Is it exciting going to the hospital and knowing that it's go-time?!

OP posts:
WhimsicalGubbins · 14/08/2022 21:36

6.30 am on a Wednesday morning.
She arrived at 8.24 Friday morning 🤦🏻‍♀️

The first time I went to the hospital yes, it was exciting, but I was eventually sent home, then After 24 hours, second time (because my labour was progressing so slowly) I crawled in screaming “somebody get this baby out”
So second time, not so much

FallOutPloy · 14/08/2022 21:37

Yes! It's super exciting!

Baby #1: mild pains about 9pm, felt "serious" by midnight, i went to the hospital at 2am and she was born 5am

#2: felt uncomfortable, like "it could be today" at about 8.30am, then I felt like it was ramping up quick so I went to the hospital "just in case" at 10:30am, he was born 11:00am

#3: very clear, strong, but randomly timed contractions from 2pm, like I'd have two contractions 5 mins apart, then 20 mins til the next one. That went on all day and all night. Baby was finally born 11:30 the next morning (and the contractions never became textbook 3 mins apart, they were all over the place right til the end 🤷‍♀️)

How long do you have to go?

Roselilly36 · 14/08/2022 21:41

With DS1 labour started at 3am, he was in my arms at 1:36 lunchtime.

DS2 10:30 at night, in my arms at 1:36 in the morning.

So two babies born at the same time 21 mths apart, but one in the day the other at night.

DS1 went into labour 8am after being kept in beforehand for pre eclampsia risks. Born 11.36pm.

DS2 didn't realise I was in labour as no signs of anything until an unexpected bleed at approx 10.30pm when I stood up from the sofa. Called hospital who advised call 999 due to bleed as they were unsure what risks would be if I was taken by car. Following various complications baby arrived 7.21am in theatre.

HorseInTheHouse · 14/08/2022 21:50

With my daughter I woke at 6 am and realised I had bled a little. Went to the hospital pretty sure we'd be sent away again but they told me it was happening. I didn't feel labour pains until after they'd had a probe around in there (horrible). She was born at almost exactly noon.

With my son I woke at around 1 am with contractions and I knew it was go time. Much more definite than the first time around! He was born at 7 am.

Yarnasaurus · 14/08/2022 21:51

Started labour around midnight, born around 5.30am, home birth so no hospital. I didn't really have time to think as I went from nothing to full on labour in the blink of an eye.

TokyoTen · 14/08/2022 21:53

6am ish on a Monday. I went in for my c section which had been booked in for 10am that day! Honestly I didn't dins it exciting I found it scary and.something I just wanted yo get over.

RumbleStrutt · 14/08/2022 21:55

Felt a bit off during dinner but it was v hot as this time of year. Started with contractions when it was dark and by 10pm ish said to DP we need to go as they were very regular (and I was under consultant care/DC was early).

Got there and checked in maybe 11pm ish. Would have been born at 4am but baby got a bit stuck and I needed an epidural. That slowed things down but eventually got going again and was born 10am in the morning.

4 rounds of toast with lashings of butter washed down with a litre of tea later that day is literally the best meal I’ve eaten.

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/08/2022 21:56

With DD I went into labour at around 8 pm in the evening. I didn't give birth for another 72 hours though. It was awful. DS, I went into labour in the early hours but it was manageable so I went back to sleep. Finally went in at about 8 am and had him by 6 pm. That was a much better experience. I was very frightened going to hospital as I didn't want a repeat of DD's birth. It was 13 years later and I was much older, in my 40's. I'm very glad I had a positive birth experience after a horror one.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 14/08/2022 21:56

We went out for dinner with in-laws and 4 year old DS1.
I was having mild pains and had a show the day before so knew it was imminent.
Tried to get some sleep but sent DH to collect my DM to look after DS1.
Got to hospital at 2.00am had DS2 at 7.30am.
My DS1 still remembers my DM standing at bottom of the stairs with a loaf of brown bread in her hand telling him I had delivered his little brother when his last memory was being put to bed the night before 😀
In-laws thought my DH was pulling their leg when he rang them with the news.

MissP2022 · 14/08/2022 22:00

DS1 induced

DS2 woke up at 2.30am. He was born just over an hour later 😁

ShinyPikachu · 14/08/2022 22:01

Both of mine were born in the morning. Firstborn, labour started around 9am and I was holding her half an hour later. Second, labour was 4 hours and birth at 11.30am.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 14/08/2022 22:02

DC1 - the clock flicked from 11:29 to 11:30 pm as I got into bed and my waters burst and contractions started. DS arrived by emcs at 6:27 am the following day.

