If you were struggling with money ...would you get your hair done?

Basically this month is a bit of a tight month.
Due to paying off holiday and going away next weekend for 3 nights.
So paid out over £1000 on it all.
So my hair apt is due Wednesday and that is £115 or I postpone it till for 4 weeks time and use that £115 towards spends for trip away next weekend.
At the min I have £300 spending money but obviously if I don't get hair done up have £415
My hair is highlighted and hasn't been done in 3 months so I have roots.
What would you do?

Leave it

Geometric · 26/08/2022 19:50

Leave it, maybe try one of those root cover ups - I used to find they could double how long I could leave roots (but I was darkening greys, not putting in blonde). I’ve just let the grey come in now, saved me a fortune!

AthenaPopodopolous · 26/08/2022 19:52

Get your hair done and you’ll feel great on your holiday. Maybe ask for a cheaper service though like a half head of highlights?

I guess it's only 4 weeks
At the minute I'm hiding them with sunglasses on my head and dry shampoo.

@AthenaPopodopolous £115 is just for t section highlights
Full head is £150

Did you have to pay a deposit to cancel?

girlmom21 · 26/08/2022 19:54

Where are you going? Is it somewhere cheap!

girlmom21 · 26/08/2022 19:54

For your holiday, not hairdresser Grin

MarshaMelrose · 26/08/2022 19:58

Oh my god. Roots! This is like my worst nightmare. So this would be a difficult choice. I feel for you.
Could you get a temporary dye for your roots? Maybe get a friend to help at the back? The roots aren't going to be that long so even if it's not a great job, they won't look bad.
How much spends do you need, though, if the hotel is paid for? 5 days is £60 a day.

blondsalop · 26/08/2022 20:00

I'm so undecided
My hair isn't in great condition with the bleach so at least I will be giving it a break but I hate roots.
It would be nice to be away and not worry I'm going to run out of money ...and a extra £100 would be helpful
We are going to Blackpool for the illuminations next weekend

blondsalop · 26/08/2022 20:00

No -no deposit to cancel

Get it done. If there's a chance you won't feel comfortable/ happy going another 4 weeks.

I'd think after 3 months your roots are already substantial and you'd have probably liked it done sooner anyway.

Christmasiscominghohoho · 26/08/2022 20:02

I’d probably get my hair done and if I needed the extra £100 while away put it on a credit card for a couple of weeks.

nannybeach · 26/08/2022 20:04

The hair would be canceled. We moved house,DH unexpectedly lost his job (company liquidated on the Spot) I became sole bread winner, didn't even have a cut for 18 months, used a cheap box dye just for root touch up

chillipenguin · 26/08/2022 20:05

I would cancel it tomorrow when they open

MarshaMelrose · 26/08/2022 20:05

You're going to Blackpool? Hmm, no one will notice your roots. Lol. It's roots central in Blackpool.
On the other hand, there are lots of cheap places to eat and drink so you won't need much money either. What are you planning on doing? Entertainment can be expensive there and soon adds up.

Do you think I can get away with the roots for another 4 weeks ? Or am I pushing it

OP posts:
Skyeheather · 26/08/2022 20:10

I would just get the roots done and leave the highlights until next time, that should knock a bit of money off the bill.

Peppermint81 · 26/08/2022 20:12

Get the roots done at a cheaper hairdresser?

Hakeandling · 26/08/2022 20:14

I actually quite like the roots look and think yours looks good

chillipenguin · 26/08/2022 20:16

Ooh yes your roots look nice!
