Does anyone remember this?

I’ve got a really vivid memory of walkers salt and vinegar crisps being blue then changing to green. I can remember the shop I was at when I noticed the change. I’ve listened to a great podcast about this, and apparently it didn’t happen, but I am curious does anyone else remember this?!?!

Don't remember that. But could you be thinking about Golden Wonder? Green was cheese and onion, and blue was salt and vinegar.

ShirleyPhallus · 31/08/2022 14:14

Mandela effect

Oh my god op I hope you’re right, I hate when people say something didn’t happen that you’re sure about!!!!

unicormb · 31/08/2022 14:15

Yes, this happened and my little autistic brain exploded

Willowthewispy · 31/08/2022 14:16

I cant remember the make but one crisps did change from blue to green. All these years later the colour swap still annoys me 😂

Becknutmeg · 31/08/2022 14:17

Yes the podcast said about the Mandela effect. It was weird too as Gary linekar also said it happened but there is no evidence of it anywhere 😂😂😂

@JoanThursday i don’t think so but I know what you mean!

@stayathomer its so annoying 🤣

It's not an urban myth, it definitely happened

Does anyone remember this?
KnowtheBand · 31/08/2022 14:18

I remember all salt n vinegar were blue, except Walkers, which was a nasty trick.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2022 14:19

This never happened. Walkers have confirmed it never happened.

What did happen is that Golden Wonder were green for cheese and onion and blue for salt and vinegar then Walkers became bigger and they were the other way round.

Becknutmeg · 31/08/2022 14:19

omg @unicormb its an actual picture 😁😁😁I’m not going mad

@SoupDragon i know they’ve denied it and I’m convinced it’s a conspiracy 😂 a conspiracy with 0 purpose 🤣

it is an urban myth.

I think Wallers themselves know the right answer.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2022 14:23

Walkers, not Wallers. Obviously.

I believe it's a photo from one of those "back in time" TV programmes though and they got it wrong. I remember a thread on it at the time.

InsertPunHere · 31/08/2022 14:24

Urban myth, you're conflating Golden Wonder and Walkers.

Fake picture. Every two years or so a poster comes on and claims Walkers s&v were blue and cheese and onion were green. Yet despite the evidence to the contrary they still persist.

Boring.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2022 14:29

If you look at the green packet on that photo, it lacks the blue stripe on the white stripe. it's not a real packet.

BarbaraofSeville · 31/08/2022 14:30

I think the answer is that in certain parts of the country the brand that was dominant in shops changed from Not Walkers to Walkers and that's what we remember.

I thought I remembered it happening some time around 1980, but also accept a brand switch as an explanation as I was primary age at that time and wouldn't have been aware of the difference between Golden Wonder, Smiths, Walkers etc.

SoupDragon · 31/08/2022 14:30

Becknutmeg · 31/08/2022 14:33

@BarbaraofSeville thats an idea. Though I remember it in the 90s so it could be that!

DH and I got on about this very thing the other day. It definitely happened. We both remember it and grew up in very different parts of GB

IcedOatLatte · 31/08/2022 14:35

That"s a very well known urban myth, in fact I saw a post from Walkers crisps just the other day telling people that it's totally untrue

It's been circulating for years, I think it pops up every now and people perpetuate the myth and it can never die

But it didn't happen, unless you're saying that Walkers are spinning some easily disproved lie on the world 😂
