Do you set an alarm to wake up on the weekend when you are not working?

I don’t have to get up in the morning but I just set my alarm for 8am. Dc are teenagers now so I don’t need to be up at a certain time so I don’t know why I do it. I used to love a lie in but I prefer to be up early these days.

No alarm but naturally wake up at around 7am. Can go back to sleep if I fancy

Jalisco · 29/07/2022 22:23

8am is early?

Strangerthings4NW · 29/07/2022 22:25

No but I usually wake up around 7/8am then wash and go down the town. I like to get a coffee and watch the world go bye for an hour.

dementedpixie · 29/07/2022 22:25

I never set an alarm any day of the week
I wake naturally fairly early

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 29/07/2022 22:25

Yes because DD gets up at 5.30am and while she can head downstairs, sort out a cold breakfast and watch TV by herself now as she's 8 I don't like to leave her too long. I set the alarm for 7am just in case I don't wake up naturally before that.

Shamoo · 29/07/2022 22:26

God yes otherwise I wouldn’t wake until midday!

Barbequebeans64 · 29/07/2022 22:28

I have an alarm called a toddler. "Mama" is the only choice of sound and 6am is the only time available.

EspeciallyDeIighted · 29/07/2022 22:29

Depends if any of us are going anywhere, if we are then yes but otherwise no but I normally wake between 6.30 and 7 regardless.

Yes same. Except mine says CHEERIOS.

Not a chance unless DD or I have plans or an activity to get to. I was so relaxed and full of energy when I was on furlough during Covid and didn’t have to set an alarm for two months. Being woken by DD (7) doesn’t bother me the same way as I love her happy shout of ‘Mummy, it’s morning!’ and cuddles before getting up. Also she is a night owl like me and rarely awake before 7am naturally.

mrsfollowill · 29/07/2022 22:30

Nope! I hate hate hate being woken by the alarm Monday to Friday. I usually still wake up at 6.30am and love the moment I realise it is Saturday and I can turn over and go back to sleep. Sometimes I get up and have a cup of tea and then go back to bed. I'm lucky and can drop asleep really easily (my mother and sister are horrified I do this- I should be being productive and deep cleaning my house by all accounts!) I've done the child rearing years- up at 4am with a two yr old who thinks when the sun is up it's daytime. Now just me, DH and adult DS who all appreciate a good lie in!

MakeadealwithGod · 29/07/2022 22:30

I will probably be up before 8am but I set the alarm just in case. It wouldn’t hurt just to wake up naturally at 10.30 but I never would!

It's 'at the weekend' not 'on the weekend' - unless you're American.

Allmarbleslost · 29/07/2022 22:31

No but I'm always awake fairly early anyway. 8.30 at the latest.

TroysMammy · 29/07/2022 22:31

I have a cat who doesn't know it's the weekend.

Eileen101 · 29/07/2022 22:32

No chance, but I will wake to an under 5 standing next to me watching me or tapping my face requesting milk or bananas.

PriamFarrl · 29/07/2022 22:34

No. But I don’t have any window covering in my bedroom so I generally wake up at about 6am. Also my cat reminds me when it gets much later.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 29/07/2022 22:34

No alarm on a Sunday... I usually wake up around 8:15 as I usually need the loo by then. I have a rule that if I wake up after 8 that I don’t go back to sleep as it fucks me for that night. If I wake up before I can go back to sleep.

dalmatianmad · 29/07/2022 22:35

Absolutely not, hoping I don't wake till late morning. 12 hours sleep will be appreciated. I've been on nights all week and feel exhausted 😩

Ragwort · 29/07/2022 22:37

I very rarely set an alarm, I tend to wake around 6am ...doesn't matter what time I go to bed. Once I am awake I find it hard to go back to sleep ... although I managed it once this week (on holiday) & slept until 9am.

Apollonia1 · 29/07/2022 22:40

Why would you set an alarm if you don't have to be up for an appointment? Why not sleep as long as your body wants you to?

I never set an alarm, but I've twin toddlers who generally wake me at 7:30am or earlier. I'd love a lie-in.

UserError012345 · 29/07/2022 22:42

No I don't need an alarm to wake.

RaininSummer · 29/07/2022 22:45

Not unless I definitely need to be up and out by 9 or 10. Don't usually need the alarm as wake up at 4, 5, 6 and 7 normally but sometimes am just so tired I need to sleep past 9 to survive the week.

FreezyFreezy · 29/07/2022 22:54

Do I heck! On a weekend or school holiday I get up when I want except on Wednesdays when I get rudely awakened by the dustmen. Dc get up at 8, dh gets up around 9 or so, and I get up at 11 or 12.

Summersdreaming · 29/07/2022 22:56

Yes my weekend alarm is 8.40am just in case I don't wake up before then. Sometimes I switch it off but I could sleep until 10am if I'm really tired
