Disney Plus doing Jilly Cooper's Rivals

This is just the best news. I've been waiting for an adaptation of Rivals since I first fell in love with the bounder Rupert C-B in circa 1997.

But the question is who will play him? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who can fill those boots - any suggestions?

God I hope it’s weekly. Then we can dissect it over the next week. Yayyyyyy!!

Weirdly, the chap who I think is playing James Vereker seems more RCB to me in my head. There is a quick clip of him in a lift in that trailer.

He is blond enough, but not handsome enough (the James Vereker actor).

Bas, Lizzie, Monica, Sarah and James all look brilliant. I'm even warming to Aidan Turner and his moustache!

Agreed. Monica is straight out of the image I have had of her in my head since I first read the book. I was totally anti Aiden Turner but I get it now. He will be a great Declan.

Ok I’m now back on the fence re RCB. However I’m sooo glad Declan and maud have Irish accents!

I was Caitlin when I first read it, then Lizzie. A side shunt into Janey but I was never as wild.

Yeah I'm liking Declan more, I don't like the tache but maybe they needed to age him a bit to make him plausible as Taggie's dad.

As suspected, Jilly most identifies with Lizzie Vereker.

Oh! The DM has an article referencing Jilly’s documentary and I’ve just realised Daysee Butler’s attack by the Prebendary is based on her own experience. Poor Jilly!

You get the sense of a person who has done her best to make the best out of life and enjoy it which comes across in the books too.

Feel like we’re in the final countdown now. I’ve waited since 1996 for this (when I 1st read Rivals)…. I’m soooo excited. As are my cats, RCB & Agatha Maud.

Looks like all episodes will drop at once. I’ve no idea how I’m going to pace myself.

I'd be surprised if all the episodes are released at once. They usually release the big exclusive series with new episodes once a week.
