Where are we buying our Children's winter coats ?

DC both need winter coats.
DS is 8 and DD is 6.
We walk to school so must be warm and waterproof, able to wear a backpack over it.
We sometimes cycle or scooter to school so needs to be flexible and easy to move in.
So far I've never found one that meets all our needs! Especially as they often get muddy and after a couple of washes even with the nikwax stuff, they lose their waterproofing.

Any recommendations? 🙏🏼

As dd is older now but still does Forest school, I get her coats from outdoor stores.
They have lasted 2 years and would have been resold (if they hadn’t been lost on holiday dd!!)
This year gone for a Peter Storm one which was expensive but heavily reduced (£40 off in store) and she loves the bright colours of it. Hopefully this will last another 2 years and then be resold!!
This is just for school/ outdoor things and she has another one for ‘best/less outdoorsy things’

I agree with whoever said you need layers. DC have warm winter coats from next. But if it's raining they layer jumper fleece and decent waterproof from somewhere like North Face.
