We’re having an argument!

Dd and I think doors, Ds is adamant it’s wheels.

This question is all over the internet right about now

SheilaWilde · 24/07/2022 16:05

I'd say wheels.

SavingsThreads · 24/07/2022 16:08

Wheels absolutely. Every desk chair, cabinet on wheels, toy car, the innards of machinery, vehicles, bikes, carts, train carriages, sliding doors etc etc

But offices have wheely chairs?

Oo true. I'd forgotten about wheely chairs. That probably swings it more towards wheels...

I heard a good question on Radio 1 recently.

Would you rather watch your parents have sex every night for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop? 😁

AliceMcK · 24/07/2022 16:09

Thinking of things with wheels in our house

roller states/blades/heelys
hover boards
bikes
scooters
dolls prams
Lots of toy cars, Barbie, hot wheels, ambulances etc….
Toy shopping trolley
suitcases
office chair
beds
draws on wheels
lawn mower
wheely bins
patio boxes
bbq
storage containers
robots/droids, we have a few that roll around

I don't think that's a good question at all. It's lewd and a ridiculous scenario. Not to mention the undertones of sexual abuse.

Are gates counted as doors? They are functioning as doors, but with a lot of gaps in them…

Yes (because I want doors to be the right answer!)

What a lot things like toilet seat lids? Can they be counted as doors?

And there are those trap door spiders aren’t there? There must be millions of those, all with their custom made trap doors!

Definitely grasping at straws!

  • what about things like toilet seat lids.

Lift doors. Car bonnets (they’re a sort of door surely). All the doors on trains.

@Octomore I prefer to see it as being inventive and presenting a robust and imaginative argument (whilst having a sneaking suspicion that I’m on the wrong team!)

The number of wheels hiding in plain sight now I think about it is a bit freaky.

If doors and wheels came to life and ganged up on the human race we’d be in trouble. (Hey they have been more ludicrous movie plots!).

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 24/07/2022 16:40

Wheels. If we look globally then you've got a lot of places where housing is more basic and there are very few doors but quite a lot of bikes.

My home with lots of doors has 14 door but we have 2 cars and 6 bikes which is 10 wheels. Plus a wheelbarrow so 21. And if we are counting lego ones then a million of those.

Comedycook · 24/07/2022 16:52

I'm slowly coming round to the idea of wheels

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 24/07/2022 16:58

Wheels or tyres?

QuebecBagnet · 24/07/2022 16:59

Our household has eight doors, 13 if you include the sheds actually. We have three cars and 8 bikes. So I say wheels.

actually do car doors count?

QuebecBagnet · 24/07/2022 17:01

Ok, I’m going doors now. I have 16 kitchen cupboards, washing machine door, tumble dryer door.

QuebecBagnet · 24/07/2022 17:02

My vacuum cleaner has wheels, my office chair has 5 wheels…..I’m going back to wheels.

Spudlet · 24/07/2022 17:07

We have three wheelie bins, so that’s 6 wheels right there. Plus 5 bikes and a trailer bike, and a wheelbarrow, a toy tractor and trailer and one of those tikes cars, and a scooter as well, so that’s 24 wheels in the back garden alone… not counting all the toy diggers for the sandpit (I have no idea how many of those we have). And we have two cars, so that’s another 12 wheels counting the spares. That’s before we even get into the house and start looking at Lego wheels (approximately eleventy billion, we have a Lego fan here), toy cars and things, wheels in drawers, wheely cases and pizza wheels (they have to count!)! And 6 wheels on the kitchen drawers, I know because I had to fix all the buggers when we moved in (😑). Are we also counting stopcock valves as wheels? That’s another 2 or 3 I think.

Oh, the lawnmower also has wheels! 4,
I think.

There are 13 big doors inside the house, 5 per car as we have a hatchback, 6 on various outbuildings, 10 on the kitchen cupboards, 2 on the fridge freezer, one on the washing machine. So that’s 42 plus toys. Wheels, we have 44/45 plus toys. But I believe we have far more toy wheels than toy doors. So I remain Team Wheel.

I have spent way too much time considering this.

Spudlet · 24/07/2022 17:08

Omg the hoover! That’s another 4 wheels, so we are pushing 50 now…

Spudlet · 24/07/2022 17:08

Oh, but also the the wood burner door… taking us to 43

Octomore · 24/07/2022 17:10

How many drawers do you have? I counted 4 wheels in the mechanism for each drawer, except a few which were cheap and had no wheels.

Spudlet · 24/07/2022 17:12

Only our kitchen drawers have wheels - the rest are all old fashioned solid wood things and just have runners.

Glove compartments in cars though, so they count? Plus the little petrol cap cover flap things? That’s another 2 doors per car…!

AliceMcK · 24/07/2022 17:21

My 8yo thinks doors my 10yo wheels. At least they have stopped arguing about roblox for 5 min 😂

I still think wheels but my 8yo pointed out a few things to me, hotels have lots of doors, every house has lots of doors, obviously there are places in the world where buildings won’t have as many doors but there are still a lot if you think about cupboards etc..

ive done a rough list of wheels, here’s my door one, I’m trying to think of places that have lots of doors

Obvious ones, houses, cupboards, cars..
storage facilities, lots of doors on individual units
hotels
office blocks
blocks of flats
shipping containers
boats/submarines
prisons
trains
schools/colleges/universities
hospitals
care homes

o dear, I think I’m far to invested in this question.

FlamingoDust · 24/07/2022 20:00

Wheels I reckon
