House spiders - how many have you seen this year?

I'm getting fed up of seeing them every night. I don't usually see one until September so this is early for me. Luckily dp will remove them but it's still not pleasant. My worst night so far we had 3!
The dc started off being terrified of them but now they think one on the wall is commonplace.

How many have you all seen, if any so far?

Bloody loads here already - not seen any mahooosive ones yet thankfully

TooHotToTangoToo · 17/08/2022 16:23

Not many tbh, less than normal. I live in a very old house and there's usually lots. Saw my first 'big bastard' house spider of the year this week

Snazzysausage · 17/08/2022 16:29

3 so big you could saddle them up and ride them.2 slightly smaller and a false black widow in the shed. Give me a snake, mouse, rat - anything but a spider. Definitely earlier than usual here.

Eurgh.

I would eliminate them all if I could.

CaveMum · 17/08/2022 16:35

We came back from a 2 week holiday at the weekend - big fat hairy buggers all over the house! Honestly I've never seen so many of them, at least 2 in every room!

Bettyboop3 · 17/08/2022 16:36

A different 1 in the bath every night for weeks.

Spinasaurus · 17/08/2022 16:38

We had a massive one on the stairs the other day.

We also appear to have been infested by a colony of Mothra wannabes. I chucked 3 of the fuckers out the other night. I'm going to have to get Godzilla out next.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 17/08/2022 16:43

No massive ones but countless of those thin straggly ones with the flimsy looking webs. House is full of those!

longcoffeebreak · 17/08/2022 16:48

Yuk where do you all live?

longcoffeebreak · 17/08/2022 16:49

I haven't had any am in a victorian terrace house in a town though

Atomicspider · 17/08/2022 17:08

27billion.
And a daddy longlegs.

stayathomer · 17/08/2022 17:11

got two out today and another out around three days ago. They don’t bother me too much but the kids find them at the worst times and there’s such drama!!!

TrueNorthernBird · 17/08/2022 17:14

About 4. Lovely 🕷! They eat the flies and are welcome guests in my house.

CloudCatz · 17/08/2022 17:16

Three.

I'd rather have flies than spiders. I cried at the last one I saw.

ScampiFlies · 17/08/2022 17:16

5 or 6. We just bought one of those spider sucker up thingies because I'm a bit freaked out by them but don't want to kill them either.

petshopboys · 17/08/2022 17:17

Had a few over the course of the past year, probably about 5. Lots of small spiders and harvestmen though!

bowchicawowwow · 17/08/2022 17:24

Woke up to one crawling across my face yesterday morning. I'm not scared of them but I did freak out on this occasion!

LoveKingGary · 17/08/2022 17:25

Millions already and they are MASSIVE. Seem bigger than ever.

LoveKingGary · 17/08/2022 17:26

Woke up to one crawling across my face yesterday morning

I live in fear of this happening to me and tell myself it's an urban legend

mondaytosunday · 17/08/2022 17:26

None inside but my goodness you just blink outside and another web appears! I'm always walking into them at the end of the garden where we have a pergola above a table, and there's loads on the fence posts.
Tons of flies inside though.

Gaveitall · 17/08/2022 17:28

Two or three, maybe four. There’s a big one under the dishwasher.
I love house spiders. Never kill them, just leave them alone.
Wouldn’t want to get too close to a Tarantula though.

slavetothekittens · 17/08/2022 17:39

Quite a few here. One lurks near the fireplace, one on the landing and I rescued a massive one from the bath this afternoon so he's gone on his merry way somewhere. There's probably more, but those are the ones who have introduced themselves. likes spiders

keeprunningupthathill · 17/08/2022 17:42

Do you live rurally OP? When we lived in the peak district in an old cottage (childhood) we saw massive spiders every day, now we live in a town and hardly ever see a house spider. I couldn't hack it, once I slept on the landing when there were three in my room, I woke up and there was one the size of a tarantula next to me head on the wall. Never again!
