I’m on my period and it’s so heavy and painful I’m lying here feeling like a bag of rubbish that’s been run over and left in the heat 😭

What nice things have happened to you recently? What is a small lovely thing you’ve done? I need some wholesomeness right now!

My elderly neighbour isn't great with the heat, we have an ice maker so I've taken her a massive bag of ice!

Ooh, @Maireas, what ice maker do you have? Would you recommend it?

Oh, wow! That's amazing! Baby dolphins 💕! Do you have a pic that you can share?

Only video unfortunately.

Mine is that we've just returned from a holiday where the dc's would often disappear to the arcade of an evening whilst dh and I sat outside a bar next door. It was one of those ones where they collect tickets and can save for a priZe. On the first night id pointed to one of the stuffed squids hung up and said "aww, that's so cute!"

They were in there every night collecting tickets and said they were saving them for the 'grand prize'.
Then on the last night of the holiday they came up and presented me with the pink stuffed squid Id pointed out at the start of the holiday! It made me a bit teary tbh softy that I am.

She's called Squiddy and she's sat on my bedroom drawers now 😂

Caterlite, the bright red counter top one. It's brilliant!

We are on holiday atm, and DBro is busy organising a "night time minecraft treasure hunt" for DS1 (6) DBro is hiding sweets in the dark garage and DM is making an "adventurers outfit" (it involves a head torch, a floaty scarf/Cape, swim goggles and the plastic gun from a toy police set)

DS2 (2) keeps telling everyone "I so happy" whenever we go anywhere like the park/pool/to look at the neighbours goats.

Ladyof2022 · 13/08/2022 17:55

I have another nice thing for you!

My cat was screaming at me for food this morning, but soon as I put down some in his bowl, he walked away, and went out all day. Flies were buzzing around and the weather hot, so I placed a saucer on top, to stop it drying out and to stop the flies getting it.

I have never before placed a saucer over this cat's food.

Fast forward 8 hours. I just went into the kitchen, was washing some dishes, cat trots in at long last, and without any hesitation, knocks the saucer off sideways with his cheek and proceeds to eat the food!

Clever moggie!

I was shopping for a holiday dress. Got chatting to a lovely lady who was trying to decide on one of two dresses for her 80th birthday.
The one she loved was in my mums favourite colour (she passed away recently). I said I liked that one but she decided she would buy the other one. because it was more practical. She went on to say that she could hardly afford one let alone two.
I bought her the one she loved as well.
She managed to track me down to my workplace and gave me flowers and a thank you card. And she looked gorgeous in her bright blue dress.
Hope you feel better soon CakeFlowersCakeFlowers

@peepee123 what a lovely, lovely thing to do! You are a sweetie.

Boybandfacedfannyfart · 13/08/2022 17:58

Well, thanks to @alwaysmovingforwards I’m now spending Saturday night on the sofa sobbing. Cheers mate! 👍

Lovely thread, just opened a bottle of Prosecco, sat in garden!

Im pregnant and we can just see the baby kicking and everytime DS (18m) sees my belly move he has a fit of giggles which is the cutest thing.

Sorry you feel so rubbish, op Flowers

Oh that is beauuuuuuutiful! 😍

Life has been just relentless lately but lots of feel good stuff too. DD 4mo was just giving me lovely laughs which is rare as she still thinks I am part of her and laughs for everyone but me 😄 going to paint some flowers on the shed and ripped down a wardrobe today which are 2 satisfying things in my book :)

Cantstandsmugness · 13/08/2022 18:06

@Iamanunsafebuilding i went to Boston 10 years ago, stayed at the Lennox, would recommend, then cape cod, which was like going back in time. Was amazing, day trip to Marthas Vineyard and a boat trip to see hump backs. You'll have ball.

plantseverywhere · 13/08/2022 18:08

Thank you so much everyone who has commented so far!! It’s really cheered me up.

My nice thing now… my boyfriend has just finished work and he’s on his way back so I can go to his, and he’s picked me up a cold can of coke to have. He’s also going to order us pizza and we’re going to sit in his garden and share a bottle of wine. Still feeling a bit rubbish, but definitely better!

Had a cool shower and when I got out, my puppy had parked himself outside to wait for me and gave me a greeting so bouncy and joyful you’d think he hadn’t seen me in weeks.

Amdone123 · 13/08/2022 18:25

@Twawmyarse , that's so lovely. Everytime you look at Squiddy, you'll not only be reminded of your lovely holiday but that your dc are so thoughtful ! Good job 👏

Iamanunsafebuilding · 13/08/2022 18:33

Thanks @Cantstandsmugness I'm excited at the thought of it, I do still want to do NY but I want to plan a proper holiday rather than a city break!

I was in the local Tesco express yesterday, in the queue for batteries.
Old guy at the front was obviously and very visibly down on his luck and clearly not living well.
He was trying to buy a cheap sandwich and a can of coke, holding out a handful of shrapnel for the cashier.
After counting it she regrettably told him he didn't have enough for both, but did have enough for either item.
The old man looked really confused about what to do next.
Quick as a flash the man behind him stepped forward and gently said to him "hey my friend, we all need a helping hand sometimes, let's get ourselves a meal deal, I know you'd do the same for someone else".
The old man was shocked but really grateful.
They both went to the chiller cabinet at the side and picked some stuff, and he paid for it all at the self service and they left.
On my way out I saw them both sitting on the low wall eating sandwiches in the sunshine, smiling like they were sharing a joke.

It was such a nice moment I had an unexpected little cry as I drove off.

The world just isn't totally shit.
There are really good people everywhere and they walk amongst us.

I often see posts that say 'made me well up' .. and think .. 'get a life' .. but this one... real tears at some genuine humanity ...

peepee123 · 13/08/2022 19:04

@alwaysmovingforwards you win! Lovely post.

I am going to Italy on Monday; booked it 3 years ago and it has been postponed twice. 🏖🌞🤞

I'm in tears that's just lovely thank you for sharing! The world seems so aggressive, depressing and low right now! That's just what we need to hear!! Idea for a thread maybe? 🥺🙏🏽

I've been cleaning and tidying up my new house, it's really coming together. All my deliveries have came on time and not had to hang about for ages, plus I found a really reliable tradesman Smile

I've just watched Tony Hart doing his pastel and marker pen stone henge on tiktok. Amazing.

I love watching his old videos on YouTube. He was so talented.

What a nice thing after feeling so bad earlier. This will hopefully cancel out some of the yuck and pain of this morning. Hope you are sat enjoying your wine.

I have just booked a little holiday to Europe for next year which will get me through the cold winter months!
