If you drink 2L fluid per day how many times do you pee in a day?

Just that really... if you drink the recommended 2L fluid (not just water, tea/milk/juice etc), how many times a day do you go to the toilet?

I try drinking the recommended amount but I find myself in the bathroom all day!!!!!

Same. I just can't do it. Even 1 litre is pushing it.

Stropalotopus83 · 04/08/2022 19:14

Same here. I've tried upping my water intake over the last few weeks and am drinking around 1.5litres a day and am constantly back and forth to the loo! I can't see how it's doing me any good as it appears to just come straight back out again 🤷🏻‍♀️

saveforthat · 04/08/2022 19:17

I drink about 3L and yes I need to pee quite a lot. Luckily I work from home mainly so it's not an issue. I got talking to a man on holiday once who worked in one of those little ticket booths along the seafront. He said he drunk nothing all day and then rehydrated in the evening. I couldn't do that.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 04/08/2022 19:19

I drink 2-3 litres, I pee every 2-3 hours.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 04/08/2022 19:23

Every 2/3hrs probably. I think your body gets used to it

LooksBetterWithAFaceMask · 04/08/2022 19:25

You get used to it. I drink a measured litre a day plus tea, juice and more water in the evening. At first I was like a dry plant pot went in the top and immediately put the bottom but I’m much more used to it now and pee a regular number of times a day.

NoEffingWay · 04/08/2022 19:31

I drink at least two litres a day and pee about every two hours. I would rather see my bathroom less often but I hate feeling thirsty and had it drummed into me as a kid the importance of keeping my fluids up and tend to have a drink on the go.

mynameischloe · 04/08/2022 19:32

See I've been drinking this much for a long time and still not used to it!! My urine is always very clear, even first thing in the morning!

Maybe it's time to throw in the towel and just drink when I'm thirsty.

I drink 2-3 litres and pee 4 times a day. Wake up, at lunch, before leaving office, before bed. Works for me!

mynameischloe · 04/08/2022 19:43

Wow @SavingsThreads you have a great bladder!

I'm the same. Drink 3 odd litres a day of water. Always have done but seem to pee loads now. Got worse as I got older, 50's now

Itsvalentino · 04/08/2022 19:58

This is why they say drinking plenty of water aids weight loss, it’s all the running backwards n towards to the loo.

I drink all the time and wee a lot and that’s okay

PantsParty · 04/08/2022 20:07

I drink probably triple that and I just pee all day 🤣

mynameischloe · 04/08/2022 20:11

What about when you're out and about? Do you use public loos every 20 mins?

I drink about 3 litres per day. I pee when I get up and then don't pee again til lunchtime despite drinking 3 mugs of coffee plus at least 700mls water (have a water bottle on my desk). Can easily go for 5 or 6 hours without peeing.

But once I've peed at lunchtime then I pee about every 2 hours! I drink the same amount of water in the afternoon and 2 mugs of herbal tea but no coffee.

We always have a big jug of water on the dinner table and I usually have 2 glasses with my meal, so about another 500mls. Then a mug of decaf coffee before bed. I ALWAYS wake for a pee at about 2am. Until I hit my 50s I used to sleep through

I do use them a lot! I also still have a baby pouch (he’s 9 months now I know I have no excuse haha!) and sometimes I puff it out so I look pregnant and cafes and pubs let me use their toilets 🤣 also works for getting seats on trains.

unless you are very heavy or very tall or it's very hot or you are exercising at a high rate, no one normally needs to 3 litres, the average adult female needs 1.2 -1.5 litreswater a day (6-8 cups) we get another 20% from food so a total of about 1.5-2 litres, all fluid counts including that in food, coffee etc taken from NHS website

there is no medical benefit in consuming 3-4 litres instead, in fact over consumption of fluid can put kidneys under strain

StopStartStop · 04/08/2022 20:31

3L. Constantly!

My thoughts exactly.

God no idea. I drink loads, 2L is nothing for me. Wee whenever I need to really. Probably 8-10 or more times today 😁 luckily never in the night and am able to hold it when out and about!

mynameischloe · 04/08/2022 20:35

I can hold it whilst out and about but doesn't the feeling of needing a wee all day drive you crazy?

OP posts:
joojitzoo · 04/08/2022 20:36

Your bladder should get used to it and you end up not needing the toilet as much.
People can have different sized bladders and strengths though and some are more sensitive or irritable than others but more water is generally a good idea for everyone particularly in this heat. Of course if you have a medical condition check with your own doc.

MassiveSalad22 · 04/08/2022 20:36

I don’t spend all day feeling like I need a wee though. I just feel like I need a wee every couple of hours and go do one.
