Disney Plus doing Jilly Cooper's Rivals

This is just the best news. I've been waiting for an adaptation of Rivals since I first fell in love with the bounder Rupert C-B in circa 1997.

But the question is who will play him? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who can fill those boots - any suggestions?

Now, I don’t want to be difficult but what part of Rivals could this be filming? It’s at Chavenage House near Tetbury but I don’t know what house it is: Penscombe or the Priory or the Falconry or Green Lawns (Hollow Bottom Court ACTUALLY).

Could this camel guest be an example of Maud’s excesses at Patrick’s 21st? But if he’s not in it then…?

Yes I think classic Maude party excess. I guess a camel is cheaper than a giant pink and white striped marquee.

I will concede that the green taffeta is perfect. Camel party piece it must be!

Some new photos are up on Happy Prince TV’s Instagram page. Most of the cast look good but I still don’t like Rupert, and Declan shouldn’t have a moustache. Taggie looks a bit old, but they must have aged her up so the age gap is less creepy.

Just stumbled across some random ‘celebrity’ Instagram page and Disney+ seem to have taken over some sort of luxury house for a few days and created a ‘Rivals Retreat’. It’s a random mix of people. Caitlin Moran, Kate Lawler, the algorithm obvs works as it landed me on the stories of someone named Annawilliamsonofficial and I have absolutely no idea who she is BUT

She says she is a life long Copper fan and she said the 1st episode is brilliant and super true to the book.

Phew.

Oooohooooh - mind you, if I went on a Jilly retreat and had quaffed some wine before watching it, my review would be likely to be enthusiastic!

I've always been particularly invested in the Lizzie/Freddie subplot, AND I love Katherine Parkinson and Danny Dyer, so very excited about this.
