 had a nice 10 minute filler after the extended news at 6pm - David Attenborough talking about 17 year cicadas. Perfect.

Probably a bit inappropriate but that did make me laugh 😂

I noticed that on the school run!

I lasted 5 seconds of the breakfast show before lunging for a rock playlist.

The radio got switched off a lot in Spring 2020 too. Normally I have the radio on to give me a sense of time, but not if it's being outright depressing. I've had enough life-shit of my own in recent months.

Coastalcreeksider · 09/09/2022 19:29

I put up with Zoe Ball as Ken was on next but as soon as Jennifer Rush started singing, I had to switch off and just had silence for a few hours.

It was the same when Diana died.

I thought it was an improvement to his normal awful Friday show which we normally switch off

I might get flamed for this but I thought his show yesterday was pretty cringey with people messaging in to send their best wishes/get well soon messages to the Queen...via Steve Wright

Vinorosso74 · 09/09/2022 19:36

I went in a shop today and thought "ooh this music is more upbeat" then realised it was Wham "Edge of Heaven".

AmbushedByCake1 · 09/09/2022 19:39

It was the same when Prince Phillip died. Drove me up the bloody wall!

FionnulaTheCooler · 09/09/2022 19:44

I was in McDonald's earlier, they were playing a similar style of sombre music, although I did question the wisdom of adding Candle in the Wind to the playlist for this particular occasion.

HippeePrincess · 09/09/2022 19:46

It’s every fucking station, I’m pissed off we don’t get a choice in whether we want to listen to dreary shit or not. I certainly don’t!

hewouldwouldnthe · 09/09/2022 19:47

Even Heart radio, was playing sad songs all day. Definitely no head bangers

maddiemookins16mum · 09/09/2022 19:49

It was awful and depressing. I turned Zoe Ball off before 8am as could no longer cope with ‘tears in heaven’, ‘somewhere out there’ and the like (not helped by her talking in this strange voice). I settled down at my laptop with a bit of Take That and their greatest hits instead.
