Has anyone had this issue with Evri? 🤔

So I’ve ordered a pair of trainers from JD with the expected delivery date being the 19th (next Tuesday.) Unfortunately I didn’t actually realise the courier was Evri, which is just Hermes rebranded because of its’ horrendous reputation.

The last email I got was from Evri saying they’ve received my trainers from JD. I got no text this morning and as far as I’m aware I wasn’t expecting it to be delivered today - but I’d expect a text if it was meant to be delivered. I then get another email telling me that my parcel’s been delayed and they’ll update me when it’s out for delivery.

I’m only anxious because I’d like to know exactly what this “delay” is and I know how unreliable Hermes are. It doesn’t say anything else and there’s no human you can speak to on a contact number or customer service line - just an automated chat with a robot that tells me the little information I already know.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this and if it was all okay? I’ve emailed JD to let them know what’s going on. Just feel uneasy about it! I find it a bit suspicious that they received my parcel one minute and then suddenly there’s a delay.

It can only be delivered if there's a courier available to take it out.
Evri aren't Amazon with 7 days a week cover.

liveforsummer · 23/07/2022 09:38

Mine has gone quiet again now. Last weekend I had no communication about either missing parcel over the weekend the one with the failed delivery yesterday said they'll deliver on the next working day so I assumed they don't deliver on weekends

liveforsummer · 23/07/2022 09:41

Also, to the PP diverting to shops etc that does cause a delay as often it's not your local courier who does this,

In my case nobody did this. It sat at the depot for nearly 2 weeks then supposedly returned to retailer (who doesn't have it either). Not before they sent me an email saying they'd tried to deliver but no one was in so that's why it was being returned- the shop is open til 11pm 7days a week Hmm

LaWench · 23/07/2022 10:05

Evri / Hermes are a pile of shite as a delivery business, however I can't fault our local driver, he's pleasant and left parcels in a safe spot if we're out.

Evri problems
3 parcels all show in transit then show delivery delayed
Nothing delivered
Any idea what's happening?

Mine eventually turned up when I had that message so don't give up just yet!

liveforsummer · 09/08/2022 19:17

My last 2 parcels showed delivery delayed. One came the next day (I'd paid for next day delivery so it was late) the other got sent back to the retailer without attempting to deliver 😒

liveforsummer · 14/08/2022 14:38

Latest Evri situation- 2 parcels still due today. One coming with DPD. I have an hour time slot, a tracker that shows me where van is, how many drops before mine and a more specific estimated time til the parcel is with me. Also had an Amazon delivery this morning that offered me the same. Final parcel is Evri. A vague 3 hour time slot then a further email sailing it's been delayed but claims to still be coming today. Taking bets now on that likelihood! Why can all the other companies manage what they do? Dpd is only marginally more expensive and I did one would be happy to pay it. Annoyingly the company this parcel is coming from normally does use DPD. They've obviously moved to the dark side

I sell quite a few things on Vinted and have never had an issue with Evri/Hermes until last week. I posted a parcel at my local shop, got the update to say it had been collected and then another to say it was at the local depot. Then nothing. It’s been 8 days and still no update. I have managed to receive a message back from customer services and they’ve said to leave it another 48 hours to see if the system updates. That will mean 10 days for a 2 day delivery. They’ve also said that because the buyer bought the label through Vinted, they are liable for paying the compensation. Wish me luck with that. Anyway, I posted another parcel using Evri and it was last updated this morning at around 7am. I’m praying I haven’t lost another parcel. I mean all that will happen is the buyer will get their refund for the missing items, but will I get any compensation for losing my own items?! We’ll see. Glad it’s not just me having a problem with them though. Yodel are also terrible for this too!!

OnlyTheBravest · 18/08/2022 20:32

My local Evri/Hernes couriers are fantastic. If a parcel gets to them I will receive it. The missing (as I like to call them) all seem to go missing when transferring through one of the London depots. I can't work out which one it is but if something is really important I will pay extra for delivery by DPD or beg the sender to use Royal Mail instead.

DownNative · 18/08/2022 21:03

Evri aka Here's took a month to deliver a Man United 40th birthday present 8 months ago. Should have taken 2/3 days.

