We’re having an argument!

Dd and I think doors, Ds is adamant it’s wheels.

Hmmm I reckon it's 50/50. My piano has loads of wheels. Then my garden kneeler has wheels (not that they work!) sunlounger has wheels and of course wheel barrow.
My suitcase has wheels, most of my drawers open with wheel like spindle things.
Shopping trolleys have wheels, and Zimmer frames and mobility scooters and of course wheelchairs.
Ds has loads of wheels with various toy vehicles and then all the Lego wheels.
Loads of farm machinery has wheels.
But then loads of doors to.
I kinda wish I hadn't opened this thread OP, I'm going to be thinking about this for a long timeGrin

Is the hinge on a door not some kind of reverse wheel?

If so then wheels win

whataloadabullocks · 24/07/2022 20:22

I still think wheels but my 8yo pointed out a few things to me, hotels have lots of doors, every house has lots of doors, obviously there are places in the world where buildings won’t have as many doors but there are still a lot if you think about cupboards etc..
Do you think the number of guests with wheeled suitcases out number the number of doors? Genuine question not being snippy and hope it's doesn't come across that way. I think your 8 yr old has very made some very good pointsSmile

Lockers! What about all the lockers in the world, they have doors! I’m not giving up without a fight!

its fine, I listed suitcases on my earlier post for things with wheels.

I think hotels will win on doors, just. Most hotels will have 2-3 doors at the entrance, then office/ staff areas, cleaning cupboards, lifts, some hotels will have a multitude of security doors just to get on the correct floor or into the stair/lift areas, door to each room, bathroom doors, some wardrobe doors or adjoining doors, maybe a safe, fridge, cupboards, then there are hotels with lots of quiet doors in the corridors, kitchen area, lots of fridges, kitchen cupboards, fire exits.

Yes, all this.

Plus fire doors in all public buildings.

I googled. A hinge is a wheel and thus you DS is the winner as all doors have wheels; but there are many a wheel without a door.

Amen 🙏

NorWey · 24/07/2022 21:36

Thank you @LemonSwan. I may not pass on that information just yet … :)

It is quite crazy how many more wheels than doors there must be then.

I have a set of bifolds which I am going to generously count as 4 doors rather than 1. Each door has 12 hinge wheels so 48 in total. So quite an incredible no of wheels must exist in this world if you think about how many doors you are imagining. And that’s before we get to wheel wheels in themselves or other wheel devices for other things.

LemonSwan · 24/07/2022 21:51

eg. My google search also informed me that all handles have wheels.

So there must be a million hidden wheels in a home.

WaitingOnATrain · 24/07/2022 22:01

I'm going to say wheels only because LEGO make a lot of them.

easyday · 24/07/2022 22:02

Wheels. Think of all the inner watch and clocks and machinery made from wheels.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 24/07/2022 22:16

@UnreasonableSheep

You have a very poor dictionary if that is the extent of it's definition of "wheel".

declutteringmymind · 24/07/2022 22:22

All the cupboard doors! Wardrobe doors!

NewCatName · 24/07/2022 23:06

Nah, I'm not having it. A hinge is not a wheel.
