Anyone want to hide from all the bad stuff in a 'What's for Dinner' thread?!

If so, come one, come all!

So, it's 26 degrees, it's the second night I've seen my eldest daughter in I don't know how long!

We're having honey soy marinaded steak, corn on cob, coleslaw, lettuce salad, and baby new potatoes.

What's on at yours?

OP posts:

Kids have just had steak, chips and mushroom sauce. Cooked a Thai massaman curry for DP and I will have diet ready meal (haven't decided which yet!)

SizzlerFizzler · 24/08/2022 17:18

I misunderstood your thread title and thought you were upset at people having 'bad' food for their dinner. Was picturing you wincing at the mention of chicken nuggets and wedges.

BarryBantam · 24/08/2022 17:21

Nice, OP. Lovely summer menu.

We're having sausages, roast kale and separate rosemary cubed potatoes (therefore maximising the 30 min oven use for the sausages!) with leftover pepperonata from last night plus leftover stewed pears in pomegranate molasses ( from last night) with Greek yoghurt for afters. I got a massive bag of pears for 49p from Morrisons last week and this is the last of them. I actually made a tarte tatin before I started stewing them - first time ever doing it and it was lush.

I thought the same as @SizzlerFizzler and was trying to work out what bad food it was as these threads always make me jealous of the lovely food.
We’re having curry; came back from holiday today and don’t have the energy to cook

Itreallyistimetogo · 24/08/2022 17:22

Gammon fried rice and curry sauce

Thefailinghousewife · 24/08/2022 17:23

These all sound delicious. Laughing at OPs possible nugget horror!

we are having Chinese takeaway as we are going on holiday tomorrow. I’m having duck in orange sauce with chips. Spare ribs and spring rolls to share!

MinnieMouseclubhouse · 24/08/2022 17:24

Pasta with tomato veggie sauce. Bits of chicken for DD and DH, grated cheese for me. DD has a virus and we've already been to a&e twice this week so ease is everything.

EpicGem · 24/08/2022 17:24

Chorizo, mushrooms and rice with a corn on the cob.

Simonjt · 24/08/2022 17:25

Quorn dinosaurs, mashed sweet potato, cauliflower, brocolli and gravy for the mudslide.

peonyjam · 24/08/2022 17:26

Mexican rice with green peppers, black beans and sour cream. Having it with mango salsa and tortilla chips.

Greensleeves · 24/08/2022 17:27

I have an old schoolfriend and her DH coming for a barbecue (haven't seen her for more than a decade) so we are having:

Mango, coconut and lime marinated chicken
Burgers
Sausages
Halloumi
Various sliced cheeses for the burgers, mexicana, edam, applewood smoked.
Mozzarella, tomato, basil and black olive salad
Green salad with avocado
Potato salad
Coleslaw

Lemon and raspberry cheesecake with fresh raspberries for after.

And it's just started bloody raining <cries>

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 24/08/2022 17:27

Oooh chicken and chips! Love a light thread 😂

BarryBantam · 24/08/2022 17:33

@Greensleeves if I stop the rain can I come for tea?

TeenDivided · 24/08/2022 17:33

Chinese takeaway in a calm.before.the.storm or condemned.daughter.eats.a hearty.meal way. Results day tomorrow Grin

iklboo · 24/08/2022 17:35

Chinese chicken & sweetcorn stir fry from the free Gousto box I got. Very quick and tasty.

Cheeselog · 24/08/2022 17:35

The plan was rainbow trout/veggie sausages with new potatoes and roasted Mediterranean veg but it’s actually a bit warm to put the oven on so I might sauté the veg instead.

sittingonacornflake · 24/08/2022 17:36

@Thefailinghousewife I'm SO jealous. I really fancy a Chinese but I don't want to order as we live in a holiday town so I know the wait will be mahoosive even on a week night. Wahhh.

SallyWD · 24/08/2022 17:38

I'm having grilled seabass, pasta salad and steamed broccoli and green beans.

Me too, I had to read it a few times to work it out 😆. We've had heated up chicken and lentil soup and part baked baguette as it's a multiple club night (the DC's kind not the dancing and alcohol kind unfortunately)

WhatWouldHopperDo · 24/08/2022 17:40

DH and I are having chilli with tortilla chips and sour cream. I’m making double as we’re going away in our caravan tomorrow so we’ll have it again tomorrow night so we don’t have to cook when we arrive.

DS (17) is having vege sausages and veg and rice (he cooks for himself when he doesn’t want what we’re having)

Adult DD is currently staying with us for a few months and she will no doubt whip
up something delicious in about 5 minutes flat. She has a knack of making something that smells glorious in the blink of an eye. Usually ramen or stir fried rice with lots of Korean flavours. I wish she’d make my dinner!! (She absolutely would if I asked her)

Saucery · 24/08/2022 17:40

Butternut and chickpea tagine, cooked in slow cooker.

hagelslaagfiend · 24/08/2022 17:42

Veg sausage rolls made from suma sosmix and ready rolled puff pastry. May serve with baked beans.
