Has anyone had this issue with Evri? 🤔

So I’ve ordered a pair of trainers from JD with the expected delivery date being the 19th (next Tuesday.) Unfortunately I didn’t actually realise the courier was Evri, which is just Hermes rebranded because of its’ horrendous reputation.

The last email I got was from Evri saying they’ve received my trainers from JD. I got no text this morning and as far as I’m aware I wasn’t expecting it to be delivered today - but I’d expect a text if it was meant to be delivered. I then get another email telling me that my parcel’s been delayed and they’ll update me when it’s out for delivery.

I’m only anxious because I’d like to know exactly what this “delay” is and I know how unreliable Hermes are. It doesn’t say anything else and there’s no human you can speak to on a contact number or customer service line - just an automated chat with a robot that tells me the little information I already know.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this and if it was all okay? I’ve emailed JD to let them know what’s going on. Just feel uneasy about it! I find it a bit suspicious that they received my parcel one minute and then suddenly there’s a delay.

Yes I've had this a couple of times in the last month or so, I think they're just a bit behind, certainly that was the case at Christmas. Both turned up within a week of the initial 'we have your parcel' message, I woke up to an 'out for delivery today' message in both instances and both subsequently arrived which was fine and within their guidelines albeit slower than usual.

I can't say I've actually ever had a problem with an Evri delivery, but by the sound of it am fortunate.

I'd just keep the faith and wait a few more days OP, I reckon it'll arrive - hopefully soon. Waiting for parcels is a pain.

We asked our local courier about the conflicting messages. He reckoned that the depots do this to avoid fines from the retailers when they know they're about to miss targets.

I had an email from them about 10:30 last night saying they couldn't deliver because I wasn't in and no safe space, I was in and checked the Ring video and no one had called, on the website it said there had been a problem with my delivery, I wish they wouldn't blatantly lie about me not being in.

I must admit my heart fell when it said on the delivery information that it was a new courier as my previous one was very good. Hopefully I will get it sometime, it was a curtain from John Lewis, I usually just get it delivered to Waitrose but it was with something else that had to be home delivery.

My order from superdrug made on 30th Dec is delayed, according to Evri tracking. Yet my Superdrug order made on 4th Jan was actually delivered by Evri on 5th! I didn't pay for next day either.

It can only be delivered if there's a courier available to take it out.
Evri aren't Amazon with 7 days a week cover.

They should be really though. They’re a delivery company. They should
be able to deliver things in the time frames they claim they will. Not doing so should be the exception rather than the rule.

Tbh, Amazon have been much slower recently too. And DPD were (are?) a total mess in the run up to Christmas. It’s all just less good than it used to be, service-wise.

LlynTegid · 06/01/2023 08:10

I advocate there should be a legal requirement for you to be told who the courier company will be, before you pay for any online order. Perhaps even have to tick a box to acknowledge you have read this.

Whilst there are people who would accept Hermes aka Evri to save a bit of money, I would guess a lot of companies would either choose a different carrier or at least give the option.

You'd also be able to spot scams 'we've got a parcel for you' texts and emails.

RedRiverShore2 · 06/01/2023 08:10

I would much rather they just said we didn't have time to deliver your parcel or it was left at the depot/we forgot it than blatantly lie about me not being there

OnaBegonia · 08/01/2023 16:05

@onyttig
It's your retailer who is offering you next day etc, they are well aware EVRI are not full Sunday coverage, but carry on charging their customers then it's the couriers getting moaned at at doors, it's not the individual drivers fault your parcel is late, they deliver every day what they collect at depot.
Why should the Evri drivers work 7 days? imagine allowing them a day off 🙄

Hi, Has anyone had a parcel delivered by evri to an impost locker, then don't receive an email with QR code and number to open the locker, tried the chatbot thing for an email back asking me to ask neighbours if they have the parcel? Useless company😡

blackpinkinyourarea · 23/07/2023 18:18

Ive had this twice. The first time was at Christmas when they were just very overwhelmed with parcels and it did eventually turn up.
The second one went fully awol and was just delayed indefinitely. I had to put a claim in with who i had actually bought the item from and get a refund.

LoisLane66 · 23/07/2023 23:12

It's not up to the customer to contact the courier. You contact the seller who has Evri's number and it's they who sort the problem.

Hermes (or Evri as they're now calling themselves) are by far the WORSE delivery company on the planet as far as I'm concerned.

I live in a flat & I've had several deliveries by them where they'd leave parcels downstairs in the communal stairwell for ANYONE to see or steal.
They NEVER called me, knocked or carded my door, they just left the parcel on a window shelf downstairs.

Whenever I have a delivery, I always ask them NOT to use Evri, if they refuse then I don't use that company anymore, Ever. FULL STOP.

xRichardx · 13/01/2024 14:50

Obviously Evri (Rebranded) are paying minimum wage and either don't train them or there's little or no consequences if they leave parcels outside.
As it would seem that an undelivered parcel is frowned upon, even if there's no one in to sign for the package.
But to not even bother to knock on the customers front door, is pretty pathetic excuse in my eyes.
Evri Hermes or whatever your calling yourself, this has to STOP.
I and everyone else should boycott Evri until such time as they get their act together and be made accountable for their actions. By that I mean Train your staff to think of the customer as say they were your Mum or Dad, Brother or Sister, in other word someone that you care about and that there not just a means to an end.

So join with me and BOYCOTT Hermes/Evri until further notice.