DC2 - 15:05 pm - all my backups to pick up DS were out picking up their older children from school!! DD came by crash section at 11:45 that day.

babynoname22 · 14/08/2022 22:03

Waters went 2am. He was born at6.30am

SaltySeaWitch · 14/08/2022 22:03

DS - waters broke at 11.30pm ish Monday, mild irregular tightening from that point, got worse around 3am (Tuesday)… eventually made it to 4cm at around 7pm (Tuesday). He was eventually born Wednesday lunchtime.

DD - waters broke at about 7.45pm Tuesday, mild tightenings from about 8.30/9ish, got much stronger/more regular at about 11pm, she was born at 5am Wednesday.

With DS I was a bit annoyed to be going into hospital as I had planned a Homebirth but I’d been contracting strongly for over 12 hours and basically getting nowhere (he was OP/back to back) and I just needed some drugs and a sleep to give me any chance of delivering him. Still ended up with a cesarean but I’d given it a bloody good go!

With DD I was invited in for an assessment when my waters broke but I walked in telling everyone that I wasn’t in labour and would be going home to wait it out. Midwife gave me a sweep (I requested it) and I went from nothing to established labour very quickly after that and I never actually left!

Downtherefordancing · 14/08/2022 22:04

With my first, twinges started about 1am, went to hospital around 2am, he was born at 4:05am.

With second, woke feeling like she was on her way. Got to hospital around 12 midday and she was born at 12:45pm

With the third (and last) I knew in the afternoon she was on her way. Got to hospital about 5:15pm, walked through door and sat on the floor, quite sure she’d pop out there and then. A lovely older midwife convinced me to stand up and go to a Labour room. DC3 arrived about 15 mins later.

My labours have been very quick though 😊

Howlongwillthistake · 14/08/2022 22:04

Waters went at 1.30am, and born at 8.01pm

EcoCustard · 14/08/2022 22:05

4Dc and with my 2 spontaneous labour’s Dc contractions started at 6am arrived an hour later. Dc2 contractions began at 11.30pm ish, arrived at 1.35am. With Dc1 I was told from 16 weeks I would be induced and my waters went 24hours prior to the contractions so was in a state of shock as was told I would be induced if contractions didn’t begin. It all happened very fast too as I arrived at the labour suite I needed to push. I remember my DH driving to the hospital in a panicked state😁

Germolenequeen · 14/08/2022 22:06

Around 8pm born 6.15pm the next evening 😬

Lyn29 · 14/08/2022 22:08

Early hours Monday morning about 1am, my dd arrived 7.30 am Wednesday morning. I hadn't slept at all, was exhausted but so happy. When I went into labour I told my OH and his reply was "I don't think it is, my stomach still don't feel right from that kebab either" I still remind him how 10 years on!!

ShesThunderstorms · 14/08/2022 22:10

With my first I felt my first definite contraction around 10am on the Saturday, went in to hospital when I couldn't bear the pain any longer at around 1am on the Sunday morning. Only to be told it was 2cm! I was so sure the baby was coming any second! He finally arrived at 8.15ish that evening. Definitely didn't get excited going in with him as I was just in so much pain I couldn't think about anything else.
With my second I was in overnight- was going to be induced first thing in the morning. I woke around 4am thinking something might possibly have started on its own. 58mins later she was there!

MiseryWIthAStent · 14/08/2022 22:10

Labour started about 2am, went to the hospital about 11.50 and DD was born at 2.40.
With DS I had obstetric cholestasis and was induced, he was born on the toilet 🚽

Strawberry0909 · 14/08/2022 22:16

DS1 - first contractions around 6 am on the weds, didn't go to maternity unit until 1am ish, DS arrived 5:30pm on the Thursday, was very exciting and rather terrifying of the pain!

DS2 - contractions started 9 am ish but was in denial all day, they were too close to ignore by around 1am , DS arrived 10:30 am, was more nervous than excited

MyLifeIsFictional · 14/08/2022 22:16

2:15am and I went in straight away. Sent home because I wasn't dilated enough. Went back and I was 8cm. Took another 6 hours. Then my darling daughter was born. 💖

mac1974 · 14/08/2022 22:18

Dd1 Labour started about 11pm the Thursday evening. I was already due to be induced on Fri morning so when I went in I was 6cm I think. She was born early hours of sat. 28th hours in all
DD2. I popped to hospital as I thought something wasn't right. Induced about 9pm &'she was born about 4am.