Tracking kept saying it was still in the depot which often means they can't find it.

Magnanimouse · 18/08/2022 21:18

Ordered something from Mountain Warehouse a few weeks ago, email saying despatched from Evri, then another saying it was delayed. Was very busy so managed to forget for two weeks and then realised and contacted Mountain Warehouse. They said they'd chase it and/or send a replacement. TWO parcels turned up the next day - the original and the replacement delivered together.

Badger1970 · 18/08/2022 21:23

We've been exceptionally lucky that our local couriers are a man and wife team and they're brilliant. They'll leave stuff in the shed, and when a parcel was late to be delivered to them, we collected it from their house. They live in the neighbouring village, and always say hello to the dogs/give them a biscuit.

But someone else is now sharing their patch and they're absolutely fucking useless. His car keeps breaking down, his kids are ill, he loses more than he delivers and it's driving the poor original couple mad as people are blaming them.

OnaBegonia · 20/08/2022 15:16

@SJS669
In transit means it's not at your local
depot yet; possibly on route to a central sorting pint before local depot.

FreyaStorm · 21/08/2022 12:22

I find that every parcel that I’ve sent or received with Evri/Hermes where the branding is obvious on the packaging, has been “lost” at the depot.
I’ve since learned to put the Vestiaire Collective items in nondescript packaging and put a sticker over the logo. Since doing this none have fallen victim to the 5 finger discount at the depot. You’ll never get a refund off them either, no matter how many hoops you jump through.
Btw, I would never choose to post with Evri, but certain platforms like Vestiaire and Vinted force you to.

Royal Mail all the way, they’re not perfect but 100% better than Evri.

JannyC79 · 03/09/2022 09:44

I have had terrible service with evri. I requested my parcel to be re directed to an inpost locker and received an email to acknowledge this. I then received an email to say my parcel was delivered.......to my porch. I don't even have a porch. The app said delivered to the locker but I wasn't given a code to open it. I then get home and a card has been put through the door saying the parcel is with my neighbour. They have been in all day and they don't have it. I call evri but it's clear they don't have anyone human working for them so I message with a virtual assistant. I then call Simply Be who I ordeeed the clothes from and they are going to investigate it. The next day I receive another message on the evri app to say sorry they couldn't deliver my parcel to the inpost locker and will keep me updated with the tracking. So my question is, why didn't the courier take my parcel to the inpost locker as requested in the first place. He obviously drove to my house as I had card through the door. He didn't leave it with my neighbour but claimed he did on the card and he didn't take a photo of where it is and now I'm told its not been delivered yet to the locker and to wait for further updates on tracking. The company is an absolute joke

balalake · 03/09/2022 09:46

@Sierra1961 so what happened in the end?

Thank you for letting us know JD Sports use Evri aka Hermes. I won't do mail order from them.

OnaBegonia · 03/09/2022 15:43

@JannyC79
The courier who delivers to
your house can't deliver to a locker, it's a different van/driver who only delivers to lockers.
If you request diverted to locker on the day, the parcel is held back at depot and sent out the following day with the locker driver.
Hope that helps.

JannyC79 · 03/09/2022 17:11

@OnaBegonia I understand what you mean but my parcel should have went to the locker but a courier still came to my house and put a card through the door saying my parcel was with my neighbour and they don't have it either. I then receive a message from the evri app this morning saying sorry they couldn't deliver my parcel to the locker today so wait for further info on tracking on the next working day. Can you see why this is very confusing ? The courier who came to the house made out he had my parcel

The tracking should have updated by now. I'd contact customer services and they can hopefully do a more detailed track for you.

FlySwimmer · 25/09/2022 08:47

Slightly off-topic but do Evri deliver on Sundays now? I had an update that my parcel was at the delivery depot, which round here usually means it updates the same day to say out for delivery, but I can’t remember if they deliver Sundays or not, to know whether to keep an eye out.

OnaBegonia · 25/09/2022 08:56

There is a very limited Sunday coverage, at depot doesn't necessarily mean it'll be out today.

FlySwimmer · 25/09/2022 09:35

Thanks @OnaBegonia. Let’s see what happens!
