Scammed on vinted!

Please read! I’m a bit stressed out and unsure what to do…I bought a Dior bag on vinted 2 days ago for £150 the seller had no reviews but I’ve bought from sellers without reviews before so thought nothing of it until I got a message from the seller that seemed a bit automated almost like a robot had written it I decided to brush it under the carpet however I bought another designer bag on vinted again today for around the same price and I was suprised to see straight after purchasing I got a message from the seller almost identical to the seller of the dior bag and now I’m worried that these “sellers” are actually bots or whatever scamming people and I’ve fallen for it twice! I’ve messaged the sellers but haven’t had any response they’ve not even read my messages…I did get an email today to say the bag I purchased 2 days ago will arrive by end of tomorrow but on vinted it says the bags not been posted so not sure if that emails part of their scam. I’m feeling rather upset about it all as I spent about £300 in total on these two items and can’t afford to lose that money please can anyone give me advice or any help towards this not looking to be judged. Was thinking if the items never show up then I can let vinted know and then I’ll get my money back or if they show up (doubt they will) and aren’t what was described I can show vinted and get my money back but just a bit stressed still.

I'm sure you would be protected for that. I'd contact vinted if only for peace of mind. I use it too and it's always been great so if it is a con, I'm sure vinted would help you but they need to know ASAP

Vinted won’t release your money to the sellers till you’ve confirmed you’ve received the purchases and are happy with them. If you don’t receive them then within 7 days you can also complain to Vinted.

I thought on Vinted you dont lose your money as if you don't get the goods you report it. Is that the one where you pay a small fee for payment protection?

I got scammed on there. I contacted vinted straight away and they paused the payment so the scammer couldn't ever get the money. I then had to wait a month to have it returned.

Seems to be a recurring thing on this site. My DP was scammed £200 on raybans!

I don't know how you can get scammed because vinted is set up so that if you don't receive the item requested or its not what was described they don't release the money until you say you are unhappy unless you don't do it within 5 days which means the seller will automatically get paid.

Hi what did you say to vinted when you got scammed…I’m not sure what I’d say as the only proof I have is the message seems automated etc. A whole month for a refund is very long but at this point I just want my money back!

Yes vinted has buyers protection so I guess I just have to wait till the delivery due date to report the item as not arrived but still a bit worried. I have anxiety so dosent help in this situation!

They are definitely scammers, there seem to be loads on there at the moment for high end goods and jewellery. I’d report them now & contact Vinted. I avoid all sellers with usernames that are just random numbers and who have no feedback. I’ve messaged a few just to see if they reply and they never do. I’m not sure how the scam works, but do not pick up the item or accept it when it arrives. It’ll be an empty box or something of low value. Get in touch with Vinted now & ask them to cancel the orders.

Even if you accept the item vinted don't release the money until you click that everything is OK

If you think it's a scam message vinted and let them know now

They don’t release the funds to seller until you’ve confirmed you’ve received it.

I just bought something that the seller later realised she had lost. After 7 days Vinted said they’d refund me as the seller hadn’t sent it.

Hopefully you’ll be able to get your money back soon.
For safety’s sake you want to buy from an established seller with good ratings in future…
And those letter/number usernames look very suss!

I'm sure you can report them if you don't receive the item...however I just wanted to check that you know those are most likely fake bags right? Maybe good first copies but they can't be genuine at that price point.

I'm overseas on holiday atm and those Dior bags are selling for EUR25 (fake) in the shops here

I avoided a similar situation recently OP. I usually use eBay but after reading a thread on here the other day I had a look for a bag I wanted. It was also around £150 (which was half the price on eBay). I didn't buy it because the seller had no reviews and the username was like that one you've posted - a jumble of random letters and numbers. Keep us posted, hope it works out.

If the seller hasn't marked as sent on binted you can cancel the transaction and you'll get your money back. I just did that with someone who hadn't responded to messages and hadn't sent the item. Got my money back in a few days

Thank you I tried to cancel one of the bags but it then says I have to wait for the seller to confirm the cancellation which they obviously won’t so I’m not sure what to do if the items never arrive then it’ll just cancel the purchase and I’ll get my money but if they send empty boxes etc like you said then vinted will wait for me to collect the items…I want to contact vinted about it but not sure where to contact them and what to say.

There are a lot of fake handbags sellers on vinted at the moment- they have no feedback, weird usernames and only seem to sell 1 item at a time.

Don't worry, you'll get your money back.

The names alone doesn't really suggest they are real people. I should imagine you'll be able to get it back from vinted when they don't turn up.

I think on Vinted sellers can set up automatic messages from a choice of options.
Ive not had a problem. One item had been sold and not deleted, I was refunded within 48 hours.
If the seller doesn’t post you get refunded.

dont worry you get the refund...i bought a ring....seller was meant to be in france....but actually tracking said item coming from china....so i suspected it would be a nasty fake....i got refund and months later item turned up....binned it.....

No one needs two £150 handbags. And you don't even know yet whether you have been scammed. You are creating a lot of unnecessary drama about it.

Also my experience, they do it with pushchairs and cots too, often the price is not a round pound and they list the same item (identical pics) using various usernames with random letters and numbers. Never have feedback.

If you go onto your profile in Vinted and then onto the Forums there is one called Members Questions . I think you will find a few threads relating to your exact same scenario and you may find some useful info on there from people who have been through the same thing.
