Anyone else stuck near to / at Dover?

We are completely gridlocked in four / five hour delays due to border control issues. Kids are climbing the walls already

Good luck. We were there a fortnight ago and it still took 40 mins to get through border control with 6 people in the queue.

Thank you! It's utter chaos. Just a text so far from the ferry company to say four hour delays and we'll be put on whatever sailing they can put us on. It's DS1's birthday today so he's not impressed.

How awful. I live local ish and heard it on the news. Do you have water/snacks with you? How long have you been waiting?

Apparently only half of the 12 booths are open which isn't helping, but once you get past the bottleneck it's smooth sailing (sorry, couldn't resist the pun)

Dover port have called critical incident. Basically the French didn't turn up to man the passport booths!

If everyone didn't have to get passports stamped then that would have saved time. Blame Brexit!

We're stuck too. Have been gridlocked in central Dover since 6.30am. Chaos. At least the police have arrived now and are marshalling traffic through town.

We are just outside the ferry port now, so it was nowhere near a five hour delay (maybe 2). The police marshalling the traffic appears to be helping. We have missed our sailing but will see when we get on. Wishing everyone luck today!

I can remember a few years back when there were massive tailbacks to the Port. We were stuck on the motorway from 10:00am until 3:00am following morning. Please were out delivering water and snacks throughout the day.

We clearly missed our midday sail!

When we got through customs they were literally putting people on any boat that was there just to get them off the Dock and on their way.
The delays were down to the Fench "stringent checks" due to the terrorist attack in Paris a week or so earlier.

Ironically the 1st time our passports were actually checked was at Disneyland 2 days later!

We just went through passport control. The staff are all looking very relaxed about everything - no sense of urgency, no marshalling inside the port. It's all very business as normal but taking bloody ages.

How long does it take to stamp a passport?

We're now on the ferry, hooray! 4 hours after our scheduled time...

Well it’s true. 51% of the people who voted, voted away our rights to freedom of movement in the rest of Europe.

We have made it 0.7km in the last 40 minutes.

We have been sent down the A20 which is now completely gridlocked near frogholt

Hythe nearly gridlocked apparently, impossible to get to Hawkinge, tesco roundabout at a standstill
People being turned round from Lyminge, Peene etc
I heard there was an accident on m20, both lanes closed and air ambulance called
