What would you invent?

Lying in bed and turning the pillow every few seconds as it keeps getting too hot and have decided that I want to invent a pillow or pillowcase that stays cool 24/7

I'd also invent an alarm clock that physically lifts me out of bed like in cartoons 😁

What would you invent?

@hattie43 a bit like those drying booths you get at Thorpe Park to dry after the splash ride.

My invention wouldn’t be earth shattering but would come in handy. A pairing device or special clip for socks so they aren’t lost off the surface of the earth in the washing machine or tumble drier.

RNIB do (or did) sell sock locks.

Alternatively, pegs?

A will I get on with these colleagues if I change jobs machine - so wish I hadn’t changed jobs!!!

Something that takes a tiny amount of energy e.g. AAA battery and transforms the energy into being able to power a car or a home. Battery is rechargeable so it self charges. Self contained electricity for every home.

Unfortunately that would require breaking some fundamental laws of physics.Grin

I’d invent a cat flap with the technology to recognise your cat’s face, and bar its entry if any distortion were evident, such as a mouse dangling either side of their mouth! I think I’ve read that something of the sort was being worked on, but not commercially available.

This exists already!

A Lego hoover something that picks up Lego or small toys etc that you can just transfer into storage.

Frizzzmonster · 01/09/2022 19:07

A 30 metre lead for my Todddler with a button on it that I could zap him when he's doing something naughty

Something that takes the energy of small children in the evenings and gives it to their parents.

LittleFiendSusan · 01/09/2022 19:44

I would make my millions inventing a self-cleaning house.

Something like a golf ball grabber?

A bullshit detector

Dancingintherain19 · 01/09/2022 20:13

A pill you can take instead of covering yourself in sun cream

Mochudubh · 01/09/2022 20:15

You can buy sock clips that keep socks together, just Google sock clips.

Failing that, if you have young enough DC you can fool convince them there is such a game as "Sock Snap".

AlecTrevelyan006 · 01/09/2022 20:56

A computer keyboard fitted with a micro fan heater (or heated keys) to keep the chill off your fingers / hands.

LadyWithLapdog · 01/09/2022 21:48

@Mochudubh those sock clips are an even better invention! Thank you. Not sure whether the plastic corners would snag other clothes. I’ve ordered some laundry bags this morning so I’ll see how I get on with them first. A bit disgusted at the thoughts of having to trawl through the basket to find the dirty socks to put them in the laundry bags. My kids are too old for sock snap :)

Brilliant! No more hiding under a duvet

Potatomashed · 01/09/2022 22:14

I would like a device which keeps my house tidy. I’m happy if this is a device I wear which reminds me to actually put said item away rather than chucking it on the side or if the item just magically teleports into its home.

I would also like a wardrobe which presents me with a stylish and weather appropriate outfit for the day so I don’t have to think. Bonus if it can add some stylish accessories for the perfect look

I'd invent a pocket that could be stuck securely inside any jacket or coat.
I know it sounds ridiculous but I live in a city and I just don't want my phone in a bag that could be snatched. I will base clothes choices on my suitable jackets (easy in winter, harder in summer).
I love an inside pocket

My son would LOVE this he had a pocket on today's tshirt spent five minutes telling a bemused shop lady all about it its the only tshirt with a pocket he has 🤣

A Lego hoover something that picks up Lego or small toys etc that you can just transfer into storage.

We have a bag you just pile it on and pull the cord

Would a spider hoover work? It's more gentle than a regular hoover

AddieLoggins2 · 02/09/2022 07:24

Reverse microwave. I spend ages cooking dinner to the right temperature and then I want to eat while it's hot but I have to wait while DC'a dinner cools.

If I could give it a quick blast in something that would cool it down to a edible temperature it would be brilliant.

A tennis watching app which would make it easier to watch matches you'd missed by:

  • Having a spoiler free mode, where it wouldn't show you any upcoming matches (so you wouldn't see who'd gone through because it had their name in an upcoming match), but also didn't show the length of the match, so you couldn't tell by the time left on the program which player was going to win.
  • Having an "automatically fast foward through the 90 second changeovers unless there's aggro" mode to help you get though it faster
  • Having in alarm fuction where you could choose at match which was on overnight, set a time by which you had to be finished watching the match (ie to leave for work) and then it would wake you up with enough time to watch the match before then (since you won't know before you go to sleep how long the match is going to last).

Can you tell I'm trying to watch the US Open and also went back to work yesterday so could really do with some sleep?!

eosmum · 02/09/2022 10:09

Google a Lego Brick Vac. Looks good.

loopylindi · 03/09/2022 15:32

@Mumdiva99 This product was available way back in time. I had one, but unfortunately it can no longer be attached to the line. I'm sure they would sell well with the increase in fuel costs.
