South London, not central London.

Standard pub. Saturday night.

One medium white wine, one pint of beer
Packet of nuts and olives.

Well the wine could be anything. 5 quid the beer, 8 the wine, 3-4 quid the snacks. So 16-17 quid.

be thankful you don’t live where I do and get those kinds of prices but have to pay bloody services on top.

More than £5 for beer. It can be £8 in many pubs near here!

Metabigot · 29/08/2022 19:29

Pub was pretty empty on a Saturday night and I think I know why..

Those prices are what we charge at the pub I work in. Local community pub in Scotland far from city centre. London would be way more.

Depends on the wine of course. But of an ordinary London pub, £18 or £19.

That order without the olives is ours in central London pubs weekly or fortnightly, so if you paid substantially more, that's down to that particular pub or wine, and not standard London prices.

Metabigot · 29/08/2022 19:30

Beer was 7, wine 12. Nuts 2 and olives 5.

How will any of those pubs stay in business? Seems crazy money

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2022 19:30

What kind of pub?

We were in London a few weeks ago and didn't pay anywhere near that much. Were the olives hand picked by virgins in the dew of Eden?

liveforsummer · 29/08/2022 19:31

Sounds about right - 9/10 for wine. Wine is b expensive to drink out. 7 odd for pint and olives and nuts are pricey snacks anywhere you go
