What would you invent?

Lying in bed and turning the pillow every few seconds as it keeps getting too hot and have decided that I want to invent a pillow or pillowcase that stays cool 24/7

I'd also invent an alarm clock that physically lifts me out of bed like in cartoons 😁

What would you invent?

Something that takes a tiny amount of energy e.g. AAA battery and transforms the energy into being able to power a car or a home. Battery is rechargeable so it self charges. Self contained electricity for every home.

knackeredagain · 31/08/2022 22:29

I’d redesign the umbrella for something compact that doesn’t blow inside out in a gust of wind and can be carried along with a bag. I don’t have a prototype yet. I just know it’s a massively impractical item that needs a rethink.

dockspider · 31/08/2022 22:34

I think the pillow already exists OP, look up a chillow!

RebeccaCloud9 · 31/08/2022 22:35

A tag for children in soft play, like the ones that buzz when your food is ready. They'd wear it as an arm band and you'd make it buzz when it was time to go. It would have a little intercom/walkie talkie on it too so you could give them little message or they could respond.

underneaththeash · 31/08/2022 22:42

Ski boots which are easy to put on.
an easy way to carry surf boards to the sea
a device which sucks all your excess endometrial lining up without it having to slowly come out fir several days.

😂😂 they'd still ignore you though!!

I'd invent a tiny fingertip implant that allowed you to copy and paste between devices, so I could swipe a link on my phone and post it straight to a word document on my computer.

hattie43 · 31/08/2022 22:45

I'd invent a shower that turns into a drying machine so once washed you spin round and get dried , far better than the faff of using towels

Bestcatmum · 31/08/2022 22:45

A cubicle you step into in the morning and emerge sparkling clean with your teeth brushed and polished and hair washed and dried. Like a human carwash.

Isaidnoalready · 31/08/2022 22:47

Sleep pods go in set timer for how much sleep you want push button instant sleep

Obviously this is Sci-fi territory

LadyWithLapdog · 31/08/2022 22:48

@hattie43 a bit like those drying booths you get at Thorpe Park to dry after the splash ride.

My invention wouldn’t be earth shattering but would come in handy. A pairing device or special clip for socks so they aren’t lost off the surface of the earth in the washing machine or tumble drier.

AlphaAlpha · 31/08/2022 22:51

A decent hot alcoholic drink, to be enjoyed in the colder months obviously.
I can't abide mulled wine, or a rich Baileys hot chocolate so something along the lines of an alcoholic herbal tea perhaps.

They exist!

I'd invent a device that jams electronic devices, so it's possible to shut up selfish people playing games, TV and music on public transport.

hattie43 · 31/08/2022 22:54

@LadyWithLapdog

Oh god yes , as someone who has just sorted zillions of socks in the laundry that'd be perfect lol

SouperNoodle · 31/08/2022 22:55

I love all of these inventions!!

@Isaidnoalready I've always thought a medical pod would be amazing. You'd lie in it and it could do X-rays, surgeries and administer medication and put you on life support if needed. It would be tiny little robot tools doing all the work! Totally sci-fi but would take so much pressure off hospitals

I'd like a sleep pod that somehow floated you in air rather than lying on a bed, so you wouldn't need to toss and turn to get comfy.

Oh also, whilst on the subject of pods. Could I invent a pod that melted away fat whilst you slept?
I think it would be popular!

Goawayangryman · 31/08/2022 23:01

A personal helicopter-type flying machine. One you could just hang on to and which would take you above the traffic jams - I think inspector gadget had one. I've dreamed of this ever since I was about 5 years old.

A teleporter. No more long car, plane, or train journeys. Can you tell what I spend a lot of my time doing?!?

An automatic clean clothes and purchased shopping putter-away-er would make my life complete.

You can do this on Apple devices

wwyd2021medicine · 31/08/2022 23:19

I'd invent a pocket that could be stuck securely inside any jacket or coat.
I know it sounds ridiculous but I live in a city and I just don't want my phone in a bag that could be snatched. I will base clothes choices on my suitable jackets (easy in winter, harder in summer).
I love an inside pocket

Loveduvetdays · 31/08/2022 23:29

I was telling my daughter the other day that I would invent a time machine. So when you are tired and weary and still have lots of walking to do, you have a device like a sat nav, where you put in the location and then wham bam you are there! Even better you add in that tea needs to be made, house cleaned etc etc and the time machine transports you to wherever or whatever you want.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 31/08/2022 23:31

I'd invent a hoodie or blanket that vacuums up into a tiny pouch so when you are out for the day you can be warm when the temperature drops without lugging around bulky layers all day!

Laundry bags. Just whack them in, zip it up and throw it in the washing machine. Although I still haven't worked out what the small bag is for yet. Mines just become a peg bag for the time being

Don't you need a pen though? We have these at school and the kids keep losing the pens.

Crikeyblimey · 31/08/2022 23:36

A properly wireless world. No more bloody charge leads cluttering up my life.

central locking for houses (I have been told this exists but it still seems too faffy). I want to be able to leave the house, click a button and all windows and doors lock.

watcherintherye · 31/08/2022 23:37

I’d invent a cat flap with the technology to recognise your cat’s face, and bar its entry if any distortion were evident, such as a mouse dangling either side of their mouth! I think I’ve read that something of the sort was being worked on, but not commercially available.
