I wish they’d keep it like this.Wink

I was only in the car if 10 mins and I was in tears (Dance with my father). Enforced misery. I can’t be doing with this for another 10 days.

Isaidnoalready · 09/09/2022 21:12

The station I was listening to was playing the same songs on an 8 hour loop. The tunes I heard on the way home from work were the same ones I’d heard, in the same order, on the way in! I’m on the same shift tomorrow, so time will tell whether they’ve got more than one option… 😩

MumofSpud · 09/09/2022 21:17

I must be getting old but I like all the sad songs - yesterday I was switching from my usual Radio 2 and Heart to Radio X / Radio 1 / Kiss / Capital and they all had song I liked and knew

PuppyMonkey · 09/09/2022 21:19

I love a cry at a song though. That’s why I liked all these. They put another Luther one earlier If Only For Tonight? Nothing to do with the Queen but it’s so beautiful.

Didn’t hear Jezza today. (Not sure what pp is saying about Johnny Walker.Confused

I totally understand and accept why they are doing this but the beige play list really did my nut in! Cliff Richard almost sent me over the edge followed by Celine dion!!!

Made me smile

It's the presenters' voices sounding so different to usual that really gets me... even if their usual upbeat voices and "banter" probably annoy a lot of people normally and would be inappropriate right now, it feels strange to hear all of them on all stations speaking in this quiet, subdued, almost whispery way!

🤣 yeah, it is better than the norm for certain presenters! Still makes me feel a bit weird though.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 10/09/2022 10:37

Bit when is Steve wright going to be 'seriously retirin'?
Seems like ages ago since they announced it and he's still on air.

GyozaGuiting · 10/09/2022 10:38

I was doing ok until I heard Nimrod by Elgar which set me off 😢

Fizbosshoes · 10/09/2022 11:16

Hopefully soon, @HumourReplacementTherapy
I think its this month.
Jeremy Vine hasn't been on for weeks either, not sure why? Although I've preferred most of the replacements

Absolute Country is like it, and was yesterday too. Unfortunately despite there being an absolute wealth of powerful, beautiful ‘sad’ (or simply slower, or more muted) country songs, they’re playing the same 8-10 (maybe more but not by much) songs repeatedly which is rather tedious 🙄

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 07:57

despite initial misgivings , i have got used to this and really enjoying the music

Oblomov22 · 18/09/2022 08:00

No, I don't think it should be like that. It's depressing. Or ott.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2022 08:11

they are not depressing to me any longer, just gentle, good tunes, on the whole!

PuppyMonkey · 18/09/2022 09:26

Oh yes it’s calmed down a lot and they are playing much more upbeat stuff now - fantastic having no jingles and no Serious Jockin’ and no stupid Sara Cox quizzes. Even Zoe has been all right, and I usually can’t stand her gasping gorgeous girl inanity. Grin

Haven’t listened during the mornings but… has Pop Master been cancelled…?

@PuppyMonkey popmaster has still been on!
