Disney Plus doing Jilly Cooper's Rivals

This is just the best news. I've been waiting for an adaptation of Rivals since I first fell in love with the bounder Rupert C-B in circa 1997.

But the question is who will play him? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who can fill those boots - any suggestions?

The tache is awful and not how I envisaged Declan at all. I had him down as a dark and swarthy Liam Neeson type. Aidan Turner is good though so will reserve judgement until I've watched it.

Don't so much mind that Rupert isn't a blonde. With him it's much more about swagger. I think Alex Hassell will be great. The actor Marcus Gilbert who played Rupert in Riders really looked the part but his acting wasn't the best and made Rupert just seem smarmy.

Can only think some sort of misguided attempt to make moustaches sexy again - in general they very v common in the 80s and before.

RCB photo is good, except, agree about the leads!

I'm so excited for this. Rivals and is hands down my favourite book and I really want to like this adaptation. I really want to love it. I just hope the fact that JC is involved, means it's true to the story.

I am still a bit about Rupert's casting. But Declan, Cameron, Lizzie & Monica look great to me. Shame no snippet of Bas.

I came here to post the trailer but see someone has beaten me to it! I do really want it to be good, but am quite anxious. Rupert just looks wrong to me and David Tennant isn’t right physically for Tony. Also Tony would never say ‘I beg your pardon’ - he would regard it as a very non-U phrase! I’m worried they’re going to get little details like that wrong, which won’t matter to most people but will irritate me as a Jilly-obsessive.
